Thats part of the subtle brainwashing that has and is taking place in these churches and dare i say the church in America as a whole, we dont check, we dont test and we dont reprove the outright heresy and foolishness coming out of the mouths of these people. I have said and will continue to say that if the church as a whole actually used with regularity the God sanctioned teachings of Paul these would not be issues we would be discussing! And again its part of the subtle brainwashing that is taking place, knowingly being done no less.

“Being progressive politically will eventually lead into being progressive theologically”. This is honestly so true. I used to think this was sort of a reach but as I have seen it happen with people more and more..it’s so evident. The reality is that politics is in our face…as much as we would all LIKE to hide from it, that’s just impossible right now

Thank you for tackling this topic. As an immigrant I don’t quite understand all this chaos about American exceptionalism. It seems like every person on this planet agrees that America is exceptional except for a select group in America.. oh well.. And more astoundingly I don’t understand how anyone who carries the name of Christ can be deceived into buying what the left is selling..

I’ve been so conflicted with my feeling about Beth Moore, as I have done her Bible Studies for many years and trusted her completely. So her recent tweets have left me confused and questioning myself because I felt that she is such a strong Christian who hears from the Lord, so who am I to disagree with her. I haven’t been able to explain it but you have articulated my feelings perfectly, and am so grateful. For a while, I just thought I was crazy, that perhaps I was imagining things, but your explanation and openness has helped me realized that perhaps I was putting too much faith in her instead of focusing on the Lord. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I used to listen and read her books too a few years back, but the more I learn and study the Bible, I felt that a lot of her teachings aren't Biblical. She always so big in saying how she's talking to God/having conversation with the Almighty in a very casual way, I mean, I find it very odd and seem a bit 'holier than thou' to other people who don't seem to get to do that in a regular basis.. like we're lack of faith or something. Eventually, I stopped following her teachings entirely and that whole experience encourage me to read the Bible for myself and not rely too much only from other people's (teachers) secondhand understanding and interpretation of God's Word. The Holy Spirit is given to us to help us understand God's Word.

I don't want to sound divisive here but as a person of color and I'm a Christian, I've noticed that white evangelicals are more into American exceptionalism and nationalism. That's just what I feel, many white pastors have set back over the years and not spoken on oppression while african american people sit in their congregations and say nothing. Let's keep it 100 how many lies were told with what Beth moore said people just don't want to admit it ! When we stand before God and he opens the lambs book of life there is not going to be a check off for what country we lived in but the deeds we did in this body. If we are all honest there are Christians that see Trump as an idol and are listening to all these prophets saying he is going to be President again when he's not. God is taking the covers off now and it's not going to be pretty !

The fact that Trump's pro-life, pro-Israel, pro-whatever-else is heavily influenced by proven false teachers like Paula White, John Hagee, Kenneth Copeland and others should give people pause. Their fruits are known, and they are not good, and saying God can still use them is slightly disingenuous. My instinct, which admittedly is worth very little, tells me God has used Trump to push the falling away. People look at Paula White speaking in tongues (gibberish) and think "That's Christianity? That's Donald Trump's personal pastor? No thanks." There was a lot at stake, and I think allowing Trump to be the face of the party and trying to convince people he is Christian has backfired. But it's still part of God's plan.

As much as I AGREE with your assessment, I feel I must point out that this disconnect going on in the body of Christ (regarding racism) is NOT an excuse to vote Democrat. Democrats have a reputation of mocking the church, and using our tax dollars to do so. They don't just "demand" abortion "remain legal," they also WORSHIP abortion and demand the taxpayers continue to fund it, even overseas. And they demand that Christian business owners cater to the LGBT community. This is why I vote Libertarian. Because even though most Libertarians are okay with abortion and same sex relationships (excluding myself), we also don't think the government should mandate how people think or operate, and we certainly don't demand taxpayers subsidize things some people have a moral objection to. And we call out racism where we see it.

I've been to Africa multiple times and every time I've been there, the Gospel that I've seen manifest itself there from the US is pretty twisted. For the most part I've perceived that we do that stuff for the poor countries to feel good about ourselves then drop prosperity gospel on them.

Whoah... missionaries dropping prosperity gospel? Who? I was a missionary for 3 years that worked with an interdenominational organization that partnered with all kinds of groups in the third world, and NONE if them taught a prosperity gospel. The usa prosperity gospel works because of the weird relationship between televangelists, elderly shut ins, and expendable income. This allows Jim Bakers and Benny Hins to exist. But an American can't have a successful ministry rooted in telling people in the third world to give them money and they'll get rich too. That's crazy. I'm not saying you're making things up, but can you clarify? What denomination or church was doing this? If you're talking about a few bug names that's not indicative of American missions as a whole.

Sure, I'll clarify. Visited a lot of churches when I was out there. Curious about how they did things. Also a few "parachurch" organizations if that's your preferred noun. All in all, I give it about 90% prosperity. When I spoke with the parachurch guys, they explained that it was because earlier on there was a lot of influence back from when Kenneth Hagen was big (and alive) mixed with pre-existing animism. So these sects of christianity are sending as well. It seems like you have me saying all missionaries are bad. By no means, but prosperity won in Saharan Africa at least for the next few decades

@@kennaymon123 interesting. Can you name-drop the Parachurch group leading saharan African guys in prosperity gospel? Or are you saying that when the ministries evolved into local self driving groups they went prosperity? (ie: not the Parachurch organization driving it),if so then I see what you mean, because one of the biggest televangelists IS African nowadays. Never seen him before this year, ended up on my feed. And before him there's been others too. But these guys don't reflect the larger ideology of evangelical American missiology. It's a local heresy that is emulating an American cultural entertainment based aberation from core orthodox American Christianity.

I live in Africa tobe specific: Uganda, I don't know how other African countries do it (not good to generalize the whole continent), However here we have a variety of Christian organisations just like in the USA, however to a greater extent people here are very very spiritual even in our Christianity. We know what a sacrifice is and more so WHO Christ is in that regards of Sacrifice, we witness the redemptive power of God through Christ and curses, spells, all forms of demons and brought down to acknowledge Christ as Lord ans savior there by freeing many souls. We understand what true spiritual freedom is. Most of our Congregations are financially constrained, although its constraining, it wont stop and street preachers to every day come to the streets. It wont stop the university church from Preaching Christ. Yes, we need finances in Church and sometimes we have fundraising drives, just like in the USA. Putting up a building, a community center, providing meals, and other amenities to the needy comes with a financial responsibility. Oh not to mention taking care of our ministers who unlike the USA are not salaried. Oh we also have fake Churches, where people have to trade prayers for money they do exists just like that side... Oh, there are those ministries here who also are eaten by vices like homosexuality, etc, however its tabboo to voice those views on our cultures, although we knew they are there too. @ravissary79 is speaking truth, try to be more specific bro. Otherwise many blessing, oh encourage other to visit our nations, there's alot of pick from the Christianity communities here also there's alot of good you can pass on down hear especially as a solid Christian. Christian Nationalism, based on the definitions being; "Christian" or follower of Christ, and "Nationalist" one with patriotism and loyalty to their country which is morally neutral, is not in anyway a bad or evil thing. The problem comes when the Christian has more love and loyalty to their nation than to God. God should be the first of our love, even over our own family. Whatever is the first of one's love is their God, be it money politics or anything else. As a Christian we should be devoted fully to God, to love Him with all that we are. One who loves God 1st and loves their nation 2nd is neither a danger to anyone else nor living an unChristian life. Progressive Christianity is a horrendous modern heresy and a cancer in the American Church.

I appreciate your thoughts, John! I think we are now seeing the fruits of decades of massively failing to educate our children and to them how to think. The inability to distinguish between ideas and hold nuanced discourse is leading to the masses, both Christian and secular, to conflate nearly every idea into "us vs. them"; and I'm willing to bet most people can't even define what constitutes "us" or "them". It's like we're in a collective mental fog and are being led helplessly by the media and demagogues on social media. To comment on what you said about the negative connotations of "thinking your country is the best," we could perhaps draw a parallel with our spouses or immediate family. When I say they are "the best", what I'm really saying is "I love them, they are most familiar to me, and I could not imagine trading them for anyone else." My love of my family does not preclude other families from being wonderful and even better objectively than mine is in certain ways. I stumbled across your channel today and just wanted to tell you that I became a Christian (non-denominational) about 10 years ago, and your ministry through music was instrumental (no pun intended) in waking me from my aimless, youthful stupor. I have since become a Catholic, and have much love for my Protestant brothers and sisters. Just wanted to let you know that your work makes a difference! Also, do you ever age? You look exactly the same as I remember you back in 2010 (I saw Skillet in concert at Summerfest in Milwaukee).

The confusion is here because without belief on Christ and the whole council of his word, the world is blind. Believing is seeing. People have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. That's why they only pray as a last resort instead of casting all their cares on him as he commands.

I’ll agree that our founding fathers and important figures throughout our rich history in this country has been strong on the position of freedom and democracy. I’ll push back a little; it is important to recognize the wars and anti democratic movements in our country as well. Some example: wars that were imperialist (the Spanish-American war or the Philippines-American war), the intelligence agency’s spying on the public, or the lock downs that have been happening recently. having said that, I do think that the IDEA of America is a good thing. And we need to become more free, not less. more importantly our country need to look to Christ and fall and humble ourselves. A lot of people on either side of political spectrum have been feeding their pride. Whether that by the idols of Christian nationalism or the pride of “wokeness”. We need a whole lot of Jesus! That is and will continue to be our only saving grace.

I generally agree with your comment, so I'm just addressing the semantic issue of "democracy". Our founding fathers wrote extensively against democracy. Our modern use of the word democracy is not what democracy is. Democracy means every individual has an equal voice and force toward the direction of the nation. They (founding fathers) referred to it as "mob rule" and "mobocracy". They were Republicans (long before the was a Republican party.) in the literal sense. We are a Constitutional Republic and under the rule of law. Democracy is opposed to being a Constitutional Republic because it is static and not able to be changed by the whims of the largest crowd or group. The Constitution protects everyone, including the largest minority - which is the individual. It is also Law that all are under. In the case of the United States , it is a law that provides for liberty and rights more than any other nation in history. The lack of godly (God fearing) people in numbers effective enough to give direction and influence the direction of our country is part of the reason we've become a lawless nation. A worldview that destroys the "image" of God in all people and perverts the history of mankind and the Earth has destroyed ★purpose, ★value, ★hope, ★and †Jesus† (who is the reason for hope) in public awareness and individuals thoughts. This is the legacy of atheism and has led to a majority of people being taught lies about who they are, our biology, natural and social history, economics, philosophy, English, mathematics, general science and the sciences, even art (!), and so on. Lastly, a democracy would provide, through the mechanism of law, a way (a possibility) to codify every one of these issues into law - making it mandatory to learn a worldview based solely on lies. Sadly, grievously, our leaders don't enforce laws or protect our rights. Our citizens do not respect the law or our rights. If they did, we would not be in this mess. I know this is long, and understand you may not read it for that reason. God's love and hope to you! 🙂

Wow John. I left a church for the very reasons you mention. I know 2 of my 3 sisters attend a progressive church and I see it in their support for this administration. They only listen to the MSM and that is all they trust. I have seen Beth Moore numerous times in past years. I haven't heard her speak recently, but I've never heard any politics in her seminars. I want to check that out. I had a friend once tell me that she thought God understood that these are different times, implying he would change with them. I looked at her and asked her if she could back that up with scripture. Needless to say, she could not. The Bible is very clear about the signs of these times. We need to pray for ALL leaders, from the top down. The world needs the TRUTH now more than ever. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Now THAT...is what should happen. If there is an issue, got to your brother/sister FIRST and get that perspective BEFORE putting them out on front street when you may not have a full understanding of their position... a lot of this sounds a lot like speculation and verbal gymnastics...TALK TO HER AND GET HER PERSPECTIVE then make a video/podcast after that step is completed. He says repeatedly, “I don’t want to put words in her mouth, but....” and then proceeds to present his understanding of it....not cool & not biblical in how this should be handled. Should have talked to her first.

You don’t care who it was? Speaking out against the violence is great, it’s what anyone should do, but for someone that wants to live in the truth - you SHOULD care who the people were that were doing the damage. Especially when you tend to hold one “side” up above another... learning and acknowledging who it is, especially if it’s from someone on your own side... it’s important. I can tell that you’re trying... that you understand that what you said and the way you said it really upset a bunch of people. Not just people on the right who wanted you to believe that Antifa was somehow embedded in the crowd of “conservatives” and caused all the trouble... but I can tell that you heard those of us that aren’t appreciating the way you were painting the left with one broad brush recently. Because you’re very quick to say “Hey, just because you’re a conservative it’s not fair for people to say you automatically supported the violence” (or something like that) Well, there’s plenty things that “the left” or liberals get accused of as a whole, and that’s not the case with them either. And it definitely bothers you when folks do it to your side, so you can’t be far from understanding how folks can feel the same on the other side. You’ve gotta be careful with the word Trumpism... because of all the words that have a fluid definition, a meaning that is different for each person that says it, this one would be the winner... so I’m not sure that assuming that she’s calling everyone involved “racists” is the right way to go... you said you don’t want to put words in her mouth, but that’s exactly what you were doing when you said that. One could also say that you might be feeling attacked because you do have some reservations about supporting Trump or his people and policies... I’m just struggling to figure out what these particular tweets struck such a nerve in you, when you even say in this video that what she said is fine if she meant it like it sounds in the tweets, not considering her other statements. I’m gonna try to quit picking ... I just hope you understand that people like me, who may still be wtf’ing you, it’s because of things a couple podcasts ago that was still bad enough to a lot of us that we’re still irritated. Thinking that there were things wrong with some of the components of the founding of our country... things that needed to be changed, things that WERE changed... that’s a “progressive” political viewpoint? What’s so wrong with acknowledging that there were mistakes made, and not everyone feels that America was formed in a way that was looking out for them? I think your problem is that again you’re lumping everyone together in groups again. “If white people stole power from black people.” etc ... very few people think or say that ALL whites people gain power at the cost of black people, but there’s no doubt that until relatively recently in the history of our country, it’s absolutely true that SOME white people prospered at the expense of black people... and there’s nothing wrong with saying that and it certainly doesn’t make one a progressive. You call it a fail safe and say that she doesn’t mean what she said ... good grief. She’s saying that too many people have turned to hero worship when it comes to Trump, nor should people hero worship Biden. You even just said you agree with what she says if she just means what she says. You’re upset about how you’re interpreting her tweets, not by the content of what she ACTUALLY said. 🤦🏻‍♂️ “There’s an incredible danger in the revolution of the left.” 🤦🏻‍♂️ yes, the left, they’re all monsters ... thanks for emphasizing that for everyone. Why do you think having a President of a different party is going to dictate how people act? Do you think that people living in Christ’s ways will suddenly stop doing that now? People will act how they act based on who they are and what happens in their lives, not because “now we can be awful, guys... we’ve got a Democrat President... nothing can stop us now!!” 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ NOT EVERYONE ON THE LEFT SUPPORTS ABORTION, since I can tell that’s one of your biggest concerns, understandably. But there are people on the left who support and do horrible things, just as there are people on the right who support and do horrible things. Do you not realize that you’re coming across like you don’t believe that anyone on the left could hate abortion as much as you? Do you think not a single republican has ever gotten an abortion? Hopefully one of these days you’ll get back to good versus evil instead of “good versus the left” 😒😞

Excellent! What you have written is truth. There is a slant that he doesn’t seem to want to let go of. My question is WHY did he not talk DIRECTLY with/to Beth Moore and get her perspective instead of all this speculation? He repeatedly states that “ I don’t want to put words in her mouth, but.....” then gives his own interpretation anyway! Unreal! The word tells us that if we have ought against our brother (sister) got to him/her alone and get that straight leaving your sacrifice at the altar till you do so. He wouldn’t have had to “put words in her mouth” had he made an effort to have a conversation with her first....smh.....amazing.

Old testament shows God giving orders to the Jewish people in how to fight and win their wars and protecting personal property ("if a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no blood guiltfor him."), yet the new testament expresses more of a "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's," "love your master," "never avenge yourselves," mentality/sentiment. Would love to hear other people's thoughts and biblical learnings.

My faith has lead me to start really looking at what is going on in our country. We have a political party that does nothing in times of trouble and another party that stops at nothing to win. I feel as a person of faith that it is our responsibility to talk to our state representatives as our federal representatives. What is going on in our country comes down to spiritual warfare. I have people that I go to church with that won't even acknowledge me, just because I shared a different opinion. They will attack me on social media at every opportunity. I have forgiven them but it is sad that they can't see past their politics. I wish people would realize that the division isn't really between neighbors but in Washington. It's the media that has convinced people that they have to hate their neighbor. This type of thing isn't from the Lord.

Your entire comment describes why I am a Libertarian and vote for Libertarian candidates. This "lesser of two evils" notion has bread the tribalism which is evident in this "red vs. blue" nonsense, and the narcissism which you made mention of in your post. Some people at my church take issue with me thinking a lot of cops are racist, and that the drug war should end. And then they accuse me of violating "Romans 13."

I’m so glad I found this! God has been working overtime in my life! Overcame addiction, getting better at repentance, and learning to walk in His will!...not mine. 1 John 4:4 Greater is He that is in you than he of this world!” I just subscribed and look forward to hearing more of your videos. This is in no way making a comparison here...but I’ve been a struggling musician for yrs and I know why I’m struggling...I haven’t been writing music for Him because I’m afraid of the persecution...it’s cowardly of me. Matthew 10:43...whoever deny’s Me before men, I will deny them before my Father. I know this isn’t on topic necessarily and more of a personal issue, but wanted to Thankyou. Plz pray for me, and you’re in my prayers John. One last thing....I’ve never seen Skillet Live, but I did see Ledger play at Winter Jam in Kcmo 2018. The day before Winter Jam I was living in a sober living home in North KC. The guys and I sat around the table for our nightly meeting, and I expressed how my faith was slipping and I felt it...I was concerned. The next day, a new member joined our sober living home...Nate Tait. As I got to know Nate and welcome him into the home, he told me his brother was in a band and playing a concert that night here in KC...acted like no big deal. Long story Short, his brother is Michael Tait from the News Boys! The next night we were backstage at Winter Jam! My faith was slipping, and I cried out to God!!! The next night I was walking out of a concert buzzing more than any substance could possibly make me feel! I can’t stress that last part enough to anyone who struggles with addiction! I don’t struggle with it these days, by the Grace of God! My one last thing was a lot lol...my apologies...had to share that. Thanks again.

For people who are trying to blame another group: it only takes one person, at the right time, in a group of emotional people to incite a mob. And when you're with a large group of people you're more likely to just go along with the crowd. although there were some far right people there who have had a history of causing problems, like Baked Alaska.

I understand why you don’t want to use the word “nationalism.” However, you also are aware that they are attacking the actual definition as it was. The battle is over words with words. If one keeps changing to the seizure of words from the other side, then one is always controlled by the dictations of the other side, and in the war with words the war has been lost. One has to have a cultural alternative to be countercultural, and culture has extended to language since Genesis 10.

Ive thought about this podcast episode a bit more. I appreciate Cooper making it, it goes a long way to produce something articulating what you believe so passionately. But, I do think he doesn't do the topic justice. He seemed to have to reframe a lot of what Beth Moore said, and circumvented Trumpism, seeming to care more about what is said about Trumpism and assuming underlying motivations of Beth Moore, but not actually tackling the issue at hand.

@@shelleyr6013 well I wouldnt allow men to sit under me if I was clear on the bible. I would call it a womens group & allow only women. Maybe shes not making it clear enough. I mean allowing mean to walk in is as bad as just preaching to anyone. It's like saying "well I don't believe in fornicating but if you come in fornicating anyway that's on you". No if someone came in doing something bad they should make them leave. Same here as men should sit under her. Shes allowing her meeting or service to be overtaken by sin.

If you study a little deeper, you would see that these 2 verses are cultural... And have to do with the prideful and domineering nature with which the questions are asked or the assumption of authority over men which was assumed by a certain type of women in the culture that Paul is speaking to. Otherwise, why where adhere so strictly to those verses and ignore the surrounding verses? Admittedly, the attitude does present concern in today's culture as well, but if a woman is submitted to God, and if what she teaches points to Him, and she does not assume ungodly authority over a man, how can you possibly compare a man listening to bible teaching (which is for all) to a person who is committing something blatantly outside of God's will? Something that has 2 verses in the entire Bible (and never implied by Jesus) to something so often taught against that it is VERY clearly a sin?

I appreciate your thoughts on this John, however I don't think that your are right to assume that Christian Nationalism or Trumpism should be associated with Racism. IMO those don't have anything to do with racism in this context. I believe she is simply calling out how dangerous it is for people to put their faith more into our government, or nation over our Savior. To boil it down to racism hides the real problem that people treated President Trump as if he was some sort of savior, rather than the leader of a post-Christian nation. Interesting take though I just see it differently. Im glad I found your channel!

@@laurachancellor9381 David never said he didn't need to apologize to God because he never did anything wrong. David hated his own sin. This is intellectually dishonest as a comparison. Just because John Hagee whispered into Trump's ear his perverted brand of Zionism doesn't means God is honored by it.

None of you understood what I was trying to say... just because I listed King David as an example didn’t mean I was comparing him to President Trump. ALL of us are sinful - God being omnipotent/omnipresent/omniscient knows our our sinful future & still appoints us to important positions, tasks, etc... Just because those preachers you mentioned were listened to by Trump doesn’t mean he followed what they said. I’m sure he took the best & disposed the false/negative part. He surrounded himself by an administration full of Christians - the most ever in an organization. For being such a “horrible person” that people try to make him out to be, he sure did support pro-life organizations/protected life, regularly spoke the Name ofJesus Christ & mention Him as Savior, was the first to fight against human/sex trafficking, moved the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, etc, etc...

Here is what I say & I am 60 & have seen much in my day w/regard to christianity. Sadly, evangelicals have fallen into the conservative, patriot, political agenda trap. Many assume because one espouses oneself as patriotic & politically conservative, that one is Christian. The term political conservative & christian are not synonymous. A christian is one who has received Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior & follow him. A political, patriotic conservative follows a man they view is their savior for America. That man may be politically conservative & pro-life to get a vote from a particular base. However, that does not necessarily make them Christian. It is a fine, deceptive line & dangerous. We live in difficult days. One who calls themself Christian needs to check & re-evaluate who they are following & what they are following. Are they following Christ & His Word or a man or party & their American conservative, patriotic ideology??? Thou shall have no other gods before Me...who is your God & I say that plurally for all who call themselves christian.
