The main reason as an ENFP that truth is less of a priority, is because in our eyes there is no conclusive truth. One of my most hated situations is when you're convinced that you're right, but you're then proven wrong. I like to think that we're aware that truth can often be subjective, and that some truths are incomprehensible to us, we can't receive answers for questions that we can't even fathom. So instead we tend to focus on perspectives.

I think with inferior Si, we have to try and ground ourselves with out judgement axis. For the ENTP this is a fixation on ti truth, for the ENFP, I say I ground myself through my sense of strong values, e.g. a situation/circumstance may change and I may have to adapt, but my sense of self that keeps me grounded is usually my Ne/Fi ethos which is a carefully constructed "world" that connects my political views, social views, economic views, spiritual views e.g just how Jung developed the types based on the tarot card which were based off of star constellations. The balance of Fi/Te for me is all about making the most ethical and efficient decision. Whereas I feel Ti/Fe is more necessity and Harmony focused. ENTPs in my experience are less polarising than ENFPs, they will still seem quirky, but never really controversial like with ENFPs. I think this is hugely to do with the judgement axis though, Fi/Te is very 0% or 100% but Ti/Fe is very capable of only bring part of themselves to the table. It's interesting to see how the two types can view each other as 'cold' for me I find Fe to be shallow, with little conviction, it can feel like they don't truly care, but with ENFPs unless there's an Fi passion to engage us we will not dedicate energy to it which is often perceived as cold indifference by the Ti/Fe people around me.

Right there is no conclusive truth about the big questions!! It is true I’m sitting on a tiny chair that was made in China but is the sun hitting my face with photons? Hell no, inconclusive. We do not know enough to determine the truth on that so I prefer to qualify a statement like ”many people believe...” I have been through so many new revelations that I know it’s going to happen again, so why bother claiming truth on a subject like that? Just a silly example

I don't know, as an ENFP maybe I sometimes prone myself to bullshitting but I do value and appreciate the truth because it helps my Fi making decision. I don't know why or it's just me but a of people who were afraid to tell me the truth ended up bullshitting just like me then there we go the blame game. If my shits were meant for a laugh, the shits I had from others was meant for a slap in the face lol. To conclude, I think the truth is very valuable, especially the truth about how the emotional situation is between ENFP and another type. It's a priority, don't think ENFPs hate the truth, we just want to fix the reality, doesn't mean we hate the truth. We need it.

From 12:19 Although it may be the general case for an underdeveloped ENFP, I disagree that when ENFP's meet authority figures we are looking at it from the perspective of "what we can gain". Personally, I've read many Robert Greene books and some Dr. Peterson's lectures which have allowed me to synthesize an understanding of how the desires of the ego are many times counterproductive and potentially fatal. Therefore, instead of thinking "what can I gain," I think, "How can I best grow from this experience and learn from those who are better than me and simultaneously help the organization move forward?" But please, don't get me wrong. Of course we do have primal desires of wanting power, (Te user's in general do), and there has to be more healthy expressions of that, but i'm against making it a habit of pursuing it in corrupt ways. I guess my main point is that it seems a little unfair to oversimplify an ENFP's process to "What can I gain?" and that we're shysters, when in reality, we can have a complex way of looking at world and not as self-centered. At least that's my two cents on the matter, hope it helps Chase!

I've made a similar point (but in a different way) on numerous videos of his about ENFPs, because he clearly has a low opinion of them. I agree with him on lots of points but I've tried to point out that his characterisation of ENFPs as dodgy salesmen is broadly inaccurate. There's defo some misinterpretation going on here. But I think he secretly believes he's figured people out much more than most people at this point so he's unlikely to bend.

I love Chase honestly, but he does have a bias against enfps. I think it has to do with some he has met. I also think taking from my own experience, that even though we are alike in many ways we are also fundamentally different and we are somewhat a mystery to one another. Even with this personality stuff to inform us. I do think part of an Entp and enfp wants to be friends with one another but it takes knowing something about one another's personalities early on for it to work. Like hey I'm (enfp) all about inner morals and hey I'm all about inner truth (entp) and then they could be like cool so let's talk about how morals can be consistent with truth. And bam! Well maybe I'm oversimplifying it but it's a thought lol

@@edwinortiz7114 I agree on your first point. Not sure if I agree on your 2nd point about ENFP-ENTP friendships. I'm an ENFP and was drawn to some ENTPs before I knew about the MBTI - I like being around other Ne-doms generally. Also, I'd disagree with certain aspects of Chase's compatibility model (in terms of friendship rather than dating) because I find that their values and philosophies on life from a nurture point of view has much more bearing on whether I enjoy hanging out with them or not. Even though people are more naturally drawn to some MBTI /Jungian types than others (I do agree with that much), they could just as easily dislike or like each other depending on other things about them.

Look here everyone!! Lol From my perspective, Fi and moods are not the same thing and I'd like everyone to at least hear me out since I am an upper function Fi user. I think when people say Fi is a mood they are actually just focusing on the mood that is the result of Fi and they are not understanding that, that is not Fi itself. The only way they can truly understand Fi is to understand the internal process. To make my point clear, Chase's Ti comes off as a mood. He conveys mannerisms and vocal tone consistent with arrogance/frustration as he uses it sometimes (no judgment though. This is just an evaluation of his mood). But I also wouldn't say his Ti is a mood like he's saying Fi is a mood. As an enfp I dont know what the internal process of Ti looks like. All I see is someone saying "this is true!" or "this isnt true!" just like all you see an Fi user doing is saying "this is right!" or "this isnt right!" Both come off moody without a clear explanation of the inner process that people are not seeing. Maybe Fi also comes with an awareness of what I feel but I think that it is just an additional attribute of Fi. Im not just randomly feeling things. I'm feeling things as a result of value judgments that I develop rationally. But anywho this is why I dont think anyone should be able to say Fi is a mood if I cant say Ti is a mood. If anyone would ever like to have a discussion about it I'd love to talk to more about morals/values and how I develop them.

Maybe just like an entp going against their truth or thinking people are stupid would make entps moody. I actually think moods are connected to all of the functions. However, that honesty comes with the understanding that if you do screw me over, then I will ruin you. Your reputation will be gone, your business destroyed. I'll make sure no one deals with you and make every effort to ensure you do not remain in business. That part is VERY much true. It's about fairness and the understanding that actions have consequences. SE Demon is ALL about Karma. And we do want the world to burn, for a burnt out forest will have new life again from the ashes. It's all about teaching a lesson. If there was one type I would think was the biggest scammer type I would say ESTP or ESTJ. And if we were so manipulative, we wouldn't be vulnerable in turn to being easily scammed and manipulated. It's pretty hard to manipulate if we are constantly getting played. It's not consistent. We aren't emotionally stupid and we are actually quite attuned to how others feel. We are also only selfish to a point. We aren't doormats, but we aren't out only for ourselves either. We are an Idealist type. Manipulation has a negative connotation in our society, but ALL social interaction is manipulation of some sort. And if we are manipulating, it is not always for selfish reasons. We might be manipulating you so you don't do something you will regret later or which will have dire consequences. As idealists, we want to make the world a better place. And when I personally get into not caring about it, I simply withdraw from investing into it. It's not worth my energy or time. Te Child wants to believe in a good figure, but we end up often VERY disappointed when someone proves to be immoral And the idea we have no talent? Um, ENFPs are VERY creative. We might not be artisan types, but we are idealists. Quite good at philosophy and debate, and crafting ideas that make sense so that others can follow it. We also make good writers and communicators. We understand people in a way not many other types do. There is a reason the type is called The Advocate. Ti Trickster Literally ANYTHING can be true, and we can see the other side of the issue. I know you've said to me before that you wouldn't be where you are without an ENFP, but I do detect a level of negative cognitive bias in regards to ENFPs that are not present with the other types you've done.

I think it is way more tougher for an infj to tell what kind of people they should be around because most of the time it is exhausting for them.. I guess infj will be way more happier and productive all by themselves because it's sometimes exhausting to go all out of your way still you won't be good enough for people.. and you leave and suddenly one fine day they know your value... it's strange it's better this way that you go around help them build themselves learn few things from them cherish your meetings and leave... I know it sounds alienating people but it's not rather you are not stagnating and just learn it is a materialistic world where people care about materialistic success which you won't be able to provide so give what you can and just leave...good for everyone

You're right about enfps wanting to find out who is in charge but for me it's because I want to outsource my thinking because that makes me feel safer than trying to make my own decisions. Arguing only for the sake of coming to the next reference point rather than to get the truth. My god I feel called out. If someone argues effectively with me and contradicts my points, I'll just say "fine. I don't care that much about the subject anyway". Then I will go away and process it and next time change my argument to incorporate the new data points without even acknowledging that I conceded or changed my belief - I'll just drop it in as if I've always believed that. I'm really good at admitting I was wrong morally, but I'm so bad at admitting I was wrong with information. I am working on it thought because it alienates people and makes me feel crap. I am someone who knows the logical fallacies too and can readily spot them in others and in my self - but I literally don't care about fallacies if I am attached to an idea. Also, I have tons of talent but I can imagine a lot of us don't. And yes I was totally lost and depraved until I believed in God. That's definitely changed me and given me happiness.

Can you please help to solve this question that I have been pondering for some time? Was John Lennon an ENFP or ENTP?? MY THOUGHT ON IT: Between the two options, I have tended to lean toward ENFP, largely due to the emotion and idealism expressed in the songs. However, what niggles at me is that he was quite often quite blunt and abrasive. I believe Paul McCartney mentioned that John didn't have any problem with giving and taking criticism when working on songs, so hew was not overly sensitive in that way. In high school he could be something of a bully. One thread that was consistent with him was that he was always trying to shock and was a contrarian rebel. My question is this: Can this kind of bluntness happen with an ENFP or would that point more to ENTP? (There is absolutely no doubt in my mind he was ENxP). What I am describing as “bluntness” was either a) verbal witty game-playing where he would interrupt interviewers with unconventional responses and exaggerated jokey movements showing that he was barely listening to their questions. Or b) straight up put downs using vulgar language, for example to other musicians in the studio when they made mistakes or when drunk Or c) impassioned defensive rants/arguments with those who seem to be critical of his work or mission. He was sharp with his opinions which he seemed to feel deeply. He consistently expressed this cutting and challenging edge and raw call-it-like-it-is honesty. But he was not debating philosophical points or abstract concepts. I don’t get the sense that he had the patience to meticulously think through logical and philosophical arguments in detail. It is important to note that he had a lot of unresolved trauma and anger connected with his childhood, and was addicted to heroine and alcohol for much of his adult life, which impacted his behaviour. When I consider ENTP for John Lennon, however, I then ask myself if his songs sound anything like something an ENTP would write? They seem to be all about expressing feeling, and idealism about love, in poetic visionary and romantic language. On the other hand he had songs like “Just give me the truth”, where he attacks all falseness with the wish to cut through the BS to the truth. I don’t know for sure, but it seems to me he was more of a warrior than a scholar. He is someone who always lived passionately, who idolized those who he admired and then often became hugely dependent on them as a kind of authority figure, and then later could get disillusioned with them. He was tons of fun, witty and and very unpredictable. He could change moods and directions dramatically. Cynthia said that he really never wanted to hurt people and actually preferred to avoid conflicts and move on to other things, but then he could lose his temper sometimes and had this contrarian argumentative streak. When he moved on from one direction in his life to another, he really moved on from it completely and would abandon people including his wife and first child and bandmates/close friends. Cynthia believed that the old childhood wounds and drugs led to a lot of his behaviour later. He was also a huge daydreamer. He could just go off for long long periods in his mind, lying on the couch. This was part of his creative process. It usually took a deadline set by Paul or a manager for him to get down to business and quickly write his songs. John was not very practical or physically coordinated or good with technical things like electronics. His views on politics tended to be very broad and not thought through to the detail, but rather more of a broad idea about things like "peace". Escapism into sex, drugs, and rock n' roll was a big theme. The ENFP function stack seems to describe him pretty well. I guess I am just still hung up on this bluntness question, and if that is common or possible as a consistent trait for an ENFP? Or if he was ENTP, is it possible to have had that kind of idealism and emotion consistently in his songs? One other question I have wrestled with (which I don't expect to be resolve here if the Enneagram is not so much your focus), is whether he was a counter phobic 6w7 versus a 7w6 on the Enneagram?

1) Wow the thing that really nailed me being an Ne Dom was the Ni worry about the future and needing to be grounded (Si) in some belief/philosophy. That was the only thing that pulled me out of depression. Everything else that you said, I couldn't quite nail down in myself, but the belief thing is 100% accurate (and is also in my astrology: moon (emotions) in 9th house (house of philosophy)). 2) It sucks that we can't learn from others' mistakes. I'm trying to read as much as I can and I've been trying to do a thing where I notice a little mistake in myself and quickly extrapolate that into the future, see the impact of it, and fix it in myself before I have to fail on a larger scale in the future. Eg. seeing hints of emotional unavailability, hints of impatience, hints of anger issues before I'm in really bad situations. I think it's learning more from theory/data points of my own experiences vs. from others'. I hope this will prevent me from some future failures and isn't part of the Se blind thing. What do you think? Is avoiding failure in this way possible for ENFPs?

One thing I have about the learning thing. Wouldn't ni heros be kind of best people at learning and personal growth since their se demon drives them to learn from all the mistakes people do around them so they can implement them for themselves in the future as a tool? I feel like with si inferior I keep making the same mistakes since childhood not really ever learning since I'm often to lazy for the whole trial and error game and alao to lazy to keep going over my stuff in order to figure out where I went wrong. And somtimes I even ignore it all together because my ti system made so much sense before so the factual information that needs to be implemented kind of gets ignored. I would probably say that intjs are probably the best at this game of learneing and implemennting and growing to get better. Maybe I should start integrating my intj subconcious more or my inferior functions. 🤔 Sorry for my little ramble haha. Good or bad is subjective because we all have different biological temperaments, meaning different people will literally get different amounts of reward or punishment in their brain circuits, a great example being how some people respond much more strongly to social pain than others. It's not purely genetics, it's also your methylation markers and conditioned responses over time. Now, you could argue that on a societal level, if the majority of people have a similar response to a situation, that's what should be the commonly accepted "good or bad" in the society. Of course, that's dangerous because individual diversity is a real thing!! If you focus on the whole you tend to neglect the individuals and if you focus on appealing to minorities, it can be a problem for the whole. This type of conundrum is at the heart of arguments about how we should set up our society and govern it most effectively - do we optimize for the whole or for the parts? As for absolute truth, that's what you have when you can test an idea or Theory repeatedly and it's successful every time. Newton's laws are a great example of a deep truth in our universe - they're accurate in a very very wide range of contexts, to the point that we sent a rocket to the moon using them. (They fail at the quantum level.) Or another one is the Deep structure of language and religion that you find in all cultures, even one that have had no contact with our modern society - it's just an innate truth to Human Nature. Where things get murky is when you go from the concrete to the abstract, because there's no guarantee that you have a common reference for what an abstract concept means when you're talking to another person. Some people associate an idea with an emotion, whereas others may associate that same idea with a system they have in their head which they use to make decisions, and I believe that difference in association is the distinction between Fi and Ti users. Ultimately, what we're doing is we are gathering information from the world and deciding what to do with it in our own unique way - INTPs gather that information over time and try to assemble it to form theories about what to do in the future (even if the future just means this afternoon) while ISFPs will gather information primarily from the moment and use it to decide what they feel like they want to do right now. Learning about types allows us to understand others better and to know how to interact in the world better, which is extremely valuable to the overall quality of life for everyone on this planet today and into the future. This is why I care about it and I believe this is why Chase cares about it as well. Interesting thoughts... Hmm 😉

Lin Yen Chin Your comment reads like a mathematical proof to me - is that Ti in action? I can see that in my comment I'm mostly combining ideas from sources I've read - I counted 17 books that I referenced throughout that comment. I suppose that is a very Te thing to do. If that's Te, then what would a Ti user do? You just made me realize that if-then logic is not the same thing as question-answer logic. However it still appears to me that if-then logic requires axioms in order to work - you need to have a reference for what "1" means in order to understand what "1+1=2" means. How do I know the difference between using sources as an axiomatic reference and using them in a Te manner? Where can I learn more about logic and thinking? I don't understand.

Then once I have a general structure laid out, I use introverted thinking to come to a solid conclusion. The finalizing process is very time-consuming and tedious however, so introverted thinking is probably low in my function stack. I care about finding the real truth so I doubt it's a trickster or demon function but you never know. Still inconclusive but it's another clue. Thanks for calling me out

@@linyenchin6773 You're correct that I did not take the time to make sure that my text was internally coherent to an external reader. I figured a reader would take each individual idea and compare it to their internal framework of understanding. My thinking is that the broader internal framework of understanding an individual holds is more important than the consistency within a few paragraphs. But I suppose it makes sense that to an external reader, if they don't see consistency within my paragraphs, they will assume that I don't have internal consistency within myself. However, even if you assumed that, my goal is for you to take the information I conveyed and compare it to your own internal framework. Take for example the type theory that Chase is proposing throughout this channel. I have a lot of models in my head about neuroscience, psychology, personal anecdotes etc and when I listen to a Chase lecture, I'm constantly comparing everything he says to my personal experiences and internal models. There's very often a mismatch - eg the orbitofrontal cortex in the brain interfaces your limbic system with your thinking and uses your emotional state to modulate your thinking processes in real time - If this is true it might not make sense for the thinking and feeling functions to be separate from each other because this means they must have some sort of relationship to each other. My reaction to that is that type theory may already account for this and I'm just not expert enough at it yet, or perhaps in Chase's Theory they are referring to feeling and thinking in a different way than the orbitofrontal cortex model in neuroscience. If that's true, then combining the theories would require some reworking of definitions and language. In spite of these inconsistencies I constantly see, I realize that the idea of introverted thinking and introverted ceiling can be applied without having to appear consistent with the model of emotion in neuroscience because what they actually do is inform my deeper internal theory that I have in my own head. Based on that, I'm not sure how strong I am at Ti because I have a hard time coming up with a consistent theory that incorporates both neuroscience and type theory. If I'm going to take two different theories and see if I can form a new Theory out of them, I have to lay out several ideas next to each other and compare them to see if I can extract a Common Thread: - Ti is a judging function that looks for internal consistency and truth - Te is a judging function that looks for external consistency and applicability - Fi is a judging function that looks for commonalities amongst different experiences to find a common moral code that emerges within the self - Fe is a judging function that looks for commonalities amongst the larger emotional climate of the world and for the most effective moral approach that satisfies that external reality Then I would cross reference those facts with some other ideas in my head: - emotion is an affective state that primes your brain to perceive the world in terms of specific patterns of action. if you're sad, everything from your attention to your memory to your thinking style will be modulated by that state. Neurons that fire together, wire together I would probably compare that idea first before moving on to others. I might ask how it's possible for emotions to modulate your thinking and for type Theory to be true at the same time. I would come up with ideas like: - the way that your emotions modulate your thinking is inherently represented in the function stack - the function stack merely represents your *conscious awareness* of the different functions, not how much they affect your decision-making - the way someone's judgment Works depends on their current effective state. If your ego is on the Ti-Fe axis, then you are not being affected by Te or Fi. However, if you switch States then you've done a cognitive transition and you're no longer affected by Ti-Fe when you're in your unconscious. Then I would just repeat that process and look for inconsistencies and new theories I could generate that would help explain the existing theories or integrate them or prove them wrong. So my real question now is if that type of logic is an example of Te or Ti? Is that internal set of facts actually Si because it's my long-term memory or are the facts I'm comparing to actually the >>internal framework

@@linyenchin6773 Hi, I'm still pondering over your replies. I used "morals" because I wasn't really thinking about it, I meant ethical. I don't understand the difference from an experiential standpoint yet, only the logical definitions. There's a book Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Heath that talks about how to effectively get the ideas in your head into someone else's head in a way that sticks. I bring this up because even though your logic may be concise and very coherent, I can't see your thought processes so I don't really know where you're coming from. I'm not a "show your work" type unless I'm communicating with other people. If I'm just writing in the journal or hashing things out for myself, I don't mention ideas that I've gathered externally.

@@linyenchin6773 I think before I go further with this discussion, I need to really think about what "abstract" means. If I can figure this out, it'll take me to a new level of awareness and thinking. Hopefully the following writing doesn't have a bible-thumping feel to it, I'm trying to be clear. In my first grade class, we had a demonstration about abstraction - the teacher showed us a purple ball and then a basketball. She argued that at a concrete level, we can directly perceive each ball and understand that we can hold them in our hands, bounce them on the floor, describe their physical appearance Etc. But then she asked us to IMAGINE a generic ball in our heads and describe it. In my head I imagined a Black and white three-dimensional sphere - I could imagine ibouncing it on the floor, I imagined the feeling of squishiness in my hands; I then took it a step further and imagined that there are properties intrinsic to All Balls - balls tend to have a spherical shape, they're typically things you can bounce on the floor and throw and catch; some balls are hard and brittle like glass balsl, and other balls are squishy and bouncy like basketballs. But when I bring up the concept of ball, I know what that means. So, when you speak of the idea of "ball," do other humans understand what a ball is? What if they've never had an experience with a ball or they don't speak English? How do you get across the idea of "ball" to them? This is my concern with trying to convey ideas through language - how do we know that each person is talking about the same thing when they use a given word or phrase? If you look at the writings of Descartes, he says that the only thing he found that he could reason with absolutely was the logic of mathematics itself. I like math because we know exactly what we're talking about. As for me coming across as a bible thumper and NPC, what function am I low in that causes me to do that? Is it Ti? Or what if it's actually Se? I know for sure that my Se is low because my Ne is very high, but I haven't been able to verify whether I'm logical or moralistic in my judgments yet. I use the word feel and "seems" a lot, but I think I'm actually using Ne when I do that. Anyway, I still haven't thought through this very well. And I apologize if I haven't verified my writing in this message, I would need at least an hour to do that and I don't have time good however, if that's the only way to be clear I guess that would be the more logical thing to do wouldn't it? Maybe not more logical - more effective is probably a better way to put it.

So if the ENFP is more scholarly but the ENTP is more intellectual, does this mean that when an ENFP is good at school it’s because they can just spit out all of the facts, and if an ENTP but as much effort into school as the ENFP they would be able to also understand it not just regurgitate the information?

Hello Joseph, Earlier I left a comment on the ENFJ about JP. I watched your majority of your type videos and have incorporated that into my analysis. Now I know you do not like and therefor you probably do not watch him a lot. I have watched hours of his content and watched many interviews when he describes himself and his future goals. He seems informative, initiating, and movement based. He talks about his new projects he's starting constantly and in his Schedules is constantly moving to the next thing and that what he prefers he hates stagnation by his own words. Sounds like a starter type. I believe he is an idealist as opposed to intellectual as he always for seeing the untapped potential in people and wants to bring that out in people. Bring out their Ideal future selves. Also the man talks about topics in Affiliative way as opposed to pragmatic. I believe the man has Fi and Te as opposed to the Fe and Ti. I've noticed that Fi users will state what they feel about something regardless if it disrupts social disharmony and will talk about how they will not do something or will do something because of moral obligation. There are few clips of of JP doing just that. Also after watching your videos I learned what to consider Te, when JP speaks he brings up reference points all the time constantly citing sources and their status. What's more impressive is how he remembers it all. If he had Si as his inferior function he could be tapping into his ISTJ subconscious. I'd also like to mention that in his latest talks he really harps adopting responsibility as to key to improving oneself, I assume this man talks from personal experience and if understand Si inferior correct one thing they have hard time with is adopting responsibility and routine. If that is the case that might be why he gives that advice clean your room. I actually believe you typed him correctly from the sample you had in the JP typing video, I think the problem is that you need a larger number of samples to get a more accurate average of the interaction styles used. As you yourself know that people can be in other sides of the mind. In conclusion I do not believe JP is an INTP, I will not say what his type is as I want to gather more data. I think your method of typing is good, but requires many samples to get more accurate representation over time. I know you have Te critic, but please be open to consideration. I've noticed you mentioned his type with absolute certainty in a couple videos and if there is a possibility that he's not an INTP well, I'm not sure how you would feel. I know I comment a lot, if it gets annoying just tell me to stop

Sometimes i wish i could be multi tasked but then i really dont need to be a hippie. Enfp have hip pies. That they like throwing at peoples faces who try to control them. So, to all other personalities, dont ever try stifling an enfp. Doesnt end well. Also, dont try to stifle ENTP cuz ENTP will turn D.A on your azz in a heartbeat if you piss them off. Thats cuz ENTP is DA dopest personality of all. You will never know what ENTP has up their..... This is how you know the difference between ENTP and ENF....
