I find it unfortunate that jungian psychology and stuff doesn’t seem to be taken seriously anymore because it doesn’t conform to the “modern” approach to science. If only society didn’t push it away and saw its merit in allowing us to achieve more social harmony. To me, it’s not about how “scientifically sound” a theory is. It’s about listening to the theory, verifying its merit based on a quick scan of my personal experiences, observations in the world, and general intuition. Then if it stands up, I will accept the theory. You have person A who accepts the theory, actually applies it in his day to day life, and BENEFITS from it. Then you have person B who rejected the theory and misses out on all these benefits. Moral of the story, don’t be person B - always keep your ears open.

Scientific validation doesn't work with 1 person A and 1 person B. You'd need a large group of people to test your theory and a second group to compare. For example, you take 100 people who are ENFJ according to your theory and convince them to follow your guidelines on how an ENFJ could improve themselves. You also take a second group of 100 people who are not ENFJ and let them follow the same guidelines. Afterwards, you compare the results. If the first group isn't doing significantly better, you can trash the theory. I'd love to see the results of such test because - while I'm convinced it's useful to identify personality types - I wonder for example why there would be 16 and not some other number. In my opinion, this "science" is currently at the level medicine was a 1000 years ago when the cure for fever was to let someone bleed. As soon as someone can produce undeniable and independently repeatable results, this science will be taken seriously. Until that time, it's all simply unproven theory.

You made a good point about Se nemesis worrying about giving people space. I'm an ISTJ, and The mom of the first guy I dated yelled at my mom for having an intrusive daughter. I called a couple times during the relationship. One time I accidentally called her son when he was doing homework, and he apparently didn't like it. She said girls have no business reaching out to guys, and I had no business doing that. I have trouble with social norms, so I tried to learn from this, but this has really scarred me. I still feel I have the potential to be intrusive even though I always thought I've given people enough space. I've been talking to an ISTP for almost 15 years, and waiting for him to initiate doesn't work, and I feel like I'm going against the grain all this time.

I can imagine a cartoon series could be created based on these stories with the 8 functions inside of the human mind. Like in the animation movie 'Inside out', or figures, knights sitting around the round table, debating. It would be really educational and entertaining at the same time. And it would also reach a lot of people, also children. Easy to say as a bystander, I know.

Thus giving themselves the tools to have a better life. And its all because of you so thank you so much☺️

I agree that developing the unconscious = maturity. You should totally do a lecture delineating how to get there, and how to make the most of it once you are. For example as an INFJ, when I'm in my ENFP shadow I write down all of my seemingly never ending notions, and then connect the dots & fully flesh them out once I'm back in my ego. Please never stop doing what you're doing or let anything derail you; I remember reading some of the vitriolic comments a while ago in response to your INFJ video & thinking "they're letting their reptilian brain take over & are missing the point entirely". I refuse to be one of those reactionary & immature INFJs. The reality is that so much of typology is pure common sense--what do well rounded, aspiring individuals strive to do every single day? The obvious answer is work on their weaknesses, fears, and insecurities. I suspect that this is why Jungian psych feels very much like everything coming together; at the heart of it, it's simply about becoming a fully integrated human being and the best possible version of yourself. Why on earth then, would anyone so adamantly rail against a tool that facilitates this kind of growth? It's beyond me. Anyway lol thanks for enduring the long comment & keep on keepin' on👍👍👍

I just want to say thank you for being so honest about the INFJ type. I literally teared up a few times but that's not a bad thing. I know just about everything that you say about INFJ's because I try to be as self aware as possible but to hear them out loud and to understand the damage that my flaws can do... it encourages me to stop hoping that I'm sufficiently covering up my flaws and actually fix them. Thank you.

You should give yourself more credit since you're making something new, taking its own shape, after synthesizing all these other experts! If you're steering typology understanding towards a more accurate truth, there's a lot of people depending on your fine-tuning :D Although I appreciate all the citations of everyone's ideas, the way you put it together seems to have a lot of your unique insights, too.

INTP here. I'm new to all this cognitive functions stuff and just been binge watching your vids for the past 2 weeks lol. Fascinating. Just subbed. It's like you've given me a new tool to hack away at my perception of the world and past interactions. Thanks to you I've come to understand and accept a number of personal things I'd like to mention, like why my brother and I see things completely differently and have often fallen out (I predict he's an ISFP) after listening to you I started to talk more on the moral side of things and his interest in cooking etc. and was surprised at his depth, we now tend to get on better. With my second brother he seems like an INTJ, I guess this explains why I tend to get on well with him and we would often spend long hours talking about abstract ideas like no-one else I know. There's also a 'friend' of mine who I've never quite understood. He seems to lack any logic or meaning in his actions and has really frustrated me when he starts talking about any subject I know something of; I've internally judged him as an empty-headed bleeding-heart liberal, so I think he's an ESFJ or P which I suppose would explain why we have zero in common. I'm unsure how 'solid' the whole mbti cognitive function science is, but it's definitely helped me better accept the way I think (stopped me thinking there's something wrong with me) and now helps me see beyond the differences I have with people I've interacted with. You've created so many light-bulb moments for me. Thanks. Look forward to your future vids

As someone who has Ne Nemesis, I make correlations to a woman’s relationship with her family (esp. the father), her friends, mannersisms, behavior in some instances and induce that she will become a certain type of person in the future (possibly with me). I realize that I have severe trust issues that I have to work on. I tend to not leave any stone unturned. Even a tattoo in a woman has to mean something (I think her personality is dangerous). The whole link to storytelling is really true, to me it makes total sense that we love stories , which are basically about these functions and their interplay their conflict and the cognitive transitions that are played out in story beats and moments, people that represent the nemesis or the trickster or the hero, it's definitely why we care about stories so much and always have, it's somehow part of us, even though most people will never understand these functions, it's somehow natural and we get it but under the skin understanding these functions can help us write better stories.

I get so frustrated with a certain INTJ all the time because he keeps assuming that I have bad intentions. If I prove him that I don't have bad intentions he just switches to other people and acts, just like you say, based on his assumptions about their intentions. i'm an intj and you're literally describing me :'). I guess we just need validation/reassurance at times because we know what we're doing, but we are oftentimes skeptical of others intentions. I think this is because we're always so certain about ourselves but we feel insecure and fearful about other people because we can't foresee their actions, and are scared they would sabotage a plan, relationship, etc. that we foresaw for ourselves.
@tajmarie1329

I'm an INTJ and crazy as it seems I did have one situation where my intentions were being questioned by another INTJ. I don't know what to say other than communicate with him. Somehow or some way, you would have to find out what is the issue from his point of view. Although I am still learning about cognitive functions myself, we are very much responding even though movement oriented. In other words, in most cases, we will only volunteer so much information that is requested. Therefore, you would have to dig down ask as many questions as possible to get to the bottom and find out the root cause. This may seem odd given that you are an informative type. However, I think this is very much necessary in order for both of you not to talk past one another. After all, even though there may be a general consensus that he believes you have bad intentions. What he believes is "that" very bad intention will probably be different from what you "think" that "he thinks" is that bad intention. Only thereafter will you find a resolution.

And in this particular video, you are expressing so squarely so many things I knew, but didn't systematise. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Also, love your style.

INTJ here. I can promise you I have never “jumped in with both feet” in any relationship whatsoever. 😂 In my last relationship for example, I paid for a criminal history background check as well as reading literally every post and comment on their Facebook page to get a feel for how they live their lives, the kind of people they let into their life and how those people treated them (which tells you a lot about their self-esteem or confidence).

My understanding of myself and my shadow, is in harmony with your assertion of the Shadow's attraction to the ego and its sense of preservation in the form of the Shadow's cognitive functions. The shadow comes through in our blind spots when we aren't conscious of it, or don't at least acknowledge it's presence. Do you want to make your unconscious conscious? It's a whole lot quieter when it feels seen and safe.

ahaha! I totally agree with the paranoia of the INFJ. One thing I just noticed recently. 2 of my recent romantic relationships (actually I do not think they really have been real relationships, more like romantic attempts) ended up because my "guts" told me that the girl really did not like me and that she was just being kind respect and I was bothering her so I should leave her alone. I pulled away from her and she after a while came after me wanting a date, which made me realize that I had been irrationally paranoid, and had suffered for no reason before, totally by my fault.

having never listened to this video in entirety, but having gone through a little bought with my Villain/nemisis function, I can see how this can become an ally. My current view of My Si as an ESTP is: "As your gateway into the unconcious, im gonna make you worried about things that you cannot deal with in the moment, so until you give the appropriate attention and focus on this task, I will remind you that it may fail if you dont get your act together". We will see if I change my view. edit: guess those paid cognative transition courses paid off.

Time for some Wuxia reference (9:13) in HSSB(History's Strongest Senior Brother) there's an OP growing weapon which is actually the body of the Rāhu star(which was refined into a weapon, later on got detoriated), so in chapter 608 they mention how somebody(villian) tried to suppress the Yang(Sun in this case) seal with the power of a bit of Rāhu's flames. As we know the plot armor did not allow that(tbh it actually wasn't plot armor but nvm). Tge important part: Later on the MC said this :"The Rāhu is the opposing star of the Sun, not its bane star" So imo the Hero, Nemesis and Inferior work in a similiar way, i.e. the hero's opposing function is the Nemesis , on one side they fight against each other's influence, but such fight makes both of them more tempered, on the other hand the Inferior function is the hero's Bane function since by "stimulating" it we actually deal a killing blow to the hero(e.g. nobody will try to use their Logic Hero/will use it properly if they feel like their Ethics are wrong, they'll try to focus on their Ethics). So you can view the Nemesis and Hero functions as the yin/yang equillibrium in which both of them are necessary to make a person function, whilst the Bane(inferior/demon) function is the element that defeats your main element(the Nemesis/Hero element ). At least that's how I'd interpret the cognitive functions if I were to reference the chinese philosophy of the five transformations. Tl:dr : Look at the Nemesis/Hero functions as the yin and yang of your main element and the inferior/demon function as the yin and yang kf the element beating(Bane) your hero's element. Not sure if I depicted it right xd

I'd like to share some experience with my Ne nemesis. (INTJ) Ne nemesis contains the worries of unpredictability. I am not sure what will happen. Success? Failures? Will people want you? Will things go well? etc. Ne usually exists for people to be prepared of possible outcomes. I sometimes meet this dark, unconscious mist of unpredictability. (It actually expands my consciousness because I don't do it most of the time.) The ways to handle Ne nemesis probably, well, could be the following: + : Put effort in preparing all the crazy negative scenarios in mind. Yeah it's uncomfortable and depressing and energy-draining, it's probably wise. - : Let worries freeze me into total inaction. (Si demon)

Great video I need to rewatch this many times. Btw I don’t like the term “attitude” for the purpose here and here’s why. In Jungian psychology in my interpretation, attitude means which way a focus is facing, specifically inward or outward or intro/extroverted. I guess it can be used in more than one sense but the jungian use is so prominent that it seems to me a different term would be better.

Fascinating, as always. Yes, as an INTP I worry CONSTANTLY that other people are stupid...bc if I'm in their orbit, their stupidity has a high potential of screwing up my life in some way. It can be a real problem bc I don't trust or believe anyone, including doctors, experts, etc but verifying externally rather than being lazy and letting Ti always have it's way has helped me to become a bit less worrisome (and I'm quite sure, less annoying lol) as well as helping me to make more informed, well-rounded and thoughtful decisions. It's interesting and true what you said about how after verifying, we can then trust that that particular person actually knows what they are talking about: I rarely verify anymore information my INTJ BF, my INTJ co-worker or my ENTP boss give me; bc historically speaking, they've already proven their statements to be accurate adequately to my mind. Also interesting is the fact that I hold these 3 individuals in the highest esteem. I suppose bc they've shown again and again themselves to be trustworthy in really the only way that matters to me. I'm still working (really hard) on letting people at work finish their own projects and also on letting them fail before jumping in and snatching their work away and making it my own, lol. It's very helpful to learn the worries of the different types, and it explains a lot. Not sure if it was this video or another recent one (maybe both) but I love and admire the idea/vision/goal of the whole world learning, understanding and using this info to understand and help themselves and others.

I'm currently in this situation. I'm currently trying to find out what I'm going to do in the future and I need to make the decision now. I have a hard year of studying ahead of me because any efforts I make this year will shape my future. Now my Ne nemesis is bothering my Ni and Se. It's really depressing, I feel like crap and I get these thoughts that people around me are disgusted by me, I feel like they hate me because of my looks and how I dress, or whenever I'm sitting in the class I feel like the teachers hate me, I've also let myself go and I've gained weight...these thoughts keep me up at night... I don't know what I want to do nor what I like anymore, yet I'm forced both internally and externally to make a decision and take action but I can't. I had to put myself in time out. I was also studying for a test and there was this like blanket of negativity in the chat. Anyway, I was never really one to box anyone in, and that is what I perceived was going on in chat. Anyway, I am old enough to know better. And I shouldn't have been procrastinating from my test (which I just passed, hooray!) You live, you learn, and people become quite predictable (and boring, because the just crapola is never different, or funny, or surprising). I appreciate your efforts in trying to make people take a different path, but sadly, seems they will be stubborn in remaining to pigeon hole themselves, and use their letters to justify their negative behavior, Rome wasn't built in a day, anyhow! Very interesting stuff :)
