From a retired technician, If you find something like this DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!! There are very hazardous materials and chemicals used in the manufacture of some components and it could be covered in substances like Skydrol (aviation hydraulic fluid that will make your skin itch and burn) and rocket propellant residue which is very hazardous. Watching that guy flip that piece around with his bare hands was making my skin crawl. DON"T BE THAT GUY!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't confirmed to be spacex, and they are not the only rocket company in the world. Space debris should burn up on reentry, but it isn't uncommon for pieces to make it through. We don't notice it most of the time because it typically lands in the ocean. But regardless of what rocket/satellite this is from, there's nothing casual or intentional about it lol

Also, most debris burn up completely on reentry. Only very large pieces and thermally insulated ones make it back to the surface. Companies like SpaceX also calculate the possible reentry paths of debris and they choose conditions that put that path through low population areas. It's very VERY unlikely to be struck by a piece of falling rocket/satellite debris. You're more likely to be hit by lighting 1,000 times.

Kinda irresponsible to just let stuff fall from the sky over the property of others. Clearly no warning was given or they wouldn't be guessing what it is. If private companies are allowing this to happen they should be shut down or at least be forced to warn and compensate anyone being put at risk and only with their permission.
