In this video I'm metal detecting in a few different locations. All these places have history that date back to the mid 1800's. Join me on this adventure when I save history and find really cool artifacts and old coins.

Awesome Finds! I love tokens. There is something about that. i have so many lantern parts in my backyard woods but I never get bored with finding them. I actually enjoy it :)

Thanks! You’re lucky to have woods behind you that have lots of those lantern parts. That is definitely a sign that there’s old coins near :)

Wow. Those were some awesome finds. It is so great when you can pull silvers from the ground. Not that I know yet since I've just stated and I live in Texas 😂 I'm going to keep detecting in many areas though. I'll get the great relics someday. I tried to find Mohawk casino in Canada but it kept showing me NY 🤷 I was trying to figure out about how old those tokens might be. You've got me beat by a landslide when it comes to digging those relics; an oil lamp part, what liked like fancy horse tack and the gold ring 👍👍 HH

Thanks! Keep doing research and you'll be amazed at the stuff you will find. It just takes one old house site to find loads of relics and silvers. They are hard to come by but they happen often so hopefully you will find one soon. HH

Excellent dig! I don't know, I love to find tokens. It's something different. There are so many different old tokens that is awesome to find them. In one of my Vanished Picnic videos, I found a few rare ones, not found in any token catalog. That is awesome!
@CanadianHistoryHunter4 жыл бұрын
WishMeLuck MetalDetecting thanks! And that’s awesome how you found a rare token but it sucks how you can’t find it in the catalog. The same thing happened to me and it’s frustrating not knowing what year it was made from but on the positive side of that it has to be rare if you can’t find a match in the catalogs lol
@WishMeLuckMetalDetecting4 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianHistoryHunter Correct! Those in a better condition should worth something. But most importantly is to reach the catalog and send a picture for them to investigate. So far no luck with mine. I sent one of mine to a so-called expert and bc he did not know about the token, he just said that it was common! Really? Common? That's sad coming from an "expert."

I just found my first large cent! I'm 14 and live in a small town of around 4000 people! It was founded in 1940 and I had never found anything before the 40's! So, I metal detected a school I've hit loads of times and pulled out a 1907 large cent! (Not the 1907-H sadly) I'm still in shock!!!

Congrats on that great find 🎉👍😀

@@kayesdigginit1519 Thanks! I'm so happy about it, I've never even found a king George V penny or any other coin! I still can't believe I got a 112 year old coin in a 80 year old town!
@CanadianHistoryHunter4 жыл бұрын
Congrats! I still remember the first large cent I found and it was the best feeling ever. Keep hitting that school, go up and down so you don't miss a single spot. Dig all the iffy signals as well cause it could be a coin on edge. If there was one large cent, there has to be lots more. Keep detecting and hopefully you will find amazing stuff.
@jamesedwards74424 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianHistoryHunter It's holed, so my guess is that some kid in the 40's found it in circulation and decided to make it into a necklace and brought it to school to show it off. Then he lost it! But, I'll definitely be digging there a lot more!

I metal detect in Toronto and just found your channel. I'm interested in the prehistoric and saw the arrowheads you found. You may have researched it already but if not the one from this vid is an Otter Creek type made of Onondaga chert and dates from 3,000 to 1,500 BC. The one posted on Aug/19 is a Brewerton type and dates from 4,000 to 2,000 BC. Both are pre bow and arrow and would have been the business end of a weapon called an atl atl or throwing stick. You may want to surface hunt that farmers field after its plowed and rained on for more lithics. Subbed ya so I hope you keep posting. Cheers.
@CanadianHistoryHunter3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I have found a few more lithics on that field. Do you ever hunt fields?

@@CanadianHistoryHunter I would love to hunt fields but living in the city I don't know any farmers. If you post another vid maybe you could include your other finds.Lotsa luck.

what kind of camera do you use and where are you mounting it. I would like to get something to make vids of my detectings. Thanks
@CanadianHistoryHunter4 жыл бұрын
I use my iphones camera and I don't have a mount. Whenever I do live digs I just hold my phone with one hand so it's really hard to dig and film at the same time lol

Thanks for the replies. I am a newbie in Ottawa. Big problem here is if it is not private property then it is national capital commission owned including all parks and beaches so the great places to dig are not permitted. You can detect but not dig. LOL I have not been able to detect much since I had major operation and I'm recovering but next spring I will be knocking on old farm owners doors looking for permissions to dig the Fields and bush. Do you have hard time getting permissions from people. I'm a little shy about asking. You do a damn good job holding cell and digging at same time. You must have 3 or 4 arms, maybe your really an 👽 alien LO
@CanadianHistoryHunter4 жыл бұрын
@@brentlyvideo That really sucks about the laws in Ottawa. But I'm still sure people still detect there you just have to be careful not to get caught. I'm sure you would be fine detecting in a forest there. I hope you recover soon! I have had such bad luck with permissions. I've gotten alot more no's then yeses. It's very discouraging when you get the no's and makes it even worse when the person is rude about it. But no matter how many people say no there is always gonna be a few people that say yes. I was very shy at first and still am at times but try to push through it because think about how much better you will feel if the person says yes and you end up with a handful of old coins!
@brentlyvideo4 жыл бұрын
@@CanadianHistoryHunter thanks that makes me feel better about asking permission to detect. I hope the nos are not hiding a body somewhere LOL. I did hot a beach since swimming season is over and found a quarter and pull tabs. No one on duty there off season and people still go there for fun and picnics on warm days. I'm just on my way to another beach today to try my homemade sand scoop Thanks for your great inspiring videos.

@@brentlyvideo thanks! I'm actually just about to upload another video in a few minutes. Keep detecting on the beach and you'll hopefully find some rings. Let me know if you find some good stuff
