Cuban Breakfast in Miami

Today we're in West Miami, where I grew up. When I'm in town I can't go without a traditional Cuban breakfast at institutions like Islas Canarias, a staple Cuban restaurant, and a busy ventanita (service window) on my side of town. On this episode, I have one of my favorite comfort foods, Cuban breakfast. Croquettas, eggs, seasoned potatoes, cafe con leche, tostada. It all just feels like home.

FYI the Canary Islands is a small archipelago of the coast of West Africa. Some of the natives immigrated to Cuba.

Actually, a lot of them early in the Spanish colonial period. This is why Cubans and other Spanish Caribbean people speak with a Canarian accent.

I live 5 minutes from islas canarias and I love their breakfast NOT the bacon and the croquetas are overrated they used to be better but to each is own
