Hermitcraft 9: The Gift Shop! (Ep. 86)

Today we are playing some Minecraft on the Hermitcraft Season 9 Server! We continue our museum project, gathering diamonds to finish the armor trim wing, then we find spots for dozens of new artifacts, finally we create an entirely new section of the museum underground in the form of a Museum Gift Shop! Those signs for the books really bring that downstairs area together. It would be awesome if some hermits authored some books and put them in there. JoeHills poems and maybe even Hermitcraft Recaps by Pixel riffs

You should have hermits that visit write a book and leave it in the gift shop telling you about their favorite exhibit/reviews of the museum so you can go in and read them later and get some fun feedback from everyone!

Whenever I go to the museum I usually like to get something from the gift shop, but I’m also on a budget so if it’s anything it’s a pen or pencil with the museum’s name - perhaps you could do something like that but rename sticks lol

Cub if I remembered in Ren the king's most private area where impulse held the X party there was a warden at the bottom. You should move it to the museum's deepest level like it's the ultimate bad guy and make an elevator to go down to it to set the mood right as it's a very dangerous mob.

Cub, you need to figure out what happened to the Dare Stick from the start of the season. It moved incredibly slowly, but still lead to some funny moments. You should see if it is still lurking around somewhere.

For me I am glad that it's quite costly to copy the trims. It gives diamonds a use again. Once you've got mending or have upgraded to Netherite, you don't really use diamonds anymore, so it's a win-win. Thanks Cub! All the best

Yeah but Trims are only decorative, so they are still pointless. It is just like an overpriced jukebox, sure you will probably craft 1 jukebox, but after you have 1 you will probably never craft more. Trims goes the same, you will get a couple of trims for your armor and then never use them again It would have been cool if trims give you abilities... So a snot trim may give increased damage with an axe ( similar to Piglin brutes) Others may give more speed underwater or breath longer underwater, or increased fire resistance, etc

With villager trading and the random diamond loot for a enchanting table you would barely need to mine any diamond at all in a vanilla game

Contemporary Curator here: The concept of a white room in a gallery/museum is often referred to as "The White Cube". Usually without windows but is brightly lit. This is to give the appearance of a seamless and timeless display in order to view works (or buy items in shops) without being distracted by the outside world. If you are interested the book 'Inside the White Cube- Brian O'Doherty" is a brilliant read 👌

For the villager in the gift shop, you could get a notable recognizable local celebrity, as well as an "artifact" in johnny ozone! A villager xisuma put at world height near spawn for the star trader advancement

20:46 Tipp for the Gift shop: you have a lot of valuable books in your museum. Why not sell Replicas of actual historic treasures, like the Letter to Etho from the King? Othwise, Joe would probably down dor writing some original books. Ideas: Lore behind some of the exhibits, silly Minecraft How tos, letters from Alter egos to others, that reflect an important point in Hermitcraft alter ego lore. E. G. I'm pretty sure, Doc and Grian would be pretty interested in presenting their perspective on the reasons for the chicken chaos incident.

You could spin the pottery shards sales into an activity booth, make your own pot (but you have to either pay for the sherds or pay per side of the pot). Also you could work with Zed to market the spyglass since he uses one for his spy zedvancement.

There is a robot in Pearl’s base, called Sunny that can canonically allow for communication between the Empires and Hermitcraft servers, made possible by Sausages weird and complicated lore, which was made weirder when combined with Pearl’s lore.

A super weird easter egg would be to put one of the bootleg books based on Grians episodes in the museum gift shop. I don't remember the exact story, but there was a bunch of books based on different minecraft tubers that got auto published via some amazon service a while back, with super weird scripts added over snapshots from their videos. Haven't heard about it in a while so I'm not sure if it's an ongoing problem or not

Hey Cub, if you really want to make the very best museum there ever was, I have a suggestion. But it won't be easy! Back when Ren the King still ruled, there was a party in his basement. You all participated and dressed as Xisuma. However, there was one Hermit, who mixed himself with X. BDubs had his head, but covered by X's helmet. It looks great, is certainly rare and would give your museum a touch of exotic. I'm just not sure, if BDubs died wearing that helmet, or otherwise stored his head somewhere.

Suggestion for giftshop employee: In Scar's Elven Cookie shop at spawn he had two villagers adorned with elven ears. Since then they have both been forgotten and zombified. Maybe rescue one of these rare elven villagers and restore it to full health. I think they deserve a new job.
