Plenty of people are out there looking for a solution to why their TH400 transmission is stuck in first gear so I put together a little step--by-step guide to troubleshooting the issue. I solved the problem. Unfortunately, I did these steps in the wrong order and wasted time. Hopefully this video will help you avoid that incorrect order of troubleshooting and find your trouble right away!
In this video we'll take a look at the vacuum pump on this 6.2l diesel CUCV M1028.
Next we'll check the Throttle Position Vacuum Regulator Valve, the lines and hoses, the vacuum module, the transmission governor and finally we'll get to what ACTUALLY caused the problem. Stay tuned to the end of the video so see where I made my stupid mistake!
