I have a blind cockateil. I'm Deaf. It's been a year and we're still getting to know each other. I've had birds around my entire life, so this isn't new, but she's so deathly afraid of everything. Baby steps forward, yes, but I'll take and encourage whatever confidence I get from her! All of my birds have been rescues, so getting to know them also comes with all the fears (and occasional spoils!) that their previous humans bestowed upon them. Wouldn't have it any other way, though! Each one is an absolute joy to know!

Same here. My husband is Deaf and I recently became mute. We have a blind Chihuahua (dog). @@eeveeofalltrades4780Only less expensive if they don't get sick/need vet care. My Goffin's cockatoo ended up being egg bound. It cost $3400 to keep her overnight at the ER and remove the egg. That didn't include the regular vet visit the week before when she was bleeding out her bum. She ended up passing away within 4 days after her surgery. Also, my friend at the parrot rescue we volunteer for has a conure that cost a couple of thousand to figure out why her leg was hurting. When birds need vet care, it is not cheap!

Still worked but it’s an annoyance that he did it! But we still loved our cockatiels in the end.😂

He used to play ball with my 1 year old and had full run of the house, being a part of every activity from vacuuming to ironing. Sadly, he escaped outside one day and we couldn't get him back. We offered rewards, kept hope, but to no avail. We ended up with 2 more cockatiels later, but it wasn't the same.
