Vince Sr had Lou Albano and Tony Altimore as The Sicilians complete with Mafia costumes and being pursued by a tag team known as The G Men until he had a visit from the actual Mafia and was forced to tone the gimmick down . In British wrestling there was a wrestler called Alan Kilby who was actually deaf and this was incorporated into his gimmick .

That one it with Melina is my all-time favorite Bautista moment! He never said he would call off the match, so never technically lied. He did imply he would call off the match, but Melina is the one who made that assumption and agreed to bang big Dave. After the deed had been done ( which apparently only took the length of a commercial break, because they were finished when they came back from the break) you still went out and kick their asses anyway! FUCKING LEGEND!!

Wasn't there another popular scrapped idea in the late 2000's where John Cena was rumoured to be returning as a masked luchador "Juan Cena"?? 😂😂😂 I'm sure I even remember WWE themselves mentioning it at some point lol

Wow, I completely forgot about the XFL reattempt. Also Hirohito (Showa) wasn’t the one in charge of the troops, he was the Emperor. Longest reigning one in the country’s history (1926 - 1989). It would come across as terribly disrespectful. December 23 is a national holiday for his birthday. I looked forward to it when living in Japan. ^^’

2:09 Hirohito was Emperor of Japan, grandfather of current Emperor Naruhito. He was not the "general" - You are thinking of Tojo who was shot by the allies after WW2. There was indeed a wrestler called Tojo - Tojo Yammamoto - for many decades in the US in the territories era.

Considering John Morrison would do a Jim Morrison gimmick several years later and make it a success, not sure why it would be “behind the times” in the late 90’s. Also, there was talk that Baron Von Bava was, at one point, supposed to debut alongside Hirohito and do an entire WW2 Axis powers stable.

The number 1 sounded a lot like Captain America theme from Marvel Comics. Marvel Comics would of sued over copyright infringement. See...Captain America was frozen after WW2 in order to be revived in the modern time. So...WWE was lucky they never did this gig because Marvel Comics would of owned WWE.
