What an incredible time to live, 1956. You just show up in town with nothing, and a good looking girl offers to let you live with her. Or you show up where a good looking girl is swimming and she offers to be alone with you. Or the good looking girl lets you take her car and drive, although she knows nothing about you. And people still pick up hitchhikers. (Probably didn't after watching what happens in this, though.) People with giant mansions just let you come over and swim in their pool with them. Of course, we can't forget the cool cars.

David Love/Charles Kaltenthaler (Derek) was such a handsome man, and he did a pretty good job of acting. If he had kept with it I think he could have become really good; same with Dawn Bender, they made a very appealing couple with good chemistry. He and Tom Locklear, who played Betty's reporter boyfriend, were a couple in real life. And of course, there were character greats like Harvey B Dunn (you can see him as the police chief giving a lovebird a swing ride on his eyeglasses in Ed Wood's Bride of the Monster) and King Moody (he of the amazing "TORTCHAH!!!" line delivery) who had his greatest success as Ronald McDonald in the 1970s tv ads for McDonalds! Such a great little jewel of a B flick.

It was a Movie I was wanting to see since I was a kid in 4th grade, Back in the late 50's, when I saw the trailers in the movie theater. But circumstances always prevented me from seeing it. Even later in life, I only saw some bits and pieces on TV, never the entire thing. I was a sucker for all of those low budget monster movies at the time. They didn't even bother to build a monster model--- They just found a lobster or crayfish to move around. It actually had a story, different from what I thought. I originally thought it was about some Space faring Juvenile Delinquents who were running around on Earth blasting people to skeletons with a gun they had. SO I was WRONG.
