Never thought I'd pop up on my favorite podcast. It made my day since I had to miss Adepticon, so thank you! That's one more victory for Nurgle ;) Cheers, gents!

What Henry said around the 1:00:00 mark resonated with me a lot, one artist or a group of like minded artists can have a profound effect on your development and your motivation to keep doing something. Speaking from experience I probably wouldn't be painting today if it wasn't for you guys at Cult of Paint.

Thanks for the in depth analysis, lads! Towards the end, Andy mentions Reflections by Patrick Mason? I'm trying to find the piece so I can see his holy grail, but can't seem to find it (my google-fu is lacking!). Any chance of a link?

The paint work on the slayer sword like any placing entries was phenomenal and ahead of what i could ever do, but I will say i think the concept did the heavy lifting. I thought other pieces were "painted" better but of course its always subjective and either way its a great piece!

I feel like concepts are almost as important as the painting

Great show. Hopefully you can do another episode to discuss the rest of the winning entries.

Taro is an absolute delight! Such a wonderfully positive dude. 👍 I'm always excited for your GD breakdowns, as ever I'm left equal parts motivated and intimidated 😅 the standard of entry is so high!

Hi there lads! I tell you what... seeing Raphael's and Alexandre's minis back to back, on here, I must admit I have a bit of a proud-to-be-a-french-canadian-nerd feeling today! Not to forget Julien's mini, that won gold, if I am not mistaken, in 40k. Such creativity!!! And I just love your podcast and how much respect you show to fellow hobbyists as amazing painters yourselves... cheers mates! (also, pardon my bad english, cause as you guessed it, I am french canadian too)

Im jealous that i didnt think of ever doing a reflection piece and have awesome painting skills

One thing I'll say about re-entering pieces is it gives people the chance to see GD entries that they would only have done in a photo. Much like going to a museum to see a famous painting I think if people knew they would see one of their favourite pieces in person they might be more inclined to attend events.

Something I wish I'd pointed out is we often ask for feedback on entries that fell short. I think it's a waste of knowledge not to make those changes if they have been suggested. It's a phenomenal chance to learnt from your own mistakes

Im surprised by the jovial reaction to the use of AI. Be interested to see it discussed further.
@cultofpaint7 ай бұрын
We look forward to recording that episode. The jovial reaction was more to do with the treatment online of a good mate of ours.

@@cultofpaintif you didn’t paint it, it should not be on the entry. If I put someone else’s artwork as a backdrop would that be okay? So what’s the difference with Ai. Will be Interesting to hear how you defend this one if that’s the case.

@cultofpaint I love the show and certainly don't want to see people going in on Neil. I also love his work. Excited to see it discussed further.

nice episode as always, nice to hear from Taro. Honestly for the Neil episode I'd rather the elephant in the room not even be brought up. especially given his response and the can of worms that opens up in artistic space and competition. Might get... Actually nevermind. Fuck it. Run the tape Anyways... shout out to Mike franchina and trench crusade. Also love that john blanche is on board, as well as getting a mini of that beautiful knight sculpt.

We fully intend to discuss the use of AI art in a future episode, and will use the Exodite piece as an example. We want to take our time to educate ourselves and talk to different artists to hear a variety of experiences and better understand the impact before recording an episode. We have no interest in stoking the flames of the current situation and are disgusted by the personal attacks that have been directed at certain individuals involved.

I just want to say, how much I absolutely hate the GW photography of the GD entries. Is there anything more chaf than taking a forced perspective piece and consciously deciding to photograph it from any other perspective but the intended one. Bloody 'ell.
