Loads of wonderful stuff to get into here, even when the merits of mark III and others are debated! That's not really saying a lot, but much as I could praise and scheme about those apothecaries, this second look at Tybalt Marr has been really valuable. I could see the crossed axes shoulder plate working on someone under Fafnir Rann. Besides that, it's worth noting that mk IV and Tartaros plate have some important ties. That vertical seam or bend in the kneepads could be furthering the similarities to the Tartaros leg plates. Of course with mk IV and V, anything goes, but in different ways. Heresy armour is ad hoc, but Maximus armour seemed to me - from the lovely black book art - like the (first) peak in armour customised to each legion's culture. I really wonder how that might play into mk IV kits for each legion, since the chest plates varied more...

I have to admit after getting back into collecting 40K a few years back I've had a major diversion into Heresy. I just love all the models, the aesthetic and the level of customisation, especially in the light of 10th ed. 40K dumbing army building down so much.
@hll7058 ай бұрын
55:50 It shouldn’t be just early 40K though. It’s ten flippin thousand years previous. The setting of 40K should be incredibly different. Ten thousand years of imperial stagnation, and honestly a different system of government and power balance, should matter. I think Heresy is interesting, even if I might have preferred it as more of a mythic prehistory than a setting more fleshed out than 40K. They should at least be as different as possible. I unfortunately do get the feeling that the two settings are merging as heresy has gained popularity. It’s starting to feel like 40K follows on about a century after 30K now. Not a hundred centuries after 30K.

There were rules that mentioned the emperor being on the table in the old book 8(I think) - said that Valdor had to be the warlord unless The Emperor Of Mankind was on the table. It was definitely in the plan back then..

i dont mind the new scale of the marines, i just wish they were chunkier, the new mk 3 (ignoring the helmets) looks way too skinny to me for what is meant to basically be space marine armour, with extra armour attached to it

I don't get the rabid hate (Not from you guys) against the resin vehicles. I've seen so many scuffed plastic ones covered in splits and seams, despite how applauded they are. People also just have some really bizarre and unjustified takes, like dreadnoughts being "more posable". Which just don't hold water. If anything they're less posable with fixed power cables and ammo belts. That said, I don't think they're bad kits, I just don't think the resin ones were either.
@clinch44028 ай бұрын
Resin's bad properties are generally just exacerbated with vehicles. Warping, washing, super glue hassle, weight. Plastic multipart feels inherently more poseable because of how much easier it is to work with.

Keep in mind peoples modeling abilities and experience. What's barely tricky for one person could be a large struggle for another person and ruins their build. Neither experience is more or less valid than the other. Occasionally I get used models from resellers to rescue. I come across examples across the whole spectrum of modeling skill, or effort in most cases. So when you read complaints about how easy or hard a kit is (or even a paint process or a hobby product) it helps to remind yourself of that. I even saw a Rogal Dorn tank with the side sponsons forcibly and crudely glued on the wrong side of the tank, and upside down so they still faced forward. Somebody had to try really hard to mess that one up. It's still a valid experience they had, even if due to their own inexperience or inattentiveness. Most resin vehicles didn't feel any more difficult or time consuming than plastic to me. It's just a different process. There were some outliers like the dreadclaw. ANd even outliers in the other direction such as the Sabre tank that you can build in like 20 minutes without much of a prob.
@cultofpaint8 ай бұрын
^ this. Neither are bad. But plastic is more familiar and accessible to a lot of people. More people painting heresy stuff is a good thing.

@@cultofpaint I've had some great vehicle builds with resin...and I've also had some of my worst modeling experiences with resin. I built 1 Fire Raptor and it nearly made want to quit warhammer altogether. Honestly the best resin vehicle builds (in my experience) tend to be the ones that use existing plastic sprues to help "frame" the build and keep it straight.

I really don't think GW understand how people are at saturation point with Space Marines, I know they're the bread and butter of 40k but if they dropped 30k Eldar, Orks and some more Mechanicum they'd see a huge uptick in sales for HH 2.0, in my opinion.

I’ve never played 2nd Ed HH, but my friends (who do) say that vehicles are under powered and dreadnoughts are over powered; is that your take too?
@cultofpaint8 ай бұрын
eh maybe. Dreds are certainly beastly. It's a big old fashioned clunky ruleset that you can have fun games with your mates with. That's about as rulesy as we get!
@davidwasilewski8 ай бұрын
@@cultofpaint agreed! That’s my take too, which is why I don’t play HH with my group anymore. They’ve gone down the rabbit hole of fielding primarchs and super heavies and forces with 8 dreadnoughts. Too competitive for me. To me, the whole point of HH is to play fluffy, not WAAC.

It's popular opinion that Solar Auz tank spam is not viable right now. So all those players (all 3 of them) who invested very heavily into IM or SA are in a bad spot right now.
