As someone in recovery, AA is 100% a cult and it's not needed at all. When I was in rehab I called out the AA visitors (every sunday) about the religious aspect. Now I'm English and Christian (I know it's rare) but I despise people that find people at their lowest ebb, to entrust in God. NO that's not how it works!!

Going by some of these definitions, schools could be considered cults. One thing is for sure, how to define a cult is subjective. Asking an expert what a cult is would serve only to expose their opinions.

Experts are experts because of their deep knowledge on a subject. Their opinions are more informed. The FBI has defined what a cult is, so it's not exactly subjective, in my opinion.

Well I really don't understand or don't believe you when you say "i've been following since the beginning..." I don't believe you or don't understand because if what you say is true, you'd know he's been wayyy grumpier in previous episodes. Tbf and tbh I've criticized him in the comments of previous episodes because of said grumpiness but i've stopped because it's pointless because it's just the way he is (i am grumpy myself) but he's also lightened up as well, at least to me it seems.

I actually enjoy learning about random subjects. Sometimes I have no interest, usually I do, sometimes the guest annoys me. The Watergate guest was so awkward, he was like Jack to the 12th power. Don't tell me why I watch things. Jim clearly loves learning random things as much as me and the fact you don't see a value in it is a fault in your person. Learning new things is great. If you don't like it it doesn't make you a worse person or stupid. Some people get done learning. "I can exist on my own now, I'm done with learning." Perfectly valid position.

All religions have some concept of an afterlife... after all that's the bait took hook you in & they never have to pay up! Also religions have worship, prayer, a doctrine & and a belief in one or more gods.. Yes.. even Buddhist have worship, prayer, doctrine, a belief in an afterlife (reincarnation) & many believe buddha is a god... but then you get into the splinter effect of religion how people keep breaking off to form their own to suit the way they want it to be... completely allocate... pick and choose what you wish to believe.. absolute bonkers. We need vastly better education system.. not that would effect religious, but having a more informed & educated people would certainly reduce the amount of people that are lured in to cults (and a whole array of other benefits!)
