@@theflexitariantimes8140 I wish there were more channels like yours that promote flexitarianism. I would say that veganism is even better, but some people are only open to significantly reducing. A large number of them would make a bigger influence than a small number of vegans, as far as dealing with the environmental crisis.

From "I cant imagine this!" to "I cant imagine living without this!" such a great way to put it. Im hopeful for a greener future. Now how about all the plastic in the ocean getting absorbed by fish tissue and bioaccumulating, then people eating it and dying from plastic consumption and accumulation. Thats the #1 issue is our ocean.

This, as a vegan, brings me a lot more hope than anything else. Yes, being a vegan is important, but obviously on the macro scale nothing can compete with pure economics and innovation. People in a few generations will be vegan purely coincidentally, and people will have to go out of their way to not be vegan. It's an amazing time to live, and I think this will revolutionize how humans live and care for the planet we share more than anything in our history. And it's happening THIS DECADE. And it won't stop once it has set root either. I'm so excited to see the future where vegans can eat a McDouble and eat a McFlurry. How cool isn't that?

Fantastic video! The investment comparison in particular really highlights how we're going to see an acceleration of progress. Not only will this be cheaper, equally healthy and use less land, water and energy, but it will also provide humankind with a more stable food supply, which I think is absolutely essential long term. Not to mention, of course, all the animals who won't have to suffer anymore. Truly a win-win situation even if traditional meat will continue to be in large demand for the next few decades.

Whether it will replace meat is yet too be seen. Hopefully they will soon move past mince to steak & fillet type cuts. then they will own 90% of the market.
@theflexitariantimes81403 жыл бұрын
Agreed. They are working on scaffolds and also the culture of fats, but it is difficult to imagine a convincing medium rare ribeye steak ever being created in this way. My guess is that so much of a cattle's value will be replaced with cultured alternatives that 'real' steak will become a rare delicacy available from artisan producers. Eventually completely novel cultured formulations will arise that people really like, and that over a generation, these will become preferred by most people.

Consumers fail to adopt excellent products every day... ofter for little or no reason... Given the suspicious nature of so many consumers, adoption rates may be Significantly lower than any eventual product can tolerate in the market space on a high volume low cost basis.

@mortred41443 жыл бұрын
There would be still demand for real animal meat. But since it's lower maybe with right regulation we could get rid of horrific giant farms. Instead we could have small to mid sized farms operated by families with humane conditions as an alternative.
@theflexitariantimes81403 жыл бұрын
@@mortred4144 I think that's a pretty realistic scenario.
@gingerbaker13 жыл бұрын
@@theflexitariantimes8140 Exactly what "heavy price" are you taking about? Crop agriculture has significantly more GHG footprint than the entire livestock industry (which supplies hundreds of useful products besides food) , according to the EPA. And your product will be relying heavily on the products of crop agriculture.
@rebellyousfoods3 жыл бұрын
@@gingerbaker1 In raw numbers, crop ag may be responsible for a larger total GHG footprint, but the portion of it that finds its way into our diets via animal agriculture does so in 10X - 20X less efficient manner, and this is before taking into account fresh water usage, antibacterial resistance, aquifer contamination, etc. Lots of venture capital funded progress is being made to replace the several (not hundreds) other useful bi products of animal rendering. And cellular or cultured meat, unlike plant-based meat, makes precisely zero use of the products of crop agriculture.
