The tbi 350 is hard to beat. I bought my k5 Jimmy new in 90 and it's still going strong. It makes good low end off idle,and she just turned 330k on all original running gear.

You can’t beat a mid eighties early nineties square body. They are modern enough to have good options like power windows, door locks, a/c, fuel injection and overdrive. Yet they are simple enough to be fixed with an adjustable wrench and a screw driver.

Can't wait to see this rig evolve. Im putting together a 79 high pinion 60/dana 70 for my 89 burb. Still flipping a coin on a 6.0 or 383tbi.

Love all your content. Finally picked up a 99 cummins 24 valve, with trans and tcase for my burb build. Using burb for family trips and to tow my jeep. Which trailer and jeep are about 7500lbs. The tbi350 does not like it, lol. Has served well for 2 years, but time for the upgrade. Leaning toward 05+ superduty axles with coils for ride quality and the large brakes. Do yourself a favor check out rob bonney fab and get that Cummins put in there right! I have built the same thing but with a built NV 4500. After a ton of research I believe his motor mounts are the only way. Also move the firewall back a inch behind the motor make the pinch weld by the bell housing flat. You will still have room for all the stock hvac.Get a 1 inch body lift gets you all the room you need. Set the motor back as far as you can, gets you room for a mechanical fan and helps the diff clear the oil pan at full bump.

Marrick, I did not see what you did for the fuel system. Were you able to reuse your factory tank? I have a Fass Fuel system to replace my lift pump on my 24v. I'm planning to retain my 40 gallon tank for range and capacity. Just ordered the AFW crossmember and Dueling Design frame plates.

Going to be a Sweet ride, i'm kind of sorry i didn't go the cummings route with my 90 suburban, i did the 383 stroker motor instead, i wasn't planning on the suburban being the workhorse it is since my 91 blazer has all the cool stuff, (coil overs, dana 60.14 bolt etc) but now my Sub has almost the same parts it is going to be as capable as the blazer and easier to park than my 89 V3500 crew cab dually, really looking forward to your build because who knows maybe ill end up settling on one rig

I want to build a 1988 Suburban beast one day. Had a 1997 Tahoe on 37's & besides being a clapped out heap it was fun as hell! My biggest debate is 12v Cummins, or LSX 454?!

Any issues with front end weight? I’m about to EFI my 350 on my K5 until I can do something more permanent like this. My 6.7 Cummins is pretty amazing I would sure love to pair it with a 5.9 in the Blazer.

Yes it is significantly heavier. New custom leaf springs and air bags out back to help when towing.

Is that a 3917700 exhaust manifold? I just bought a CPL1550 from a 1995 Dodge 2500 with 164k miles to transplant into a 2005 Suburban 2500. I have been looking at using the 3917700 manifold as an option.
