I sometimes think the epa sets unreasonable standards to meet so they can push the EV.

As a tech, I do like how everything isn't in a big box. After treatment alone keeps me employed.

And THAT is just it. The US government in all of its elitist “wisdom” cramming these restrictive epa standards down every engine and vehicle manufacturers throats AND end buyers (us) to the point its breaking people, putting some out of business completely or sending regular guys to the poor house while the rest of the world doesn’t GAF about emissions. What sense does it make to financially ruin people while every second and third world country in the world just continues to dump as much emissions as they want. It DOESNT. For every gram of carbon or NOX this country eliminates, tons are expelled into THE SAME freaking atmosphere this country is supposedly cleaning up. There’s something wrong when a regular guy is forced to pay $70k + for a new pickup truck with a diesel engine that’s nothing more than a ticking time bomb which WILL eventually shit itself and cost him $10k + for a replacement aftertreatment system simply because the system ISNT modular and can’t be maintained. And the poor sap who thinks he’s going to get rich paying $200k - $250k for a new semi ??? It’s asinine. EVERY normal person in the world knows you don’t feed an engine carbon, yet EGR STILL remains. I’ve seen pistons so carbon packed it’s a miracle they were still able to move up and down. And the amount of money companies like Cummins spends in warranty because of egr has got to be astronomical. F the epa F egr.

We’re now fully in the area of diminishing marginal utility when it comes to diesel after treatment systems. It’s costing a lot of money to only make very small gains in emissions reduction. Hopefully the incoming Trump administration rolls back some of the nonsense. Yes we want a clean environment, but we also have to be able to afford to live and work.

Before you know it we are going to need a gas engine to run the emission system

Its a sad day when the after treatment is almost larger than the engine. Cat was the only smart one & quit making on highway engines!😂 How much money is being spent to catch how many grams of exhaust particulate??. The smog rule should be what comes out of the turbo is what it is not expensive & troublesome after treatment!!
@pdmustgtd10132 ай бұрын
Good thing you don't know what you're talking about. Cat did try for 3 FREAKING yrs with International and Mann. They were so far behind other one else soooo they GAVE UP after spending millions trying to make engine to not use DEF. Guess what they use DEF now in LOL
@youtubeisawesome24872 ай бұрын
its not the carbon its the nox gas from combustion.
@lungelinecowboy2 ай бұрын
@@pdmustgtd1013Cat wasn't wrong. Overseas they are meeting emissions without using DEF. Some of these engines can even be brought over here and not need def to meet our emissions standards.
@pdmustgtd10132 ай бұрын
@@lungelinecowboy You're wrong too emission standards in this country are far higher than rest of the world. Plus we started out far earlier than rest of the world. None of European engines meet US emission standards. Fact Europe was using DEF fluid before us but didn't use DPF. We here in US first to use DEF/SCR with DPF together. Keep trying wow

@@pdmustgtd1013 yeah that's the problem emissions stadards are toohigh , c.a.r.b.and e.p.a. will never be happy, even if everyone goes to electric vehicles they are already talking about brake & tire wear emissions( they don't know when to quit) how much $$$ money has been spent on all the emissions B.S.??. What engine mfg or tree hugging organization do you get $$$ from ( notice i didn't say work !!)

the one thing these guys wont brag about it how unreliable these systems get once you have a few hundred thousand miles on them and you have a doser valve fail or you get some corrosion in ONE wire that makes the computer quit doing regen and derates you to an almost undrivable rate. or the def pump takes a crap. and then you are sitting at a dealer for a few days just to get your truck in the shop and then they have to order parts which may and may not be on national back order. but yeah lets talk about how fantastic these unreliable systems are. the x15 is a great motor, the emissions system is complete garbage.
