Honestly a video showing how each setting directly affects the supports would be great!

Hey!! So this is just the beginning of the series so I will be tackling all those issues but I got to start at ground zero to help everyone.

This was a great introduction to the thinking behind using supports. I hope in future videos you'll be able to show practical examples of well placed support and poorly placed supports. I have trouble with the supports themselves failing, thus the model failing. And when to use "build plate only". Actual examples of the prints you make using different support types and parameters will be really helpful. Thanks for your great videos. Hey! Thanks for the comment! Yeah this is just the start I don’t really know how many videos I’ll be making on supports but I’ll keep going until I answer all the questions and issues. If you got other issues let me know.

Looking forward to this series. My largest printing problem is the supports sticking to the model and leaving horrible scaring and gouges in the model after removal. I would love to learn how to fix this issue,

I’m dealing with the same exact situation, I started a new 3d print project yesterday and this morning when I woke up print looked so good until I began to take the supports off and it left defects behind. My brother told me to use tree supports since they come off a lot cleaner.

I've watched countless videos of yours, and I've learned a lot! Great information that's presented in an easy to understand way! I just recently subscribed and turned on notifications, in hopes to learn even more! The only critique I have is I noticed a repetitive use of the word "actually." No, it doesn't affect your presentation but I caught myself getting distracted by the repetition lol. Again, love your stuff and I hope you take the mention light-heartedly!

One thing you didn't mention with the support angle test piece is that it is a good idea to also rotate it 90, 180 and 270 degrees as the facing of the overhang/bridge can affect how well it gets cooled. One thing which can help with minimising supports (or increasing the threshold angle) is to print inner walls before outer walls as the new outer wall will have contact in two directions - the inner wall of that layer and the outer wall of the previous layer.

I just came across your videos, as a beginner I can tell I'm going to learn a lot as I watch more. I am curious to know if you have done one on taking a file from a source like Makers world and modifying it to your needs? This is something I'd like to learn. Thanks for your time.

thank you for this video on reminders of the use of 3d printing supports. Is there a similar video planned on the use of 3d supports downloaded from the Cura marketpkace ? Bruno from France.

The hardest thing with Tree supports seems to be the breakaway best settings as i find some prints work great and easy breakaway. Others miniatures seem to meld to the tree support and running the underneath and make for hard breakaway of the support. I appreciate any advice, best settings, tips to look at to improve this?

G'Day. Your videos are a big help for me as a beginner. However I really truly need to know is there a function on cura where I can once an item is highlighted I can type in the ratio size I need, eg: 1/70, like you see on model boxes. Wanting to make a big garden diorama but I need to keep everything in ratio. Please say yes and its easy as all hell to do.

Thank you for this particular video, it solved a failure I kept having. One question though. Should the maximum branch angle match your support overhang angle, or will that require another print test with a different model? Cheers!

I'm having problems with my Bampu P1S, or Studio, don't know which. Probably user error. Anyway let's take a simple problem. We start with a cube then offset two holes, one on either side and one larger and one smaller and slightly offset with a 1mm wall separating them. This is designed in Fusion 360. When I try to slice it, I get a warning that there are floating areas and I need to enable supports. When I do this, I get supports both underneath the cube as well as in the holes. the supports are very hard to remove, aren't clean and make stryations in the bottom surface of the cube and also change the top of the cube in different weird ways. What's going on and how do I correct this. I'd love to send pics. If I try to slice and print without supports, it doesn't stick to the plate and the print fails. HHHEeeeeLLLLLPpPPPP!!!!

I have some airplane models that I have not figured out how to print...It seems like I have to slice them into several models to get them to print properly.

I just want to know if it's possible to have brim on supports only in cura. I can only reduce the brim width but no way I can remove brim on the main model completely.
@ItsMeaDMaDe
@ItsMeaDMaDe 4 ай бұрын
Yes! You can have brims on just supports. I’ll be covering out how in the a future video in this series
@ItsMeaDMaDe
@ItsMeaDMaDe 4 ай бұрын
To fix your issue now just search “enable support brim” that will only give supports brims.
@sherlockhomes9919
@sherlockhomes9919 4 ай бұрын
@@ItsMeaDMaDe I did check that option but it still created brims on the main model so I used the wall brim setting instead. I'm using the latest version. Will try again tom. Tnx.
