Thanks for making that more clear. Suggestion, make a tutorial to similarly clarify the speed setting for the percentage or degree of overhang. Those really confuse me

Many thanks Chris, another great tutorial. I was struggling with this just a couple of days ago. You made much more sense than the Bambu wiki. Keep up the good work.

Awesome I’m glad I could help. I really struggled with this for a while. Glad I could clear up some confusion on the topic

Thank you, I just got a new Bambu printer, this is saving me some time and pooop shoot diaper cleanup. I really appreciate your channel and what you are doing.😊

Well not new to 3D printing but still a novice I just ordered a Bambu Lab A1 Combo & A1 Mini and I have spent the whole weekend watching your Bambu Studio Tutorials.. fantastic your talent of explanation & info is great.. Keep up the great work.. I will be looking into joining your Patron in the new year...

Threshold angle is the complimentary angle of the overhang angle. Nuff said!

That was information that I needed. Thank you. Most other videos seem to skip over this part.

Arg! I been looking at the angle backwards too! No wonder why it was never working right for me. LOL Thank you for clarifying!

Thanks for the info.

Nice and informative. About the angle thing being backwards, for me that is normal. I've studied physics and math and every angle is measured from the ground, as a reference. So the Cura thing is backwards.
@DrewQuinton4 ай бұрын
To demonstrate you could just bring up this overhang model in slicer, adjust the threshold angle and slice to see where supports show up. Then change the threshold angle and slice again to see what's different

Any chance you can make up the same cheat sheet for all Bambu nozzle sizes (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8)? Great video and very helpful.

Thans, very informative, your a great instructor.

The reason it is measured from the bed is because that is how it would be done in a math class. 0° is horizontal, not vertical. Not only does it make sense, it’s how we teach people to do it lol. That said, I understand why overhang angle makes sense too.
@MF-Creations9 ай бұрын
The problem with going from the vertical to calculate angle is that a model may not always have a vertical surface, so it makes more sense to go from the horizontal build plate.

Nice information. Appreciate the discussion. So, I don't have to know what my overhangs are in my prints, just need to know what angle needs supports. So, should I always enable supports and put in a good threshold angle based on tests I have run?

Wouldn't that angle change based on orientation on the build plate because of the cooling fan location.
@ItsMeaDMaDe10 ай бұрын
That’s an interesting point Denny I haven’t experienced it to be different cause it’s the angle it can print before failure so the orientation might give different angles but it wouldn’t effect what angle prints well. Least that’s my theory. Might be worth testing.

How about how to adjust settings to get parts to break away easier. What settings, patterns, number of interface layers do what.

any tips for changing Top Z Distance for support? having a rough time taking off support from prints printed with PLA+ and support is also PLA+

I hear you can use petg supports. Haven't tried it yet but seems cool also I would just use the interface layer but like I said haven't tried it
@Mykeelk5 ай бұрын
I use PETG as the support interface all of the time with great success. Make sure your base support material is the main material, or you'll waste a ton of filament & time.

Chris, for a Bambu tutorial, your Cura test piece really should be remixed. Why not just label the sections with the Bambu angle definitions? (70 should be labelled as the 20 that Bambu recognises, etc) And for the avoidance of doubt, label the test piece as being for Bambu. 2 minutes work at most, and confusion eliminated!

gravity acts in the vertical plane so its obvious that the angle will be to the bed.

Sorry you didn’t get the cheat sheet. Some email providers send it to spam so you may want to check your spam box.

You're def not wrong. Why does bambu do it backwards. How dumb on their part. The industry needs to stick with standards. For a company that does such a good job making things user friendly. They fail on the overhang threshold thing. Your explanation helps a ton.

sure, the youtube algo prefers videos that are longer than 10 minutes, but please.. if, like in this case, you have only 5 seconds worth of information to tell, make a short video !! you will never be really successfull with videos like these.. dont get fooled by the friendly sounding comments. this video must have been much work.. for 500 likes on 15k views.. thats no good
