I think the show didnt like that synth, and likely switched with another instrument. That seems to be the only difference to me.

You mean re-recorded the piece? I doubt it. None of the music was written or performed for the show. Larry chose it all from the copyright-free public domain. The piece called 'frolic' that is played during the opening and closing credits sequence, Larry originally heard on a bank advertisement.

that is interesting. I did not know that. But still, I'm fairly certain the that synth is given a different instrumentation for the piece used in the show. It doesn't mean necessarily that it was performed for the show. Composers may have many different versions of things floating around. I'll have to find it again. That is a very interesting fact though.
