That is a step down shower. Even that lip edge is considered a curb to most people. Zero transition showers are my favorite. Beautiful work. Love your channel.

Semantics. As he mentioned at the start "true curbless entry" would slope towards the wall opposing entry. It's an awkward feeling standing on a transverse slope
@karenmitchell68143 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand? At the far end, where the entrance/door to the shower is, it’s flat. No step down going in or lip to step over. The lip is only at the end where the shower head & glass will be. Did you see his other video with the whole shower complete?
@20somthingrealestate3 жыл бұрын
@@karenmitchell6814 it's definitely not a step down shower. And the lip created by the transition is not a curb. So therefore it is curbless. Does it have zero transition to the shower pan? No. The reason it's done this way is because standing on a sideways slope would be awkward and imo the aesthetics wouldn't matter to anyone with thought because they'd be looking at it thinking how awkward it would be to shower sideways every time if it was done the other way.

If you want to check for square on those little tapered tiles on the transition you could use a combination square. It might go by another name where you're at, but it's basically a ruler that clamps into a body which forms a 90 degree angle between the body and ruler. (Most have a little level bubble and also a part on the body that can do a 45 degree angle for miters as well). You could set the depth of the ruler to be just level with the sloped floor of the shower, and register the body of the square against the bathroom floor. Love the videos man. I'm a plumber and where I'm at it's pretty typical for plumbers to install the shower pan liner at the same time as we install the shower drain. Thanks to you and your team I've learned lots of ways to do better installations, and hopefully lead to better long term performance for our customers. Thank you!

Love watching your work and the explanations as to "why" you do what you do. After experiencing a contractor that was in WAY over his head on our bathroom remodel it's nice to see someone who knows what they're doing. If only I could get you to come to Oklahoma and re-do our curbless transition shower floor so the water actually drained into the infinity drain vs us having to squeezy and put a towel down to soak up the 'leaking out of the shower' water... that would be fantastic!!

Love your videos, but I disagree about the location of the drain. I Always put the drain in the back of shower if possible. This is to prevent water from leaking through the gap at the glass door. I actually set my glass 1" in from grout line on the sloped tile to avoid this from happening. Thank you for the fantastic videos! Your channel is very informative 👍

Peanut butter celery as a kid too. I think a speed square on your substrate for the 90 check would be good enough but I use an Empire 16" adjustable square for tight spots like that taper to 0 degrees. Just my way so not saying there aren't better ways. I appreciate the video btw, keep up the good posts.

I'm a contractor and I have an issue with a client who wants to install very large floor tiles in a walk in shower but without transition. They want a wet area where the bathtub will be located. What do you suggest? How to create a slope and have very large tiles without doing the envelope technique and not have issues with water puddling in the shower and/or large tiles not be over or under the line of the linear drain?

You can avoid this step or lip by changing location of your drain to the paralel wall. Shower floor design always depends on the drain location ! Customers should speak with the tile setter before they going to purchase the tile and do plumbing work, my opinion. Good luck with your renovation!
