As someone who just came across your channel, via a friend’s fb post referencing the Potters House, I’ve been binge watching and now going through the playlists etc. I haven’t been watching any streaming movies or tv series other than yours! You and your family and friends show what care, respect and compassion are about. Alex your commentary while going through things often has me laughing and just keeps me engaged. Always glad to see Melissa along as well the kids. Best to you as you move forward.

Thanks, Alex and Melissa, for your great videos. When you did the first walk-through on the house I could see that there was SO MUCH STUFF but not a lot of value. You went over and above to clean out the home. My husband and I helped clear out our parents' houses, both absolutely crammed full. We vowed never to leave that task to our kids so have done a major downsize and declutter. It's been quite freeing and surprisingly easy to let stuff go.

Not that I’m wishing for it very soon as I know people need to travel for the holidays. Some of my favorite, most successful you-tubers have been offered shows and turned them down due to the inability to have freedom and do what you want! Now, what they are doing is selling products related to what they do - that is so valuable to a company!

It’s nearly sunny Summer here in New Zealand. We don’t have snow in most parts here even in Winter. So lovely to see the snow but the temps are way cold! I have had a back injury which has left me having to rest for the last 4 weeks and have the opp to catch up on all your series. Loved The Potters House and the Musicians house and ploughing my way through YOUR house build now. I love the honest transparent manner in which you both conduct all aspects of the business and the wholesome nature overall. Just refreshing!! The ever thoughtfulness and consideration of others with the empathetic narrative in helping others. And amazing how open you are about costs and what the profit makes for you. Plus the great parents you are which in turn have returned a great investment in having wonderful children. ( They are all beautiful ) Sending Love and blessings from Auckland, New Zealand. 🍃💕🍃

I've watched this latest house clean out, and it seemed to be the usual incredible amount of hard labor, and I know we only see a fraction of it all. If you break the amount of work, and the hours you spent working there, is this one actually going to profitable. Even if it is profitable, you have to look back and ask yourself, was it worth it all??? So much of the work, the lifting and bending, especially if you have a bad back, just seems exhausting. I do love watching the content, seeing what you come across, this one just didn't seem as profitable from the looks of it as you were working at the house. Thank goodness for good friends and your wonderful family, they're so much help and by this time, I expect they're getting pretty darned good at accessing the whole work/value conversation. I really like that Hans and his wife are always thinking of others they know who might be able to use some of the things that might not be worth re-selling, or hauling to the auction, but they're still useful. Why toss things into landfills when they can still be of use to someone. You're all very good at being mindful of this.

We bought a run down house and renovated it into two dwellings. We rented it out afterwards but the tenants wrecked our hard work. We fixed it again and sold it. Lesson learned, in Canada, tenants have more rights than landlords. So, if you do this, I recommend you flip the house after renovation rather than renting it out.

Alex, that's too bad about the HGTV producers taking your ideas and using them to do a show with someone else. Can't say I'm surprised, though. My brother-in-law is a general contractor and was in negotiations to do a show as a contractor who builds homes in challenging locations. Places like mountainsides, remote locations, etc. He even did a "sizzle reel" for them. But then his contact within the network ended being replaced by someone else who never moved forward with the idea. Probably was for the better, both in his case and in yours. Personally, I dislike when shows plant fake "discoveries" or throw in some "unforseen challenges" to spice things up. I much prefer knowing that what you post on your channel is real life, not something fabricated for views.

Your experience with the tv production company is pretty standard. They sign agreements with so many people, not just interesting KZbin channel creators, then do nothing with them or, like in your case, introduce other conditions that don't work for the creators. Thankfully, you don't care, nor should anyone working with these companies. **Didn't the Mr. Beast show blow up in their faces?
