Tip that has been working for me: after I rinse out my conditioner in the shower and apply my leave in, I clip my hair back up (in one big clip for this step) and put a plastic cap on for about 5 mins after getting out of the shower. The goal is to let the leave in conditioner benefit from the steam in the shower

My shower hack: Rotate shampoos. I have a protein one, a moisturising detangling one, a clarifying one, Olaplex Bond building shampoo and a scalp treatment shampoo. Sometimes they overlap like I think the Olaplex one is very moisturising as it's sulfate-free.

In addition to the tips given in this video, I would like to suggest to every type 4 person out there to detangle their hair when the pre - poo has fully absorbed into the hair that way you are ridding the hair of all tangles and shed hair accumulated within the days of not managing or manipulating your hair. Then put your hair in a few loose plaits prior to shampooing. Make sure that the plaits are loose at the area close to the scalp to ensure easy access and thorough cleansing of the scalp. You can still condition or deep condition with the plaits, just work it in very well. That way, you do not need to detangle while in the shower since you did not wash your hair in its loose form and it tangles back up. This way you will save tons of time during wash day. Have a great weekend, Tonya!

Before I even watched this video, I already do the 'hair first then body' method. I also like to pre-poo (coconut oil) the night before a wash day and get it all sectioned up. That way in the morning I can just go straight into the shower. One more thing, if it can help, I know wash day can be long for some and vary from person to person but you can always play some music, while you are in the bathroom. Make it fun instead of boring.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your hacks! On my wash day what I normally do is once I’m done washing my hair.. I put on my deep conditioner, put a plastic shower cap & then I go on to do my body. ONCE I’m done & keep my deep conditioner in & sit under a hooded dryer for aprx 30 mins. Once that’s done I just put my hair under the faucet to rise the deep conditioner out & from there I go on to style my hair! I refuse to go back into that shower once I’m out & dry & dressed!!! 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙂🙂🙂

I put my hair in a few loose twists (about 8) while prepooing, and keep it in twists whilst washing and conditioning, (I untwist each to condition though, then twist back up to rinse out) so in that way it doesn't tangle. When I come out of the bathroom it's just to squeeze out the excess and let it airdry, and when it's time to style- it's already detangled, so easy peasy!

My shower hack is doing as much as you can before hopping in the shower. I detangle with oil and put into sections before getting into the shower. After detangling and putting my hair in sections I add my onion juice prepoo. Then I jump into the shower to rinse and shampoo. My hair is high porosity and this method makes my wash day go by a little faster.

I love washing my hair (locs) while taking shower on wash day… because it steaming and it easier. I wash then condition while I wash my body then I rinse out. I like to use a cotton Tshirt instead of a towel. Then I oil my scalp and hair and air dry… thanks for the confirmation of what I’m doing is good for my hair.

My wash day hacks: 1- Using nozzle applicator for almost EVERYTHING: hot oil treatment, aloe vera juice or gel, tea rinses, shampoo 2- Gently finger detangling my hair throughout my wash day, I found that finger detangling at only one step of the wash day isn't effective for me. 3- Add essential oils to your shampoo (once at a time!), I mean, I personally put some shampoo in a clean empty applicator bottle then add some water and then some essential oil drops and shake ! My scalp feels good, clean and tangly. I use Peppermint, Tea Trea and sometimes rosemary oils. 4- Scalp massaging brushes add to the tingles and makes me feel the cleanliness and the blood flow of my scalp 5- Having a shower mirror! Seeing my hair adds to the guidance that feeling my hair gives me, because sometimes I might feel that I took care of all my hair but surprisingly my mirror shows me I didn't rinse something out properly 😅 6- YES OILS !!! BEFORE AND AFTER SHAMPOOING! YES PREPOOING 7- Invest in cleaning gloves! I hate the feeling of having my hand directly touching my wet shed hair in the shower drain 😫 Not sure if that's it 🤔

@@sunrae7680 I used to do that when I was making @Naptural85 Black soap shampoo. It wasn't bad but I didn't fall in love with it. You can also try oiling your scalp and add a layer of oil on top of your conditioner or deep conditioner. I personally do like this because it allows me to rinse the greasy film with the conditioner while still benefiting from the oil and its nourishing and sealing properties. I actually got this technique from Whitney White aka @Naptural85 , she used to do this before she formulated her brand's multi-use pure oil blend that doesn't leave the greasy and heavy feeling (Melanin haircare). I got a shower mirror and started using a conditioner to detangle before I put my deep conditioner in. I think I am using most of the techniques you mentioned. I think the nozzle technique is most helpful, I've been using this for almost 2 years (thx to BBO products 😀) I do the apply conditioner in the shower, then put my plastic caps on. Shower mirror is also helpful 😌. Doing everything in sections definitely helps too. I do my hair in at least 6- 8 sections. Thanks for "permitting" the in shower steam treatment. I went from rinsing my hair then deep conditioning under a heat cap and then doing the shampoo routine so I wouldn't have to get in and out of the shower, to now pre poo, shampoo, deep condition, out of the shower under heat, back in the shower to rinse...😭 My wash days take HOURS and it can be frustrating sometimes. I get a mindset shift could be helpful but time is time. So I think I will start steam treating and doing more body care while the hair mask is steaming. I get very rigid in my thinking at times and believe there's only 1 way to achieve results so it was nice to hear that results can be achieved in another way and in a lot less time. Hope it works out for me. Thanks!💕

Your shower WD tips are on point and happy that I use the majority of them too. I try to conserve water by prepoo detangling, massaging shampoo onto my scalp in sections (game changer!) out of the shower then wash, rinse & apply conditioner in the shower; I rinse out conditioner with detached shower nozzle after I've showered as I like to leave it in for 20-30min; also I just squeeze out the excess water and apply leave in/oil & don't use any towels on my hair. As home spa day treat, I use facial steamer for my face AND hair as I apply and comb through DC twice a month. FYI love your PMP method works great for my hair :)

Your hair is looking good! The shampoo in a nozzle bottle is a really good idea. I used to use hair ties to section but I think they were too damaging. I just bought the crocodile clips and I am not going back to the hair ties. I don't know why I didn't switch to the clips sooner I see everyone using them. TJ Maxx always has them for cheap.

I do most of these except I wash my hair in twists instead of using sections and I don’t use clips in the shower. I also don’t detangle my hair in the shower. These wash day conversations are always fascinating to me. I’m always intrigued by people who say they detangle their hair in the shower. I have never been able to do that except for the first year of being natural. I don’t know if it is because of the texture, thickness or length of my hair, but I can’t separate it at all when it is soaking wet. I usually detangle my hair before I place the washing twists and then again once my hair is 70-90% dry. This has been the most effective method for me for at least 10 years.

I used the greenhouse effect when applying leave-in, and then again when I finish my LCO method. Meaning, I apply leave-in first and put a plastic cap on my head while I take care of my body after getting out of the shower. The heat allows the leave-in to get into my strands. Once I finish the body lotions, etc., I then get the LCO process completed and wear the plastic cap to let the heat stimulate the products. I'll be honest, since watching your channel, my hair has been growing. While I was home (a lot) due to the pandemic, my hair grew. The first chance I could get out, I went to get a hair cut and I chopped off 12 inches. Yes, my hair grew fast during the pandemic because I had a lot of time on my hands to be consistent with my hair processes. Amazing! Thank for all that you share.
@latasiatatum59963 жыл бұрын
After putting your leave in and shower cap on for the greenhouse effect, when you proceed to the LCO do you add more leave in or just use water then cream then oil?
@lulubellek39883 жыл бұрын
@@latasiatatum5996 The leave-in simply primes the hair to receive whatever else is going to be applied afterwards. The greenhouse method allows the product to truly soak into the stands faster before applying the moisturizer and oil. I have low porosity hair and that's why I use the greenhouse before layering products. So, it's leave-in, greenhouse, moisturizer, greenhouse, then oil to hold everything in. It sounds laborious, but it isn't. I love giving my hair the best care for its type. Using this method does make my hair grow at a rapid pace. During the pandemic my hair grew a lot. The first chance I could get a professional haircut, I chopped off 12 inches. That left my hair in a cute bob just at the top part of my neck. I didn't want my hair to touch my shoulders. Genetics play a part as I'm Blacian, so I share with authenticity. I have very thick, course, low porosity hair. I hope this helps.

Can you add some advice/hacks on those of us naturals with locs??? I enjoy and learn much from your expertise but I feel much relates to those with loose naturals.

Oh rinse off pre-poo then shampoo. I didn't get that memo. Been shampooing my pre-poo. Recently started watching your videos and started to pre-poo. Love your hairdos. Would love to see some demonstrations.

😂😂😂 it took more than a few washes before I remembered to rinse, then shampoo.

Thank you! I use to do demonstrations, but now it’s more teaching with visuals. I may do a demonstration in the future on my wash day. ☺️

Love your videos...what is the name of the pre poo you recommended!!

What has helped me the most on my wash day is what you said to rinse pre poo the shampoo and conditioner. I would rinse all the conditioner out only to apply a little when I got out the shower… Umm not going to do that anymore moving forward I will leave some conditioner in my hair. Th aka again for such valuable information.

Instead of replacing your detangling brush often try cleaning it with barbicide. Its what the barbers and hairstylist use for their hair tools. You can clean your hair brush throughly then mist spray the barbicide on the brush bristles & let air dry. L'ange has some soft padded sectioning hair clips that I love & has protected my curls from snags and breakage like I got using the metal duck bill clips.

Can you do a video on preservatives? It seems like everything is a formaldehyde releaser or isn't broad-spectrum. I want to avoid the craziness and diy my own products but I don't wanna kill myself in the process 🥴

Section my hair, and wash it sectioned is a dogma. And when I have to do a avc or tea rinse, I do it at the same time as I conditioner.

What is your take on Lush's Revive hair cream? Is it a good product for dry 4C hair and worth the money?
