Scarves and durags both work for starter locs! I used a durag for the first year and it made ALL the difference!!! ☮️

This was an on time message. I was getting so disappointed with my starter locs. September will be 2 years and I still have a lot of frizz. I had a aha moment when you mentioned the unraveling and was thinking the locs not working for me. Seeing this video has changed my outlook. Thank you so much for this video. Perfect timing! I just started my 4th set of locs in 20 years today, and am so excited to watch the process! I did comb coils this time (without the comb, lol.) Shout out for that headscratcher thing you created. I have moved from the East Coast to the West Coast, and left mine behind, so will be reordering that, because the itching can indeed be real, and that little gadget did the trick!

I agree with everything except the itching. This is my 4th set of locs. I went a year without oil, and my scalp didn’t itch. I’d say, no oil and your scalp won’t itch

I’m a 1yr and 5 months in and yes the itch may happen but if you’re taking care of your hair and yourself the itch will not be a problem.

I started my 2nd set of locs the beginning of this month (June) but the differences are, one this time I started them myself and two they’re mini/small (not micro) vs pencil width and I wanted to know when should I do my first initial wash and then the months to follow thereafter?
