Great video. I had a reading of 3 cell in Betaflight when I had a 4 cell battery connected, and the all the voltage readings were off. This video got all that straightened out. Thanks for thinking to make a video out of this. I've had the cell count of before and didn't know how to fix it. Your explanation made it easy to understand.

I've been fighting this problem since flashing to the latest BetaFlight. Was driving me crazy having to plug my battery in 4+ times till it got right. My buzzer is also configured to beep for low battery so it was annoying. You solved my problem so good thing I stumbled across this vid.

Omg I was showing 0volts and 2.5 volts and it was flashing. And stumbled on your video after hours of searching. Mine 1s was set to 4.2 and it was reading as a 2s in Betaflight. I made the switch and my osd looks perfect. Thank you so much for making this video

Very useful. I've learned that calibrating the voltage scale is one of the things that need to be done on almost any quad.
@CurryKitten7 жыл бұрын
Y'know, I think I've only ever done this on one other quad. Mainly because the voltage is generally about right on most of them. I only notice when it's way off - but I'll certainly pay more attention from now on

Thanks for this, this was driving me potty last night, kept getting low voltage beeper, and could see it was misreading 2S as 3S, but couldn't work out the fix, and remembered seeing this ages ago, so dug it out and fixed !

Me to. The worse thing was with this, when I'd remember to have a look at it at home, I'd plug in a lipo that was in storage charge and so it would come up correctly, and then magically be wrong when I charge them and try in the field :D

Thanks for posting this! I had a similar problem on the Diatone GT M2. It seems to have fixed the issue mostly, but at times it thinks its a 4 cell and wont arm. At least that's why I think it wasn't arming. I'm still new to this.

Thought you had fixed an issue i was having for a moment! I've been getting the same or rather a simlar issue with bf (i think v3.2) and a Racerstar aio fc/esc. However i have the voltage correctly calibrated in bf and when I plug a battery in it recognises correct voltage and cell count and the osd reports correct total voltage and cell voltage however still continues to to give low battery warning! I have found that letting the board power up and go through it's beeps then disconnect and reconnect the battery quickly before any residual power has dissipated fixes it! Tedious but works since I can't figure out where the problem lies lol Although it doesn't matter now anyway! I toasted that board yesterday LMAO

Oh My Goodness i found this video, since I'm struggled with this same issue, Very usefull. Also i have an another doubt, since my battery(4s) voltage is now in 9.$v, How can i again charge it safely to the correct voltage? please suggest or post video for that.
@CurryKitten3 жыл бұрын
The right answer is that the battery chemistry has gone too far and the lipo is past saving - replace it. However, you can bring those cells back - do so at your own risk/against manufacturers advice etc and you may need to use a nicad or NiMH setting on your charger. I won't describe it here, but do a search for "Restoring/Recharging Over-discharged LiPo" and you'll find plenty of guides. You should note though that if you can bring it back to the correct voltage, doesn't mean it's "fixed"

Hi, same problem here on my QX65 Micro, only 1 cell batts and flashing Voltage on OSD? I tried the scale adjustment and doesn't fix it, tricky one.... at times it says 1 cell and other times it says 2 cell (with a 1 cell 1S plugged in)... so that is the same problem as you had. Not sure what to do?
@CurryKitten6 жыл бұрын
Well, certainly it coming up as a 2s lipo would be a similar thing. In your case it would decide if it's a 2s battery by detecting that your battery level is greater than the max cell voltage. It could be that it's reading it wrongly. So for example you charge a lipo to 4.2v but the FC reads it as 4.3v and the max cell voltage in betaflight is 4.2v. It decides you must have a 2s lipo in with just 2.1v per cell. Sometimes a battery voltage reads high initially and then seems ok - so try raising up your max cell voltage slightly. 4.3v is usually enough, but have a look at what betaflight thinks your voltage actually is
@BrigzyFPV6 жыл бұрын
CurryKitten thanks, will try now, good ideas. Tricky!
@BrigzyFPV6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, that was the problem. My 1S Lipo was reading 4.3v when plugged in, my limit was 4.3v. So I put up to 4.4v and still a problem, 4.5v fixed it, it now says 1 cell not 2 cell when plugged in so I am sure it won't flash anymore, very cool. Thx for that!!

Hey I think have the same problem but can't fix it..I have a BrainFPV Radix and can't see anything about battery either in Betaflight when I plug in with usb! My voltage shows Zero and flickering in OSD..and also my rssi flickering!
@CurryKitten5 жыл бұрын
That's a nice looking flight controller, with perhaps the best documentation I've ever seen. A 0v doesn't really indicate this problem - this is more about the fact that it's not seeing any voltage from the battery at all. Are you using the Radio ESC, or Powerboard, or something else. Do you have you voltage/ground connected to voltage sensor/ground on the FC ?

Hi Guys!, I have a QX65, and when I plug the battery it still says 0 volt (and disconnected), I'm missing some config here? I'm pretty new with betaflight... Thanks!
@CurryKitten6 жыл бұрын
Normally things will come setup correctly. I presume you are in the Betaflight power and battery tab and you are plugging in there and seeing nothing. In the battery section, does it say Onboard ADC for the Voltage Meter Source (which is the case for 99.9% of quads out there) if it is and there's nothing it might be the case that the vbat pin is not connected to the power on the flight controller (or has come off) but it's pulling in 5v to run the board from elsewhere

i have an issue similar to this on OSD. it seems theres alot of static and the OSD doesnt show up quite well. any solution to that?
@CurryKitten6 жыл бұрын
Is it the OSD in your goggles, or DVR recording ? OSD flickering when flying (normally at higher throttle) is something is usually a grounding issue - make sure the grounds for your video in/oout and camera ground do all share the same ground. If it's fine in the goggles but the OSD seems to dissapear on the DVR recording then it's sometimes down to the OSD not working well with PAL or NTSC (i.e whatever it's using, try a camera that uses the other standard)
@glennlow19806 жыл бұрын
im currently running both of these boards FC - DYS PRO F4 v2, ESC - RacerStar. cant really get a firm writeup on how the grounding for the OSD to work. any idea where can i source them ? appreciate if you could help. thanks Curry!
@CurryKitten6 жыл бұрын
Have a look at this great video from the late project Blue Falcon kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5WwZpWwbdifmNE who explains the idea of using a common ground very well. Have a look to see if you have similar symptoms as a similar fix might sort it. It can be a bit of a weird one, as in a single battery situation, you expect all grounds to be common, and in most cases you don't have to jump through hoops to make it work... but it seems there's some combinations of equipment that will cause issues and mean you have to do a bit extra to resolve them. If this doesn't do it, or you issue is slightly different, if you could grab a video to show what you experiencing along with how everything is wired, then that would help in figuring out the issue.

Would generally mean that you haven't connected up to your power to the vbat connection. Flight controllers can all do things a bit differently, so check your pin outs

I have flashing zero's for both lipo voltage and average cell, I'm hoping this is the issue.
@CurryKitten4 жыл бұрын
I doubt it, getting a zero on these usually means that it's not reading your input voltage. Some FC's take their power in from the main lipo and it will pickup the voltage reading here, other ones run on a 5v input and have a specific vbat pin you'll need to hook up to your battery just to read the voltage.

I have a question for anybody out there that can answer this. I have a tranis qx7. And a XM Plus with a SP racing F3 flight control. My question is how do I get RSSI on my qx7? I am new to this and I've been trying to get RSSI on my qx7 or OSB and everything I have tried I have no success.
@CurryKitten7 жыл бұрын
The XM+ always comes shipped with the default firmware which is just sbus channels 1-16. To get RSSI on it, you'll need to flash it with the alternative firmware which will put the RSSI signal on Ch 16 or ch 8 (I use the 16 version) to do this, take a look at this video I made kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX-yk4Npqs2Ul9E which also has a link back to an earlier video about where to get the firmware from. Once flashed you just need to change the RSSI channel in the receiver tab in betaflight.
@red42066 жыл бұрын
CurryKitten okay I got everything downloaded everything that I think is right and betaflight on the RSSI Channel it only goes to 14 aux. My RSSI is showing up on Channel 12 I cannot go to aux16 where did I mess up?
@CurryKitten6 жыл бұрын
You didn't. aux2 is different to channel 12. You'll notice that the first 4 channels are reserved for your sticks, so aux1 is channel 5, and so on. So aux12 = channel16
