Mr Sorin, I’m a computer technician from Singapore. I’ve been working on desktops since 1997 and only started working on laptops around the 2010’s. I’m amazed by your technical knowledge and expertise on technical level 5 component-level troubleshooting and repair, something I no longer have the chance to be able to acquire. Many years ago, I sustained an injury to my wrist and it never healed. It took 20 years to discover what had happened and I’m resigned to the fact I can never do soldering and use a soldering iron on component level work as my hand is unable to stay stable. I’m resigned to the fact that I will only be a Level 3 computer technician. With that said, Mr Sorin, I can probably answer the part about a bigger company not being able to correctly diagnose the issue. Bigger repair companies have a lot of jobs to stay in business and they will always do the fastest way to get the job done. We live in a throw-away world where planned obsolescence is the name of the game. If they don’t do this, factories that make new products will start to close down as people are holding on to the ‘old’ products. They expect everyone to get brand new products after the end of warranties. That’s why out-of-warranty repairs are so expensive. The bigger repair companies are doing the same thing by charging people just to replace parts with spares from the factories without going down to component level troubleshooting like you do. The ‘failed’ part is sent back to the manufacturer to be refurbished or disposed off if they are discontinued. We are a breed of computer technicians that keep ‘older’ but still serviceable systems running for as long as they can and delaying them from going to the trash. We are starting to go away like the dinosaurs with the latest Microsoft Windows 11 OS launch that has effectively made 7th Gen Intel and older systems obsolete.

Hello sir , Is it possible to dissassemble paper /slim LED panel in laptop safely without breaking the LCD and then put it back together . . Please give your valuable suggestion and there is a reason why I am doing it. . Thanku
@generationscomputersystems
@generationscomputersystems 2 жыл бұрын
@@naveenk6387 Usually, these components are part of the panel from the factory. Unless you have the exact tooling and materials from the manufacturer with a dedicated clean room, it's not possible to do this level of repair/rebuild for any technician to do successfully and cheaply compared to the cost of getting the finished panel direct from the factory. The damaged display panels are usually sent to the recyclers so that they can be broken down to their raw materials for manufacturing new products. At least that what should be done.

@@generationscomputersystems Ok the reason for me doing it is , I am a programmer by prof and I spend many hours infront of screen . . I was disassembling a spare monitor and found it had different layers behind LCD , there is a specific prism film (BEF sheets ) removing it I found it very useful and strain was significantly lower . .This was a personal real experience and I want to mimic on laptop screen as well So are there ways to achieve this on laptop. . is it possible to buy custom screen( without prism sheet) or disassemble the screen just to remove the sheet or any other suggestion is welcome . . thanku

Used to work for PC world many years back and at the time the techguys now know how or what ever they changed the name to had no clue how to fix anything, they usually just stumbled around in the dark and anciently found an issue , but always they would never to a simple board level component replacement it would always be a full replacement that was often prohibitively expensive, the whole model is why replace a component that costs 50p when you can tell the customer its going to be several hundred to replace the whole motherboard, or the golden gem ... Oh it is utterly broken ( holds back laughing ) and cant be fixed (man my commission this month is gona be great )... now let me show you our new range of laptops oh and do not forget you will need new bag / internet security and insurance

Sorin, I can't believe that you didn't take a minute to clean out that clogged fan. There is no happier customer than one that gets back a working computer and also a faster computer. Not to mention a quieter computer when the fan isn't spinning so fast trying to move air through a plugged fan. If you had a little hand vac it would only take 5 seconds to suck out the dirt.

In my experience Curry's PC World are just retailers. They could be selling cans of drinks and packets of crisps or electronics with the level of expertise shown by staff in general, because the staff with whom I have interacted have no indepth knowledge of the products that they sell and don't appear to care what they re selling. Their ability to repair computers and peripherals appears to be limited to"switch it off and on again" followed by replacement under warranty. If the kit is out of warranty then there's no point in taking it back to the shop because a) they don't want to fix it and b) even if they wanted to fix it they don't know how and c) IF they decide to make a non-warranty repair available the my understanding is that the item will be sent to a third party repairer and their fee will be marked up and charged to the customer. It therefore saves time and money to go direct to the repairer, which leaves CPCW free to keep making money retailing without having to bother about pesky customers with pesky malfunctioning tech.

Hey, Sorin! I've been a huge fan for years now. Started following you when trying to repair my power problem on an Acer Nitro Black Edition... failed miserably. It's still laying in my closet somewhere. I do have an interesting one that I cannot figure out. I have a Surface Book 2. This has two mainboards and two batteries - one in the keyboard which hosts a Nvidia video card and charges the "tablet" when connected. Then - of course - the mainboard and battery in the tablet. I can charge the tablet when directly connected to the charger, but it will not charge when connected to the keyboard. The keyboard does not work at all and seems to kill the tablet or drain it swiftly when connected. What is unique is this system runs on a 15v power rail, but I cannot follow it on the mainboard in the keyboard - it is VERY confusing. Do you have any information I can use when troubleshooting this one, or have one handy that you can show us? This wasn't a cheap machine and it breaks my heart seeing it rendered useless. If anything, know any reputable shops in the Eastern U.S. that might be able to fix it without just trying to sell me a new mainboard, keyboard, or whole new computer? If nothing, that's fine. I know it's hard to help everyone. Everything you do is always appreciated!

hey, been electronic specialist since 2009, I find your channel very good for component error finding. So thank you for great content, solid content! I just have one question. How come you dont you solder in a new capacitor? Presumably it had a function, and the one next to it will be extra stressed now that its running solo (probably just a noise reducing cap) but just removing it seems weird, although it fixed the immediate issue, how long until the one next to collapse?' Regards

Because there are two on the same rail. The other one can smooth the voltage just fine.

Did you replace the cap or just leave it off? If you left it off, won't that cause issues?
