As a child of the 90’s Saturday night, House Party were a big part of that, I found Mr Blooby a comical character, yes he’d sort of throw his arms up in the air and send the person next to him flying but you’d just laugh thinking it was part of the act, it was part of the 90’s it is what it was at the time

One of the biggest talents ever to emerge in the UK and he kept that going for literally decades. One of the best we have ever seen. All of the bashers in this video never achieved anything close to Noel. A lot of sour grapes being aired here. Particularly the talentless Mike Smith who would never have been on TV to begin with if not for Noel.
@jacklawrence2212

You're being a bit unfair. Mike Smith didn't rubbish Noel Edmonds here, whatever you might think of his career. Get some perspective. And Noel Edmonds is one of the 'biggest talents ever to emerge in the UK' ? Give me a break, please... An average broadcaster, at best, in an era where standards and the talent pool were significantly shallower.

Yes , radio one DJs being the typical. “Stars “ we had and most of them believed it . When all we had for entertainment was the typical BBC “ Stsrs” it wasn’t much of a high bar . Edmonds just seemed to be everywhere because maybe he was safe and easy listening and made jokes about vicars . As a kid we had Swap Shop and knew no better until ITV made Tiswas and showed how dull he was . The kind who thought He was humiurous but wasn’t . Most of the third rate tv and radio celebs here are the level of “ talent” we had . Apart from Gervais they’re all so Duuuullll !

The whole tone of this doc. is mean spirited and almost....jealous? I always found Edmonds a bit fake and slimy, and that "deal or no deal" in particular, where he used to get contestants to bring photos of their dead grannies, and try to wring tears out of them before opening the stupid boxes - was disgraceful. That being said, I feel more kindly towards him after watching this

He was smug, arrogant and untalented. Because Kenny Everett made a cheeky joke about the Minister of Transport's wife passing here test and got sacked, The BBC gave the job to Edmonds. From then on, he was never off the screen. From that Blobby thing to Swap shop, you couldn't avoid him. A man died during one of those ridiculous stunts and it all ended for him. Of course it didn't help that he told reporters that everyone should stop paying their licence fee. To top it all, he said he liked Savile and he didn't think he would do the things that came to light. He lied because EVERYONE at the BBC and beyond knew about Savile and were warned not to say anything or they'd be out. I miss him like I'd miss cholera.

I agree with legacy of pop. What a nasty, cheap, snide programme. Noel Edmonds was a quite brilliant broadcaster. Yes he could be a bit corny but what his critics tend to ignore is his enormous popularity. On Radio One in the 70s he was hugely original and very funny. He was like a more acceptable version of the great genius of radio Kenny Everett. But it was on TV he found his real forte. Live TV was and is very hard to do. But he was quite brilliant at it. The House Party was all done with just cue cards and no autocues. He had no earpiece. But he ran that show for nearly an hour every week and up to 16 million watched it. Bill Cotton, the head of BBCTV told him his was the most important show on TV.

I'm quite livid about this video. Most of the people offering thier opinion on this video were not fit to stand next to him. Noel was and is well loved by very many people. I miss seeing him on telly... He is such a far superior personality to all of them. I believe that Noels' Christmas shows were done with genuine intentions... so crass of anyone who implied otherwise. I met him once at a club at Longleat... He was fantastic to me and a great laugh...we sat and had a chat after the show...He was a very genuine and lovely guy. I don't understand why people have jumped on this stupid and destructive bandwagon...and the likes of Jim Reeves and Bob Mortimer rode on his coat tails.. inventing a mickey taking strand on him to further thier own careers. I really don't care for that kind of stuff...they deserve to have some young bucks do it to them.... see how they like having thier future destroyed by a couple of unknown idiots. Noel is a genuine man and deserves to be respected so much more for the brilliant stuff he did.

Well said! A few bad eggs have stained the charterers of so many innocent popular TV personalities! People are media vampires, they suck up everything that people like Noel gift the world, then have to go cold turkey when their heroes are no longer feeding them, love turns to disappointment, to resentment and ultimately to hate! Perfect example; I have it on extremely good authority, that when Rod Hull met his untimely end, Emu was having having lunch with a young Keith Harris across town! But where is Emu now? He's never been seen in public again! While the role went to a Green duck wearing a nappy! I HATE THAT DUCK! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm pretty sure this was very much a satire documentry. As in the facts are true, but they also edit it to be a scandle piece while also putting the stereotipical beats in, but editing those bits in such a way to let the watcher in on the joke. Eg introducing someone as a "straight talking TV critic". or having the person say that he got extremely angry and it was too bad for TV and the tapes were lost only to say that they brought them online and he was laughing along mildly. It had a very Brass Eye feel to it or other popular mock documentries at the time. It even paid tribute to his work with gotta ya lines and bits and especially for the whole piece leading up to a super hit piece at the end only for it to hit you with, now hes fighting for animal rights and, opposite to many people with carrers dying and them going into drugs and drinkings, hes living a peacful retirement. The whole thing is just screaming satire, good old deadpan humour and paying tribute to a branch of comedy he infulenced.

The gotcha with DLT was great... I heard it live on the radio at the time and couldn't believe how bad the teams were and how tolerant DLT was up until the point of the Gotcha. He had that "Human touch" by that, he could relate to people from all walks of life. He was the perfect "Host" for "Deal or No Deal" What have we got today? Naff tv presenters, with no appeal at all. Take Harry Hill for example, and I am sick to the back teeth of Mr Walsh, who seems to be on everything these days. Edmonds said in 2008 that he is constantly accompanied by two melon-sized "spiritual energy" balls, which appear over his shoulders and which he believes to be the spirits of his dead parents. "Orbs are little bundles of positive energy and they think they can move between 500 and 1,000 miles per hour," according to Edmonds. "They look like little round planets but they come in all shapes and sizes." He has asserted that the orbs appear only on digital photographs.

.....then had the audacity to go on a Wogan show, feign the "deeply expressed" sorrow and within a few minutes, the subject switches to him making a comeback. Totally crass scumbag. Coogan, Iannuci & co may well deny it, but a lot of Alan Partridge's character has definitely been influenced by this narcissistic self absorbed clown. John Peel once worked on the LLBS as a reporter for those irresponsible stunts and the Santa Pod event with the car jump convinced Peel that his time was up. One car missed where it was planned to land & ended up feet away from JP. His wife Sheila was worried sick, meanwhile Edmonds is making light about the incident live on television. Next time you have a mass of red tape to deal with regarding getting insurance for doing something which involves excessive health and safety measures, remember it was Noel's idiots who helped indirectly to reinforce and establish that "Health and Safety Gone Mad" culture after the Michael Lush incident.

No, he didn't. He was just the presenter and he resigned immediately when it happened. The production team messed up badly, using unsuitable equipment, ignoring safety advice, failing to have adequate safety measures in place and trying to pull off in days with a member of the public a stunt that would have taken weeks of rehearsals for a professional stuntman.
