The stew commercial has the tension, and energy, of a family who's highly abusive father has just come home from work. They are all walking on eggshells. The wife forgot to make dinner, due to being overwhelmed, and heated up some canned stew, and is nervously hoping he doesn't notice. His weird vibes forcing his family to guess if he honestly likes it, or knows, and shit is about to the fan, once he has gotten suficiantly mad about being lied too.

“Why are they so mean?” 9:50 just feels like the ambient experience of being a kid in the late 90’s/early oughts. Even in the current irony poisoned culture I still feel like we haven’t quite swung back around to the same levels of “just be fucking mean to everyone for no real reason” as was considered basically normal then, esp for kids/teens

I was helping my grandma clean out her attic. We found a big trunk up there and opened it and in it were some old roller skates, like the only metal ones, and a melted deformed baby secrets. When i tried to take pics of her, both my front and back cameras stopped working on my phone until i got out of the attic. I took her home and I leave it in my bed sometimes next to my super cuddly boyfriend. Shes one of many creepy dolls i own. I adore them. My favorite thing baby secrets says is "i like to whisper... The six finger gun is from a point in time when spy toys were really popular! There was a lot of books about kid detectives and spys as well as popular radio shows at the time. there's a whole bunch of weird little toys like this, the reason it has so many random things it does is because it's meant to be a spy gadget type thing. there's been several emergences of spy toy popularity since as well. it's honestly a pretty neat trend to follow for toy and childrens media history!

Oh my God my mom had that whispering doll as a kid. One year for Christmas my grandparents surprised her by restoring her doll to working order and cleaning her up. Which was incredibly sweet and my mom was really really happy. Unfortunately I thought the doll was terrifying and there’s a photo in our family album of my mom trying to show me her favorite childhood doll and I’m looking at it like it’s a giant spider that’s going to eat me. One thing the commercial doesn’t convey is that you can hear the little voicebox motor when she talks and it’s really loud and you can’t really tell what she’s saying.
