30th May, a month after my greatest heartbreak, I was suddenly reminded of this song today. Came to revisit the scene on KZbin today. I was chasing my Robin, obsessed, trying to force destiny, but I have to accept that I cannot make someone love me, I have accept that they do not love me the way I love them. I have to accept it no matter how painful it is. However, I feel I was meant to see this today. I have been a Ted Mosby all my life. Chased love, given my all, accepted the bare minimum and called it love. I am in the Season 8 of my life, and I look around and see myself all alone. But this gives me hope. For weeks I felt like the girl I had broken up with was the one I was supposed to be with for the rest of my life and I tried getting her back multiple times and couldn’t stop thinking about her and getting upset all the time. Those couple weeks felt like an entire lifetime and it was so hard to do anything that felt normal. One day I turned on how I met your mother and this was the next episode up in queue and after I saw this scene I realized that the girl I was with for so long, the one who I’d given everything to, just wasn’t it. I thought about it for days and then realized that I never felt that way when I was with her. I don’t know what the feeling truly feels like but I just know deep down it wasn’t it. Now I’ve truly started to move on and I’m getting my life back again one piece at a time. Update: thank you everyone for the likes and the comments. Damn, I was lately on my all-time low due to a hard first relationship mix-up. I had so mixed feelings that I thought about that girl and my feelings towards her all the time... and yet, after all the rewatches, this show keeps giving me the hope and wisdom that I need at times. "If you have to think about it, you have not felt it", I guess that it wasn't that real after all and it was mostly my loneliness that did the talking.
