Thank you for the review Curtis! I would love to see a 4K DCI version, even double money would be worth it. My current Cine 18 is over 5.5K.

I have the Osee 15 Megamon. I lovvvve its colors (I just don't like the menu system). I wouldn't mind going up to a 22inch. Because my Osee 15 only has 1 HDMI, I bought an Osee stream Duo to link my cameras depending on the shoot. I used your free tutorial on the Osee Duo and learned so much from it that I just added "Streaming Services" to my corporate customers who kept asking for it. That's a big deal and an extra source of income!!! I can't thank you enough!

Good to see a compatibility with a calibrator. Honestly disappointing to see that it's not a standart feature in all field monitors and GPUs

Hi and thanks for this review I bought a "cheap" 24" monitor from a chinese brand (maybe feelworld or sth similar) and it was horrendous! the contrast was poir sharpness was poor viewing angle terrible and the lut input was horrible.... I think that I paid the same price as this one then I switched to the Sumo from Atomos and what an amazing monitor ! the 19" is great but the price was closer to 2000$ what would you choose between the two ? the Sumo also can turn into a recorder if needed
@TeddyRumble
@TeddyRumble 2 ай бұрын
Atomos has a good reputation. To be honest, I don't have the money for this, I do use the camera's monitor for all of these functions, but I don't make many projects that would call for a good monitor. I did just do sound for a narrative film and they had the Sumo, and it was a pleasure having a big monitor.

If you bought the feelworld that monitor was trash but I have the Osee 21.5 and that has definitely surpassed expectations. I think with this new monitor they updated the firmware and it looks 10 times from what I see. The build and body is pretty much the same between mine and the new one but this more comparable to a small hd in terms of buttons. I want to try the new firmware out because it was lacking in getting focus and exposure in the older version. Plus don’t buy there 80 dollar cheeseplate I bought one for 20 from adorama

The OSEE Mega 22S is lighter and does NOT have touch screen controls like the Sumo. The OSEE panel is slightly larger at 21.5", higher nit output (1500 vs 1000), sun hood snaps quickly in place. I don't remember, but the Sumo might support higher frame rates at 4K and UHD. The OSEE doesn't have the two noisy fans that the Sumo has. Overall, I was given both, but if I could only keep one, I'd keep the OSEE. That's not to say that the Sumo isn't a better fit for others, but for me, the OSEE's feature set is a better fit.

There is also 15 inch Osee 15s (upgrade to their megamon 15). Not sure about the price yet. Both seems interesting options for studio. I wish they are 2000 nits though.

Hi Curtis and thanks for another great video. I'm curious if the display panel can show real 50p or if there is a conversion to 60p (which is often a problem with cheaper screens)

An important note about compatibility of probes for calibration of OSEE monitors. I have the LCM215-HDR+ and their proprietary USB-cable but was surprised that calibration does not work with the Xrite i1 Display (which has been one of the most common probes for sale during a long time) until Calibrite did renaming. Also on the OSEE website it does say that the calibration software works with the following probes: X-rite i1/Color Checker Display/Display Plus probe. If this is the case then their listing of Xrite i1 probes should be removed since its not compatible (last revision was made: Windows Osee Calibrator 1.4.5 (20230707) Just a heads up for those that want to calibrate your monitor so that you dont spend money on something that will not work.

@@curtisjudd Have we got confirmation on what definitely works? I have the i1 Display Pro with USB-A connector on it. However, I see from your equipment list, you appear to have used a "Calibrite Display Pro HL (powered by X-Rite)"? Or did you use the original i1 Display Pro? I would really like to know what definitely works as it would be annoying to have to buy yet another expensive calibration tool when I already have the i1 Display Pro? Would greatly appreciate any help with this! Thanks in advance.

@@georgefeatherby5264 I have the version with a USB-A connector and used a USB-A to C adapter and it worked. I suspect there have been several versions over the years (I bought mine in about 2015). I also have a version specifically for my Flanders Scientific and it did NOT work with the OSEE monitor. Others have reported that the one I linked works.

Would that be suitable as a reference monitor in a home editing workstation instead of something like an Eizo or NEC? How does the color accuracy compare to pro desktop monitors that cost 2-3x more?
@curtisjudd
@curtisjudd Ай бұрын
It depends. A good OLED might still be preferable but the colors appear to translate well when I use it for color grading. The blacks aren’t quite as inky dark as an OLED panel.

@@curtisjudd Not sure, really. Is an HDMI port that expensive? I know that consumer level vs professional level the licensing and pricing is pretty steep, just like paying for a license to use H.265 or some codecs on Sony reference monitor as far as I know.
