Your rig must have picked up the same bug that kept you in bed, cuz it is SICK! Nice work, it looks fantastic!

Haha love this. Much appreciated. I still love how it turned out.

Sweet rig man I'm on a 6" lift (thinking about dropping 2 inches)and 35" patagonias kmc grenade crawl wheels, trussed Jk axles with chromos (RCVs in front), NP 242 tcase with slip yoke eliminator, Eaton electric lockers front and rear.

Sounds like a sweet build. My axles will be going as well. Don’t plan to stick any money into them knowing I have bigger plans.

Could you post what shocks and lengths you are running? Has the trimming worked out well for the 35s?
@engineeringoverland Жыл бұрын
I've had this question a few times actually, but I will need to take some measurements. They are trail tamer shocks. And so far the trimming has definitely been pretty effective. No issues with excessive rubbing or loss of performance. Couple spots I could do a little bit more, but hasn't been a real issue and I'm also on factory bump stops so the 35s have unlimited up travel.

Do the center caps too!

That was a consideration! Maybe some day I’ll go back for this.

Paint tip: Use Vaseline on the tire next time and then it just wipes off when done painting.

Side tip: It makes the tire shine!

Thanks for the tip! I actually was trying to remember what was used for doing that method but for the life of me couldn’t remember. Rather than wasting time to remember, I just started taping.

@Engineering Overland I have a 02 WJ Overland I am building and it's the same color WJ. I may try this on my new simulated beadlocks I just bought!! It definitely looks great!
@engineeringoverland Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Do it! Taping off the edges was honestly one of the quicker parts so Vaseline may or may not save time. The “bolts” are definitely the worst.
@jtbuilds9176 Жыл бұрын
@Engineering Overland Those little simulated bolts usually come out if you hold your tongue just right. I definitely am pulling mine out as they are chrome. I have seen a few threaded but most are just push in style. My wheels are bronze though and they definitely go good with the color of the jeep which is why I got mine in bronze. You are making me regret the 4" long arm kit I bought and am now thinking I need more height as I do plan on running 35" tires.

Hello what is size of tires 35? Its 6 inch lift ? Also You have chromium axels or standard?
@engineeringoverland Жыл бұрын
Yes, tires are 35x12.5x17. 8 inches of lift. Standard axle shafts.
@krzysztofgniadek877 Жыл бұрын
Standard axles dont bend or crack twist ?
@engineeringoverland Жыл бұрын
If you're a careless driver, yes they can break. Lockers will also increase those chances. I have not had a problem.

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the beadlock rings than to mask the wheels, tires, and bolts? Sure, you'd have to reinflate, but it also makes sure they are still torqued down, as they should be, when you put them back on. Edit: I see you think the same thing after seeing the masking segment.
@engineeringoverland Жыл бұрын
I think you missed the point… I made sure to point out that these are NOT real beadlocks. These are a 1 piece cast wheel with a simulated beadlock style. Those are not real bolts and the ring is not even a separate piece. This was the only option. Also, later on I was simply stating that for anyone else that also does not have real removable rock rings, I wouldn’t recommend the trouble of painting them given the amount of prep time required.
