The thing about ArtRage inverting your brush alpha is actually backwards. In an alpha mask, black is transparent and white is opaque. Photoshop is doing it the other way around: where the brush alpha is black, it's opaque, and where it's white, it's transparent. ArtRage is following the normal convention of white being opaque, so in reality, ArtRage is not inverting the brush alpha - Photoshop is.

I hope Artrage 5 has a decent line tool. All 4 had is hold ctrl + click and make a straight line. I want a curved line tool, with options for tapering and 'profiles' like Adobe Illustrator has. Otherwise in Artrage 4 all you can do for inking is do it manually.

I've used ArtRage since version 1 (2005), have vs 4 now. I love it, it's a very simple interface and the price is great at the mo - ArtRage 4 is on sale: www.artrage.com/product/artrage-4/. And no, I don't work for them :D

Thanks for the review Borodante! What brand of glove are you using? The different brands I have tried, for me, have not worked that well. I have cut out the fingers from some Home Depot brown cotton utility gloves and that works sort of okay...

Y'know, I just have to say that I feel as though I am the one responsible for you getting this beta from ArtRage. I shared your video of testing ArtRage 4 on the ArtRage Facebook page back on November 14th and my share was almost immediately "liked" by ArtRage. Then on Nov 16th, they retweeted your video on their Twitter account (Of course, you testing the software might have had something to do with it!). So I guess I'll enter the contest for v. 5, even though the upgrade won't be too expensive and I wish ArtRage had offered *me* a beta to play with (I'll take *that* up with *them*). Oh well, you have an audience who'll get to see you make art. Alright I'm done whining. Looking forward to seeing more of you and ArtRage 5 on your channel. Thanks for your videos!

You should check out Paintstorm. www.paintstormstudio.com/ It's a GPU accelerated paint program, so it may not run exceptionally well on a Companion 2, but on my desktop with a good video card it's really smooth, and the brush tools and options are pretty great.

I have Artrage on the PC and as an app. I've done very little with them. I will watch more of your videos on Artrage 5, but I'm guessing it won't be as good as the iPad Procreate app. Using that on a 12.9 in iPad Pro- with the Apple Pencil is a dream. It feels like art. I've sold my Cintiq, and I'm sold on Procreate and the iPad. I love the feel. It feels like art. I don't really like Photoshop, and I don't like their subscription model. The guys at Procreate are great! If you want to see a professional using both- see Nikko's work at artstudyonline.com. I like watching your videos Borodante. Maybe you can try the set-up I mentioned.
