I've wanted to build something useful for the shop and saw that a farmer did this with an old tank that became obsolete. So I had to have my own. I built a large blast cabinet from this old oil tank that simply sat unused for years. I don't have to settle for a tiny Harbor Freight cab, or buy a much more expensive pre-made cab. Follow along to see how it turned out!

I've been waiting for this video and I was really excited to see that oil tank be re-purposed and into what I'd consider, the perfect size of a blast cabinet. The fit and finish of the door and window are superb! VERY nice work Adam! That cyclone bucket is a fantastic idea to not tear up the shop vac. That's was one thing that I wanted to change on my cheesy Harbor Freight cabinet. Your lighting is fantastic and painting the inside white with the protective back, excellent idea. Many things I now want to do as upgrades to the HF one I've been working with. Definitely saving this video for future use as I'd love to build a bigger cabinet. Fantastic job Adam, and your video and editing were superb, as always!

I had to use plywood but built the door, hose & gun holder the same way. Suggestion; Find landscape LED up lighting 3-4" pods on SS gimbal mounts, wire them together or switch each one but landscape comp., garage sales, or used online are bright. Two left and two right, being adjustable, move to illuminate darker spots. I added a "U-Shape" air inlet for my 5 gallon bucket cyclone / vacuum on other end and quickly evacuates dust. I run to a 12Vdc battery out of motorcycle & trickle charger with simple switch. Find an adjustable chair to make it easy on lumbar to view thru window and made sure a foot bar is located to place one or both feet up. Again, strain on lumbar. Big door seal, grab a rear window seal from 2-part Tahoe glass, pinch vulcanized metal together then slip over flat stock to create seal. Adam, great to see you back, getting settled in and a sandblast cabinet is a well used tool. More light is better as magnetic based spot lights from Harbor Freight 750 Lumens, rechargeable but $30 each. I have two and my wife wants one. Charges on USB 2.0 Have fun!

So the old heating fuel residue is not flammable/ explosive ? It looks great !
@HoosierGarage
@HoosierGarage Жыл бұрын
It takes a bit of work to get it to light. The residue dries good, and i cleaned it out with soapy water. I used the sawzall at first to minimize sparks, then the cutting wheel after it aired out and dried.

So question I'm doing a large blasting cabinet and large oven that are home made, I'm making them out of 275gal fuel tanks just as u did. I'm glad I found yours. It's flipping amazing, brother. u did an outstanding job. The oven is going to be gas because it's 100% heat and heats faster. Now, do u see a problem with using gas ovens, and is there more money made in larger items. Just a quick pro con if u could. Thanks for the channel it's came in very helpful.
