The most succinct video on this I’ve come across so far. Everyone else just loves to talk. Thank you!

Thanks so much!! This is one of the reasons I started my channel in the first place. I was sick of people talking about coffee, their lives and random stuff instead of what I clicked for in the first place. I try to keep all my tutorials short and sweet, nothing more and nothing less! Thanks for watching 😁👍

👍 Congratulations, Mike. I believe you are the only YT channel that showed the Sony Quick Navi menu (at about 0:54) in vid. Few realize that the monitor “For Viewfinder” display is far from static info when activated via the Fn button. Even some Sony reps channels have skipped mention of this feature - that goes back to at least the A6000.
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Paul!! I really find the quick navi menu a great tool. I even have it set to auto switch between the two as I have gotten used to not moving my hand in front of the sensor so much (apart from when I film these videos with the two camera setup). I might even do a quick video on it soon to highlight this feature. Thanks for watching Paul 😁👍

Thanks for your great video. Is there a way to backup all settings including custom buttons and copy this to your "second" A73 so I don't have spend extra time to setup again? Thank you again!
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
No worries, I hope it has helped! Unfortunately not. I wish they would do this as it would be really great to just set everything up just once. I sometimes hire extra camera bodies on big shoots or sports events where I'll be hammering the shutter and it would be great to just to be able to insert an SD card and have all the settings ready to go. Maybe if enough of us put a request in to sony, they might do it in future firmware updates...🤔 Thanks for watching! 👍

What I’d REALLY like to be able to do is set some custom buttons differently in those memory modes! For instance, I’d like to use back button focus sometimes, but not the majority of the time. I don’t believe you are able to change those and have them switch back automatically when you leave the memory mode.
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
That’s a great point Dave. If they set it so every single setting was included in the memory modes, now that would be a fantastic option! It would be great to be able to change from back button focussing to normal focussing with just a quick turn of the dial...instead of finding it in the memory selecting it and then switching it off. 👍

thanks for the video. one quick question, is there a possibility to auto save changes ? lets says I am in M1, and want to change the ISO value, if I move to M2 and then go back to M1 the ISO value comes back to the original, and not to the change I did.
@mikesphotography4 жыл бұрын
No worries. That is one of my annoyances with these memory settings...it doesn't auto update them so when you switch back and forth but the conditions change, you have to resave them as you go...I wish they had an auto update option for these so it would save as you go. Maybe in a future camera. 👍

great tutorial, I am start loving my a7iii against my D7200. If I may ask, are those assigned settings on custom buttons are also saved on memory 1 & 2 or in M1 .. M4? Thanks again.
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Felix! You can save them in any of the memory locations, however, in M1-M4 they will be stored on your memory card and if you format it, they will be deleted from your memory card. So because of that, I just use 1 or 2...these are stored in camera. 👍

Mike. I noticed you were in aperture priority for your #2 memory (sports) What do you do to control the SS? I would of figured you'd be in auto ISO with a set min SS Thanks!
@mikesphotography5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean, Well spotted! I really like aperture priority for shooting sports as I control the aperture. I just always keep an eye on my shutterspeed and if it starts to drop too much I adjust my iso accordingly. This is just a habit from using dslrs for years and I should really start using the min SS iso setting more. As it’s such a fantastic function! Thanks for watching 😁👍

Thanks Mike for this informative video. Is there a way to save M1 to M4 onto a computer before formatting the SD card to restore them later back into the card?
@mikesphotography4 жыл бұрын
They are saved on your SD card at PRIVATE\SONY\SETTING\7M3N\CAMPRO04.DAT so in theory, if you saved this to your computer, every time you format it, you could then copy them back to this location...Might be worth giving that a go. I hope that helps. 👍

I was looking for answer to this problem. It's weird that Sony have as much as 4 of those setting options to save on card where I don't know nobody using it. Why they dont have more with option to save on the camera. Lets say two that you can get from the wheel and two more where you would have to go to settings to get. Thats a bit weird to me.

Awesome! Thanks Viktor!! One thing I missed was that with the M1-M4 memory slots, it saves it to your sd card. So like I do, just use 1&2, those slots are safe as it saves the info to your camera.

I have a situation with my A7iii firmware 3.10 When I set dial 1 and dial 2 with EXACTLY the same settings (movie mode, 1080p or 4K, focus wide, white balance auto, all manual and ISO Auto). Just for the info, it doesn't effect the issue I'm going to tell you about: The thing is; despite everything is the same, while it shows the current focus point and live ISO values when I halfway press the shutter button when on dial 2; it only shows the focus point but NOT the live ISO values when I'm on dial 1 (it keeps showing ISO AUTO). Anyone experienced this? Is this a bug with saving the settings to dial 1? I believe that NOT all the settings can be saved to dial 1, but can be saved on dial 2. To ensure the settings are exactly the same: I switched to dial 1 and saved all the settings to dial 2 and switched to dial 2 and the same settings not working on 1 worked on 2. It is a good feature to monitor your ISO value while shooting, but not possible when you save the settings to dial 1! Would anyone from Sony read here and reproduce this bug and fix it with a firmware update?
