Custom Monitor Stand with Integrated Sound Bar and Card Reader

I make a monitor stand to clean up my desktop and make it more functional and improve my posture! I used materials that where already on hand. It turned out very solid and balanced. The weight and support are offset to the front half of the stand. Maybe this inspires you to sort your desktop out better.....It's the best desk configuration that I've ever had! Hey you really should support your material out the back. You can see considerable wobble in the video. I saw a guy at work doing that and it gave way and started slinging around at 1300 rpm. We had to call ems and have a safety meeting. They bought us stands like jack stands that have a steady rest on top. You could weld one up

At our workplace we turned a spider with 4 bolts like a 4 jaw to sit on the rear end of the spindle, works a treat for long bits of bar

Honestly I feel pole/pipe clamps are in top 3 best tools ever made you can use any size of pole or pipe

You should really buy a mouse pad. The qck ones from steelseries are good and very durable.

USB 3 is super fast - I have an ugly card reader on my desk and can’t find anywhere good to put it 😛

Maybe I could just cut a hole in my desk and have the card reader sitting vertically, with the front flush with the desk surface.. I don’t have your level of skills though, so it might look terrible 😂

Just got a chance to see the video, been busy over here. I love the setup on the monitor, especially the speaker unit mounted to the stand. I moved mine up, on a store bought one an it helps. I can appreciate craftsmanship, love the mixture of wood and metal. Since I’m not a woodworker what was the wood type on the boards you used for the base? It looked really good before you finished it

Thanks James, I really like the metal and wood combined also. It's oak, I normally don't use stain but I wanted to match my desk. The match was really close and it just blends in. When I'm sitting at the desk the stand appears to be floating.

Now all you need to do is hide ALL of your wires. I mean ALL of them. I hate unsightly wires.
