Custom Victorinox Tinker SAK with SAKANA Scales by Prynn Works.

Urban Knife Guy puts together a custom Victorinox Tinker Swiss Army Knife with a set of Japanese-themed scales called SAKANA by Prynn Works from Penang, Malaysia.
The scales are 3D printed using two materials that have contrasting colours gold and black with magnets embedded inside.
SAKANA is derived from the Japanese Hiragana word for 'fish' sakana (さかな). Like fish that have scales on their bodies, Swiss Army Knives also have scales so it is a play on words for "SAK"ANA.
The material of each SAKANA scale was specifically chosen to be durable plastic construction to ensure its robustness. Its black with pearl gold accent design is able to withstand outdoor temperatures and has good chemical resistance against solvents, making them suitable for most rugged and urban environments.

Very cool, too bad they’re not plus scales with the extra tool slot already open. I love how that turned out with the Samurai lanyard bead. The pattern on the scales is really nice.

Nice result, Felix Immler (see his youtube channel) puts the sak in hot water for a few minutes to soften the scales before prying them off.

Love the theme the scales and hankie look great together but I don't think I would do this to a new SAK. I'm waaaay to utilitarian about things and if I wanted fancy scales, theres certainly enough in the Victorinox line right now that I'd just buy it like that instead of modding it for looks. The friction fit will never be the same. The quality of these things is so good that they stay on for years even when beat to hell, which I can respect. Also, theres a thing with those red scales and the cross logo that when you whip out a swiss army knife in public, people understand you're gonna do some Macguyver stuff and not stab them. My two cents but still, love the look.
