Customer states his Honda Civic is jerking on take off

That throttle body is electric. Do not spray fluid into it or move the plate by hand… turn the key to on position (don’t crank) and have a friend step on the gas. It will open the flap, use a screw driver with a rag on it and spray the rag.

Mine jerked and bucked just like that. Checked the hose on my 2015 Civic and it was ripped pretty badly. Got a new one from Napa and put it in and it accelerates smooth now and also has more power. Very helpful video.

Never oil an air filter that uses a MAF sensor, that oil will just contaminate the sensor, if you have a customer with a K&N or other oiled filter, be sure to counsel them on monthly cleaning of the MAF and let it dry completely before starting the engine or they risk a burnout. I understand that you typically drive around in Graph mode and you wanted to drive around to monitor O2 activity but during your test drive you need to swap around to other PIDs Bro & still limit your screen size to 3 for example, LTFT & STFT will also tell the story. You may be lean at idle due to the torn Bellows and good at cruise which points to a lean scenario, but a torn Bellows will twist with the engine torque and open up even more on acceleration showing lean at all times except maybe light acceleration and cruise, this is the give away of a vacuum leak following the engine torque. As you say it will eventually get its power back at cruise because the engine is not twisting that bellows so much and a minor vac leak is practically ignored at speed. Another test for the Bellows is to watch it go lean while brake torquing the engine in Drive but not so much in Reverse as the engine twisting the other way closes up the Bellows leak, problem found, it's not a general vacuum leak at all times in all directions, D & R. Before finding the problem I would have also been worried about the transmission slipping so I would have wanted to monitor trans input/output speed sensors if available to check for slipping clutch packs. Again changing your PIDs during a test drive. Let's assume the Bellows were broken in both directions, motor mounts come to my mind at this point, again a brake torque of the engine should show this problem based on how far the engine moves. Rear O2 fluctuation, Honda has Fuel Cut Mode on decel, you have a PID for that, no fuel so must go lean. Some vehicles simply have an internal software test for circuit integrity once in a while, some are cyclical, others are random, and others are based on certain requirements. If you test-drive it enough, you may see the pattern of a glitch?? I was happy to hear about the motor mounts, that is what I am thinking with the Bellows broken in both directions, typically only in one direction, the customer should be seeking maintenance when this problem is first noticed if they care about their ride. Time is money Bro, that was me who gave that comment, apologies. My mobile business has a different model than yours, you have a line of cars out front, and I do not keep my customer's cars, I work at their place and I don't need to see my work in this manner, I have a stack of parts, receipts, and daily planning with schematics and procedures, no worries. Thanks. I am the opposite. Ill do mobile for very minor services and repair. I hate doing mobile diagnostic and major repairs. I always forget a tool or something i need for testing lol. Its quite annoying. I don't know about you but I have never been fond of those k&n filters. Not so much that they are oiled, the original Nissan filters came like that, but that i rather just throw it away and put a new one. Those k&n filters are too expensive for throwing away. 4:10 here is your problem, that engine speed signal error is not ok and also is doing that "missfire" like due to fact that the ignition spark signal is not sent right on time. i'm not a mechanic but i have repaired few times my cars, maybe you will take a look at that, from my point is 100% the issue. 15:05 My car had the same thing when I first bought it and I didn't even notice it at first. I still replaced the hose and it didn't make any difference. There's no telling how long it was ripped like that on my car seeing how old it is and you couldn't even tell because the engine ran basically perfect.

I have same problem with my 2015 civic, took it to mechanic but nothing showed in the computer, so they dint fix it, after watching this video I ll check all the items that you fix on this car and hope fully I can fix my car too.

Ive had all these problems already. jerking for me was the hose it had a crack that stopped my jerking. and it can be bad spark plugs as well. With these civics these hoses break all the time, i buy 2 at a time 😂. also with fluids i use only honda fluids my engine oil i use mobile 1.

It’s the bs cvt trans. Mine does jerk at 30mph and 15 mph while decelerating. My car is one week old freaking 600 miles on it. 2024 civic sport hatchback

@@eldelapalma1338 I didn’t take it in yet. It’s mostly stopped now that I’m @1.2k. Must of been car learning or something. It still does jump to high revs when putting it in reverse or drive on a cold start though. It will go from 700 to 1.8k and bounce revs. I just keep my foot on the brake pedal until it stabilizes.

Bro, this is about transmission. What can you try to do is change transmission fluid to original Honda CVT-F or Honda HMMF(same stuff for different markets). After change check the level of the fluid on hot, do not care about cold level. If does not help then you can try to use some ATF fluid(not CVT) with that old Honda Z1 admission. It will 50-90 % decrease that vibration on starting from auto-stop.

hello! Can you help me w/ my civic 2012 AT. 110km milleage and i have a shifting problem. this happens when the car is cold usually in the morning. when I change gear to drive or reverse theres a delay and the car jerk. but when the car is hot the shifting is great and normal. ive already change atf, engine and transmission support. any advise will help thank you!

Sounds like you have an internal pressure problem, possible oil seal hard and leaking. When the fluid warms up it softens the seal and holds pressure better. You can try using an additive to soften seals but be prepared to take the car to a transmission specialist for repairs
