You probably already know this but: 1. When bolting your spare to the bracket, use nylok nuts...they won't vibrate off of the bolt. 2. Put a cable lock around the spare to the gooseneck frame. It will secure your spare from falling off plus adds some security so someone doesn't steel the tire. These are the best lessons learned, sometimes expensive but you won't ever forget it either.

It’s cause of lower elevation in Florida the air is more dense so the truck needs more fuel if you have a boost gage you will see that you are running more psi in lower elevation. I had my truck spare tire come loose from under my truck ( tire cable mount snapped ) and ran it over with my Big Tex 25+5 trailer. Luckily no one got hurt BUT it bent both axles. I had to remove the front axle tires to get it home about 100 miles. Took me 2 1/2 days to find 2 dexter 7K axles. I finally found a pair in Ft Pierce FL and they did not ship. I had to drive from NC to FL to pick them up. Pre pandemic dexter 7k axles could be found at any Big Tex dealer and were about $550 per axle. These were $950 per axle and had to drive to FL to pick them up. With that said Don't forget to check your truck spare tire under the bed. Good luck to you. Stay safe

That's a decent trailer, it has a torque tube under it. I'm a welder at a production facility that builds trailers like that all day. They are a bitch to put in but well worth it. Good luck with your ventures And edit: the axel tubes are meant to be bent upwards to pre spring then for when you add serious weight to it. Probably just the spring perch. Take it easy
@OverKillPlusOne2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I could see in the video, spring perch was bent due to the side to side beam being bent up, sucked it in.

@JustinSmith-ph1le2 жыл бұрын
Looks like the axle perch is not sitting on the left springs, probably from the tire hitting it. Also, the axle tubes are bent upward, so that when the trailer is loaded down. If the tube was straight, then the axle will be bent down when loaded. It’s the same way for the trailer bed
@phantom216292 жыл бұрын

One thing you can do to make the Pre-trip faster on that Spare tire is once you get it mounted back on, make a mark with an ink pen on the nut that holds the Tire on and have it go onto the frame so all you have to do is see if that line is still lined up on your pretrip, I do it on all of my Lug Nuts as well, this way you can tell if it's starting to come loose instead of waiting till it's finger loose and you then notice the issue.

Bro those chains should be crossed, the right chain gets hooked to the left anchor and left to right. That's a violation. 5th wheel connector doesn't have to cross but gooseneck does.
@messenger37772 жыл бұрын
Does not matter on a gooseneck.
@EDOutdoors912 жыл бұрын
@Messenger it does, check with an actual DOT officer and they will tell you. Unless you have a gooseneck connected to a 5th wheel adapter. The whole point is for the chains to cross to catch the neck if it comes loose.
