Grelot use to be our shortcut from Schillinger to University. I remember when McDonalds and some off-brand grocery store use to be the only things at Schillinger/Airport Blvd. When Checkers opened at Airport Blvd/Hillcrest it was our favorite place to snag a burger and fries.

The Schillinger Road and Airport Blvd intersection is a complete traffic jam at rush hours and on Saturdays, avoid this area at those times. Luckily, there are several ways around the intersection.

Wonder what the City is going to do with the land since its movement of the City Airport to a more downtown location, thats a lot of prime restate in west mobile if the city decides to complete abandon west mobile regional airport

That is a great question. I have a suspicion it might be taken over by Amazon, or, increase the footprint of the current Coast Guard base that is directly behind it, or, utilize it more for freight, etc. The possibilities are endless!

The dollar movie theater was actually on Airport, but yes, it close many years ago. I miss it every time I go to the box office and pay $10 for a ticket!

Very few tornadoes in Mobile compared with other parts of the country. We’ve had a few in the last 10 years, but not many.
