Thank you Jeff for these awesome drives. I look forward to them every week. I grew up in Mobile, graduated from USA, and regrettably move away to work. But will be coming home soon after retirement.

You passed by many of the places in Mobile that were my stomping grounds when I lived there in the 1950s. I went to the Old Shell Road School for first grade in 1951-52 and to UMS for the 7th grade in 1057-58. At that time it was military, all boys and day school only. I boarded with a widow whose son was a junior and quarterback on the football team. I learned to swim in the pool at the Mobile Country Club. Back then Old Shell Road was still paved with shells.
@livinginmobile3 жыл бұрын
wow, that is super cool! Yep, UMS has been around for a while. So glad I could bring back some memories.

My parents played golf at the Azalea City Golf Course, so we often drove from past USA and took Old Shell Rd to Schillinger. Back in the mid 80s I don't remember much more than a narrow road with red clay ditches on both sides. It sure has built up since I was a kid. Keep up the great videos. Making me homesick!

Great video as always! Thanks for these videos on this city, I honestly learn things that I didn't know before. I'm glad that you mentioned ASMS, I graduated from there in 2017 and every time I see the midtown area it brings back good memories. There was a place called Cream & Sugar and that was the go-to place for ASMS students before it unfortunately closed. Also I noticed you were the drummer for Big Daddy Weave and if I remember correctly, back in 2012-2013 when I went to Faith Academy we had the former drummer for Big Daddy Weave (I'm assuming that was you lol) come during one of our chapel services. It's been a while but when I saw that you were part of that band that memory immediately came to mind. Totally unrelated but I thought I'd mention that.

Mardi started in Mobile, Alabama,. ,but it was not America. It was New France. Mardi Gras started in New Orleans, when the country became America. New Orleans started Mardi Gras in America. Mobile started Mardi Gras in New France, before America existed.... We are Americans and you must go by what was started in our country The United States of America... Please stop the anger or jeously. The states belongs to the Americans. Tax payers and citizens of America. The American States do not go by where you were born..... No state goes on top of Another.
