I bought this last week. Nice saw! It came with two blades, for wood and metal. Cut through 1x lumber easily. The black base plate cover pops off. It is to protect delicate surfaces. I took mine off because the saw tracks better using a fence without it. Since this has been replaced with the XR, you can find it for $100 on Amazon. Well worth it.

Nice review. Getting mine today. Choose this model to go with my 20 v Max system. Had been using an old POS jigsaw and finally decided to quit fighting it! I'm hoping it'll make work easier and quality much better!

I really like the Dewalt, and has become my go-to cordless jigsaw and drillset. Like you said, so much is blade choice- and there are plenty to choose from. Corded I love the Mafell, which I got after I finally wore out my prior corded Makita jigsaw (not its fault).

That blade caught my attention in the thumbnail. Never seen a blade like that. I just got the XR and i can't believe i waited this long to switch to a battery jigsaw. I had a nice Bosch but was corded. Also some blue tape will help prevent tear outs when ever you need a mitersaw quality cut on a finished piece

I have the old corded Bosch as well. Great saw but going cordless is the best. That blade came with my saw when I bought it. I’ve never seen them in the stores. It’s definitely meant for cutting straight.

Hi, have you used the splinter guard for the underside, any good? ps with a 3 oh battery if it was on continous use, how long do you think it would lost for before it stopped? thanks in advance

i haven't used the splinter guard, I actually think i lost it a long time ago. as for the battery, it really depends on what your cutting, how hard your pushing, etc... but I always keep 2 batteries with me all the time and never had a problem.

Is that high pitched noise normal as soon as you press the trigger? I just got this model from HD and it had obviously been used. I'm worried about the noise. They don't have any other Dewalt jig saw in stock. Urgh.

Hello, thank you for the review :) Have you ever experienced cutting (even 3/4 plywood) where the blade bends to an angle and the cut is no longer 90deg perpendicular? That's what I noticed my (same model) does :( Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I also use that same clean cut blade and it still bends :(

if the blade gets to hot, or if you push to hard it can start to bend, also try adjusting the cutting angle selector switch, it really makes a difference on different types of wood, let me know how it goes. :)

Hi Brad, I have the brushless XR version of this dewalt jigsaw. I really like it but the only small issue is the led light. I wish dewalt had a shut on/off button for it. When you put the blade at low speed it hard to see with the light. Other then that a awsome jigsaw. Waiting to purchase the barrel grip style. Thanks for the video

That blade is used for flush cutting btw . To get right into the edge of the material against an upstand for instance .

i have always liked the "clean cut "blades by dewalt. they seem to last a long time and have a great cut

I had mine for couple months now. Maybe 3 hours on it and the shoe pivot clamp broke. Local repair shop charged me $8 for the part.

I just purchased this exact saw, "New Old Stock" it didn't come with that funky blade. I got a few regular blades in a baggie. Now I have to find those blades they would work for what I do.

Change the model, this one always has that blade holding issue! Get the brushless one, solves the issue!

I'm not sure, I had that exact problem with my old 18v units, hasn't happened to me yet on the 20v. it might just need some lube on the mechanism

A jig saw was my go to saw as a kid. It is great for so many applications. And a lot safer then a circular saw. Great for hobby projects
