The other awful thing sugar does is it fuels inflammation. I'm 65 years old, just started Parkour training 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I struggle with a sugar addition and consequently I need to take a day or two off every few days due to inflammation in my knees. Yeah, old age obviously plays a factor, but trust me, the pain from knee fatigue and the pain from knee inflammation are two different things -- and I can tell the difference. Sugar is a hard habit to kick, and I probably never will kick it completely, but I do know that reducing my sugar intake usually results in me having far more endurance, and less knee pain.

I could be wrong on this, but from what I understand this is also why you should avoid things labeled "Low fat" Because the thing is, fat is really tasty lol. And when you remove it from something, it tastes like paper. So you need to add something to make it more palatable, and what do you add instead? SUGAR. Fat isn't actually bad for you, it's a big misconception that I think stems from the fact that humans are suffering from an obesity problem, we get fat, fat is bad, better not eat anything with fat in it. There's also a couple of studies that was done in the 70-80s I believe that pointed towards that fat might not be the best thing for you. But they were inconclusive! Just don't eat sugar every day, move about for a bit everyday, don't be scared of fat, eat a bit of greens with your food, calm down and sit and do nothing a couple of times a day for a minute or 2 And you'll be fine

I have to say, some time back I cut processed sugar and without going to the gym, I lost 10 KG in 2 weeks. I was amazed. To make it easier, know that there is lots of other ways to get sugar, but healthy sugar, for example, use raw honey. Once you know what other means to get your sugar from, you will let processed sugar easy.

Well done, guys! But I also think you should get some good research on salt. Some talking points to jump off for your own research: Consuming white salt also contributes to diabetes, and there are lots of foods that are touted as "healthy" that have high sodium. People need to stop and read the ingredients and check the nutrition facts. Table salt should have some kind of color, as the flavor is typically stronger and there is a tendency to consume less of it as a result. But lowering the amount of salt for those of us who aren't yet up to an intense training regiment can burn more fat, lower blood pressure, and actually have a dramatic effect on blood sugar as well. When something tells you salt is in the ingredients, consider the percentage of your diet that you are eating, serving sizes, etc., because overdoing the salt really does a lot of people in, especially those who aren't losing salt through a lot of sweat. Replenish your body's salts. What we call "salt" isn't actually the same thing as what your body loses, it's sodium chloride. What our body tends to lose is potassium chloride. Trying to replenish with things like Gatorade adds sugars to your diet that you might not want. There are some people who try to use salt water to replenish with, and this is really not healthy! Instead, drink regular old plain water, but add a piece of fruit on the side. Bananas add a high level of potassium for post-workout recovery, but for some people the high glycemic level makes the high potassium gained still not effective. Avocados are also fairly high in potassium, and have a lot of nutrient value without the high glycemic level. Just some talking points for you guys... please do some research and I'd love to see more of this kind of stuff in another video. Keep up the great work!

OK... well its just impossible to cut out sugar. Its better to reduce it, consciously reduce it. But trying to cut out sugar is just a bit misleading and naive. And nothing in your list was a surprise to me. Just use a bit of common sense, stop soft drinks, chocolates, biscuits, crisps. And serious excersise 2 or 3 times a week along with your weight training is essential. Preferably high intensity exercise. That will also reduce the effects of any sugar you do consume. Simple!

Even if the nutrients weren't stripped out of the sugar; any type of sugar that that loads on more calories than one can burn will short circuit muscle building and fitness goals. Too much natural sugar will load on more calories and body fat even if they contain nutrients. Of course, slow burning-low glycemic foods are a better way to obtain one's carbohydrate needs. However, the fact should be clear that as long as a body has adequate nutrients, ANY type of sugar and calories will lead to weight gain and circumvention of fitness goals.

@guysquarred7 жыл бұрын
I agree with you but i think you're misunderstanding something. Everything as some sugar in it and you must not mix the sugar naturally present in the product and the refined sugar added in extra. they are the same mollecule, but the quantity makes all the difference For example a banana has 23g of carbohydrate 12 of which are sugar (for 100g). So you're totally right when you look at the ingredient to avoid added refined sugar but not when you're looking at the nutritional facts ! I'll even add this, sugar and fat are the natural fuel of our cells, and every carbohydrates is converted or used in the same way as sugar, but it takes some time. The important thing to understand is that our body is bad at stocking sugar so it convert it in fat wich is then hard to burn, so if you eat a lot of sugar in your diet your body will produce lot of fat and will be short on sugar quickly after your meal (making you hungry) but if you eat more complexe carbohydrates (with the same amount of calories) the sugar will be diffused over time at a rate close to your body consumption.
@mijuajua48207 жыл бұрын
Macon . Guillaume Thank you for that info, so if we are to have sugar should we have it with a certain amount of carbs or some other nutrients?
@guysquarred7 жыл бұрын
Yes kind of. Fiber (that are not digested) for example are very important because it slows digestion, so sugar in association with fiber is better than alone. It's also true for anything that dilute sugar, water protein and else but less than fiber. All that is normally the case in non procesed food. You must avoid food containing added sugar because there is enough of it in the ingredients already. There also another thing but it become a bit advanced. The effect of sugar is not only due to its calories but also from its effect on insulin. Blood sugar (glycemia) is very strickly regulated and insulin is secreted when blood sugar is high. It has effect on almost all body and leads to global anabolism, so mass gain (fat and protein, strongly depending on your physical activity). So it's OK to eat a lot of carbs when you're recovering from a training session because it I'll helps your muscles to grow (from the insulin, the calories and the protein, because there is protein in much carb rich food). But carb rich meal when you're not training (the day before or after more or less) will make you gain fat.

Check the ingredients list as well as the nutrition information. Some 'sugars', honey; nectar; even molasses, are better for you than white sugar and some, high fructose corn syrup; aspartame/Nutrasweet (technically a amino combo, but one that decomposes into formaldehyde and other compounds some people are sensitive to; and some of the sugar alcohols, are even worse.

Also the same thing with processed white flower (wheat, which is usually gmo these days) our body can't digest such processed foods without engaging those essential elements: minerals and vitamines. @MetallicReg7 жыл бұрын
It is actually not true. The thing is that drugs compromise your definition of "good". So you are actually blindly harming yourself without being able to trust your protective bodily functions.
@MsThatAwesomeguy7 жыл бұрын
I wasn't commenting for opinions, but ok.
@humbabadook39627 жыл бұрын
MetallicReg That is also not completely true. It is your body and it's biological systems which rewards you for taking sugar or drugs. hence why people get addicted in the first place.
@MetallicReg7 жыл бұрын
Your body is *not rewarding* you for taking drugs. Drugs have in many cases effects that are compatible with the messengers in our synapses (and other corresponding cycles). Therefore, they create a dangerous disbalance in our nerve and hormonal systems. "Drugs" happen to influence regions which are connected to reward systems or slow down stress centers like in the case of alcohol (which is perceived as a freeing state). It is basically on par with neurotoxins which just happen to influence other life-sustaining messengers. ________ Sugar has a bit of an exceptional mechanism. The reason is, that sugars are quite rare "in the wild". You would mostly find them in high hanging fruits and "wild" fruits are naturally tiny (not the sort which we have bred for us over the centuries). Our brain favors sugar because it is basically its main nutrition. So you get each time an endorphin shot when you eat something sweet - so that you pay attention and remember what you are eating right now. Through eating of concentrated, filtered (e.g. juice) or simply raffinated sugars you overload your reward center and also destabilize your perception of what is "good" (your base level will rise and will need to be forcefully recalibrated).
@humbabadook39627 жыл бұрын
MetallicReg I agree with everything you say. Like I said, the brain rewards you via its neurotransmitters. And this was indeed not a problem in the time where sugar was rare.

Hey Tapp Bros. I know I may sound extremely stupid, but I was honestly wondering if energy drinks that have nutrients added and/or are sugar free are just as bad as what you are saying? I asked this because sometimes the sugar levels are low, and have energy supplements like guarine, ginseng, the b vitamins, etc., and it's really confusing whether or not these drinks are just as bad. any help would be fantasmagorical.
