@Rachel Lacow The sketches are ordered by how funny Lorne thinks they are. The show is timed down to the minute. If they run long they cut the whole thing or even more crazy they cut lines from the sketch as they go. They made a video detailing it. What's cut is not in any way related to whats funny or not.

It is a crime that this didn't air. It is so completely on point, well written, acted and performed. Harmonies tight, Ms. Strong's amazing dancing, the interjections by Mulaney, Jack Whites killer licks, Nulls soulful voice. So many moving pieces, and yet it was executed _live_ with minimal rehearsal with skill and with no mistakes. Compare this with skits where people can't get out their one line, or start immediately breaking. This is just so. Completely. On. Point.

Again, there are always more sketches in the dress than the air show, so they can have some variety. If a sketch doesn't work in dress, they can throw it away. Of course, I guess they sometimes have to throw away good stuff as well. Maybe they should change the policy to just having enough sketches for dress and air.
