We cut each other's decks because it's polite, if you don't want to cut, tap the top of the deck to symbolize a "cut" Sometimes we'll fuck about and take a single card from the top or bottom

Just cut the deck. Some of us have lingering tournament issues. It is funny when I tell new commander only players, the tournament rules have your opponent actually shuffle your deck too - not just a simple cut.

In our pod, we bring out a card and call it as a sol ring and then put it on top in hopes that it’s true (sometimes we put it on the bottom if they just had a blowout victory)

whenever I play, I ALWAYS cut my deck. Even playing on the tabletop. I just put the top card on the bottom, or the bottom card on the top. I don't play big tournaments btw.

I can't imagine not playing by tournament rules even in a casual game, like yeah use poxies, but for the actual game play you follow the same rules that you'll use in the tournament. That way the casual game also serves as practice. Granted, I don't play MTG competitively so I basically take my friend's word for what the rules are, but every game I HAVE played competitively required you offer the opportunity to cut or shuffle but there was no obligation to actually do so (but most people did as a matter of form). After nearly two decades of offering to cut and cutting a deck when offered, I would be actually put off if someone made *that* big a deal out of not wanting to cut my deck, and I'd even *insist* on cutting *their* deck at that point, because that's suspicious as hell.
