As an instructor I have done this many times. Nearly always the end is smiles and an appreciation of what we do and why. Many are at first over awed by the power in their hands, and so they should be. To hold instant death is not a small thing, and nearly everyone I have trained ends up more thoughtful, sober of mien and self possessed for the experience. Handling weapons, and especially firearms, is a sobering experience; it changes people, and for the better, whether or not they continue into shooting sports, hunting or whatever.

I’ll preface by saying that I agree, it takes practice to TRUST your aim. But I’ve only ever shot two mags worth of a 9mm glock something (I dunno it was with my dad’s friend) and the only shot I missed was the first shot. So as a first timer, if I were to show everyone “how great my aim was” it might send the opposite message ya know. In this situation, it’s a controlled environment with an instructor, taking his time, they probably hit their shots too good, and didn’t want to show that so it wouldn’t seem like anyone can just pick up a gun and hit every shot (maybe I dunno, just some shared experience).
@LuisCruz-fy9uv3 жыл бұрын
Not for all people, I’m from Puerto Rico and here to have guns first you need to go through a firearms safety course (the final is shooting a target) it was my first time and I didn’t missed just 2 bullet out of 20 went to the nine and not to the 10 point circle the instructor jokingly said “hey we got ourselves a sniper” btw I wasn’t shooting from far away just 10-15yards (my bad if I gave u headache not my first language)

I fired my first gun at 49 years old. I made a lot of mistakes in loading and in muzzle discipline. But I kept going and got better. Seven years later, my wife and I have bought several firearms and go to the range quite often.

I got my first this year (2023) at 45 and am loving it. I try to hit the range whenever I can. My first range time, I went alone to overcome the fear by myself. I got my first gun at 20, its an AR-15, my second gun at 21, a Glock 19, and my third gun a few weeks ago at 22 which is a .357 Mag revolver. Shooting is one of the most fun and therapeutic things you can do, and I'm interested in more than just shooting them too. I am fascinated by the mechanics of a gun and how it all works together perfectly fine, how the gun could literally not function if it used smaller or bigger ammo and truly they are mechanical wonders.

I like this instructor. He was on top of range safety big time. He jumped in immediately and constantly with trigger safety and muzzle awareness, reinforcing them verbally at every opportunity. I also like that he started them off each with one round only. I'll have to steal that idea. It makes a lot of sense. The only thing I'd recommend is starting newbies off with a .22 caliber (but that doesn't make for an impressive video).

Coming from a gun enthusiast, if someone has never fired a gun, don't bombard them with "watch your stance", "slow steady squeeze", "your posture is all wrong", etc. It makes firing a gun so much more intimidating than it already is. Obviously, give them pointers etc., but they're firing a darn glock here. It isn't going to blow them back to the wall behind them. I'm English, and went Shooting for the First time In the United States of America, during July 2017, It was such a great experience, I would love to be able to do it more often, It really is a lot of fun, and I feel like people back here in the UK, do not know what their missing out on, I'm Pro Gun and have a positive view on Law abiding people being able to take part in this and own them.. it is the sign of a free society to me. I am so glad that I got to experience this, and I would love to be able to do it again one day, we don't get to take part in this activity often, so I bet most Gun Ranges, are glad to see International Visitors because I must have spent hundreds of $ that day, and it was worth every $ spent.

Yes we know this.. about Britain, the Draconian, nanny state which does not feel like its okay for law abiding people to be able to bare arms in order to protect them selves, meanwhile in the same breath they will say Its okay for Politicians and those with a special status under our Government to enjoy Armed protection, but never the common man, In my world view, all our lives are of equal value, so if they are of equal value we all should be treated as such, we may be from this green and ''pleasant land'' but its not all sunshine and rainbows, well in fact it tends to Rain a lot, however that's not the point.. the point is, that as much as certain British people think we have the perfect answer to everything we don't, and we do get quite a few things wrong, lets face it the Americans rebelled against us for a number of reasons, which if you care to research you can find in the Declaration of Independence, America has the society they have today thanks to this, I wonder what your view would have been of our colonial brethren? after doing some research would you have sided with them, or would you still be Loyal to the Crown, and persecute men and women with real concerns and grievances as those Guilty of Treason? You see I was born an English man, however I have experienced through being on the other side of the Atlantic for a short time, and through some of my own research, What it means to be an American, and I like what they are about as a people.. I may be stuck in the British Isles but the values they share are to be admired, and not shunned, basically I'm for the cause Of Liberty, not the false brand of it, which has negative effects for those who live under that type of system, your just too comfortable with the way things have always been in Britain, and that's your problem, and its funny how with the amount of problems we can face, nobody has any real solutions, yet more people will become statistics when they never had to be, all because of this nations overall attitude.

This is even funnier when you consider that the "common street cop" isn't even armed with a firearm. Britain is such a joke when it comes to weapons, military and police

if you live in America, you should be allowed a gun for protection because everyone else has one. In the UK, you dont need it. All it will cause is a mass flood of guns into public hands, forcing everyone to arm themselves for safety because of that exact reason. If you want to go shooting just sign up for a British gun club, plenty of rifles and shotguns to be fired legally + hunting. It's not all banned, only handguns and autos as they should be.

I believe whether you exercise your 2nd or not, whether an enthusiast or not, whether you love it or hate it, you should learn how to safely operate one.

Silver Mune Indeed. I’ll go even father and say that gun safety should be taught young too. So if your kid ever is in a situation where a gun is in reach, they know what it is, what it can do, and what they should not do. Don’t have to let them get hands on if y’all aren’t ok with it, but gun safety needs to be taught as early as possible.

Willie Wisenheimer They didn’t take classes because there weren’t any. They didn’t have that luxury. It was the frontier, you learn or die. Guess what, a hell of a lot of folks died. You showcase people known for their skill with a gun, but I’d imagine you never stopped to think about all the folk wounded and/or killed by improper gun safety. Now, you don’t literally “need” a class to know the basics, but you still need a teacher. Be them a parent, sibling, neighbor, or paid professional. Guess what happens when a new shooter is taught by a bad shooter? Accidents happen. When operating a firearm, accidents can get people killed. So, unless no other option is available, denying proper instruction would be just plain immaturity. Also, don’t put words in my mouth, because you’re the only one to blame when I bite your fingers off.

It’s kind of crazy some people know nothing about guns and try to change gun laws. I think everyone should go shooting and go through the gun buying process before trying to take a stance. If you do all that and don’t like it then make your decision but can’t say you don’t like something if you haven’t tried it. As a gun owner and growing up around guns I go out buy a new gun break it down clean it put it back together then shoot it and know how it all works without even instructions, that’s how all other gun owners should be as well know your guns and get familiar with them before even shooting them.

I agree, but I would say that about all things. But you know that not many pro-gunners, for lack of a better term, signed up to lose family at the hands of a maniac. In that way it's hard to see both sides. Not even I have.

You completely missed the point. I absolutely love guns and I would dream of having a personal collection of different fire arms. However I would 100% agree with any legislation move to make buying guns more difficult. Because I realise the difference between what I like, what I do with it and what some other people might use them for.
@aidenbrokar2626 жыл бұрын
Frank Li have you ever bought a gun?
@TheBulap6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It drives me nuts that 99% of gun laws do not make logical sense and are written by people who have no idea at all what they're talking about.
