Please remember that the letter “u” is always pronounced like “oo” in “book” or “boot” in English, so _warung_ should sound like “wah-roong” or something like that. 23:26 why do you pronounce everything like Vietnamese? 😅 You don’t need to swallow your words like that with Indonesian. The letter “a” is always pronounced as “a” like in “father” and “bra” so don’t pronounce _mbak_ like you pronounce _bò_ in Vietnamese 🫣 36:07 if you want to go to the original Ajo Ramon, you need to key in “Pasar Santa” which is the name of the market. 45:49 _daging_ means “meat”and not “beef”. Most _sate taichan_ stalls sell only chicken and don’t do any other meat, but you can choose whether you want just the chicken meat, just the skin, or mixed. 59:06 _gule tikungan_ is really nothing to shout home about. Like what you said, most of the people who hang around Blok M are kids and they just want something cheap at a roadside stall where they can hang out with their friends. 1:05:39 oh if you’re talking about _chả cá_ we have something similar to that but it’s not that common in Java. 1:09:27 maybe the kitty only speaks Indonesian, try saying _enak_ next time 😁

@@mannu9935yeah, I get that he’s based in Vietnam. His Vietnamese sounds phenomenal, I wish I could be that motivated because I’m seriously afraid of tonal languages. But I think he’s somewhat biased, I feel like he wouldn’t try and pronounce all these local words with typical Vietnamese nasal sounds if he was in a European or African country. While Indonesia and Vietnam are both Southeast Asia, Indonesian spelling is more similar to Spanish and Italian than Vietnam. Actually Indonesian and Filipino are quite similar, and speakers of either language would feel like they could understand when they hear the other speak, but in reality they wouldn’t understand each other 😂

Anjiirrr Tebet … 😂 out of many places in Jakarta, you pick Tebet. Tebet is considered inner city to American standard, so it is a bit mixed of lower and upper income family. Mixed of alley-wide neighborhood, and big houses. I must say Tebet is a good introduction of how Jakarta works a both world 😅 29:50…. is not unfinished touch,,, it is called the green rooftops. Help with the climate… It is hella expensive to maintain requiring more water and treatment 😅. And it is Four Season hotel, one of the brand new super-luxury hotel in Jakarta,,,, so you can expect everything is over the top of hotel classification.😅

45:49 “Daging” in Indonesia refers to every flesh the sellers sell. My experience in Malaysia Daging MUST refers to Beef or Daging Sapi while chicken would never use word Daging in it. In here Daging could be Daging Ayam, Daging Sapi, Daging Kambing etc. So just ask them to not get mistaken.

Great video as always! I have been to Indonesia 4 times and I’m going back again next week but I don’t see the fascination about the food there, maybe I keep ordering the wrong food all the time but for me it’s so tasteless, either it’s spicy or sweet but there is no “full” savory flavor and they don’t use salt in any food, this time I am going to bring my own spices and kikkoman soy sauce when I go out to eat 😊 anyhow, that girl selling coffee was so charming and had a great personality ❤
