I've been listening to the version by the Chieftains for most of my life so this was instantly recognizable! Thank you Stephanie!

Thanks for posting this tune. I was taught to sing it around 60 years ago although it used a slightly simpler version of the music.

A golden oldie with a long history. Thank you Stephanie. This one was on my wish list.❤

I didnt know this Song and I was just curious and decided to listen to to the tutorial, only to realise that one of my favourite german bands has actually covered it! Thats awesome and I will learn it now. Thank you!

What a beautiful tune, I knew it but a slightly different version. Also interesting is that wooden whistle that resembles a recorder.

Super tune! Thank you. I like the traditional song version by Derek Ryan as well.

I have a lir high D and very happy with it. But if I were to get another whistle of another note, what would be your recommendation? Low G?
@CutiepieTinWhistle11 ай бұрын
A, F Or G are all lovely mid sized whistles. The F being the largest of the three 😊

Hi I have a C tin whislte how would I transpose from D to C thx
@CutiepieTinWhistle8 ай бұрын
Well, you can simply play the same tune, using the same tabs, and pretend you're playing on a D whistle. That way, you'll have transposed the tune yourself by switching the whistle key. You won't be able to play along with me, or the backing track though, as you'll be in C where I'm in D. It's difficult to explain by a message here but this video might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYPKfJWth9-qd6Msi=0B7saHaEfLSXp3oh

Yes such a good familiar tune and easy to remember one...if only I could learn to play the higher notes fast as well, instead of going into a bit of a panic with them and sounding like crap....

on the last phrase of the last line, the notation is not matching what you are playing. The last five notes read "a g f# g e" but you are playing "g a f# g e".
