How do they survive being trimmed down that much? Do they just go dormant like many other plants? I started watching because I could never keep a venus fly trap alive. I have since learned a bit but am not ready to try and save another venus lol. been sticking to my dracaenas and pothos since I know more about those and dont have to accidentally kill a new plant when I know what I have haha

It’s not a necessity but it does help clean them up, avoid diseases, and help the new growth get more sunlight in the spring.

You can’t get it to align with winter. You can align with spring and summer, but it’s pretty much impossible to make them go dormant.

@@saraira yes. They go dormant in a slow process during the fall. Putting them in freezing conditions when actively growing it may die

Sarracenia purpurea grow in bogs in northern wisconsin, so they don't mind below zero temps
