one thing i never do is shoot the clippings in somebody else yard. i always go down where the clippings blow back into the yards im cutting as much as possible. same way with streets and sidewalks, makes job easier to blow after and keeps neighbors happy

hi dan. i been looking for some time for a ztm. this mower you have was on sale and i bought it. i cut about 30 yards so far. i can see why you are pumped up. i lov this mower so far. the thing that is bothering me is the blades wont make it threw 9 yards. i do this twice a week. its dulling the last three. i was cutting with a john deer d110 42". with the chute closed off. that had gator 5 blades. i would sharpen every 18 yards. have you tryed any different blades? also on some yards i got flower beds so i close off chute by self tapping screws and a thick piece of metal.
@DansVlog8 жыл бұрын
I go around 30-40 yards then change blades. Has a lot to do with sand condition and grass type

Hey Dan so I see looks like you got rid of the gravely I'm just starting in lawn care trying to find the best zero turn for the $ I have narrowed it dow to the gravely ztx 42,or the hustler raptor 42. What's your thoughts was the gravely good to you besides the starter and how did it cut with 3 blades? Stripe nice
@DansVlog7 жыл бұрын
I don't lay down stripes here in the southeast ( no one really does with this centipede grass). Can it stripe? Probably. I would buy the exact Gravely all over again if I needed a compact zero turn and I would choose it over any brand available around me (dealer /service support is vital - I do not buy mowers from the internet).

Hi Dan is this the same line of mower as the zt 34 sold at lowes/homedepot I've been looking into getting my first zero turn and saw that one would you recommend?
@DansVlog5 жыл бұрын
Ariens makes Gravely so to answer your question, the Zoom 34 at Lowes for $2500 is similar but not the same "Line" as the ZT42. The biggest difference just in appearance is the stamped/rolled deck on the Ariens vs the welded larger stronger deck on the Gravely I have. I would not buy the Zoom 34 for 2500 unless you are really stuck with small gates for back yards in your customer's lawns.
@wkaminer5062 жыл бұрын
What do you do with all the clippings you cut that blew into the neighbors yard? Also, that was a great yard to stripe but you cut it in every direction messing up the lines. IMO
@DansVlog2 жыл бұрын
I take it blow any clippings back and bag them. I don’t stripe, especially with a side discharge mower.
@gregkinkade97976 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan I have a gravely hd 60. I'm not real satisfied with the factory blades and having a hard time finding what new ones to get. Any recommendations?
@DansVlog6 жыл бұрын
Are you mulching or side discharge?
@gregkinkade97976 жыл бұрын
Dan's Vlog side discharge
@DansVlog6 жыл бұрын
OK great my recommendation would be to go to your dealer local and ask them for a highlift blades. That will help get the clippings out from underneath the deck quicker allowing the blades to cut grass more efficiently rather than losing energy with the clippings under the deck

I know some people don't like to talk about prices but I'm really curious to know what a yard like this goes for! I started a small lawncare business and currently just have a push mower but I've been thinking of investing in a zero turn so I could start doing bigger yards next spring. I can get 1/5th acre yards for about $35 around here, is there that much of a profit in larger yards like these to warrant upgrading to a zero turn?
@DansVlog7 жыл бұрын
+Frankenscuzz I get $40 for most yards seen in my vids. If only Mowing part time, it might take 2 seasons to make back the cost of a zero turn. If mowing full time, a nice commercial mower is great to save time and legs!

Cool, thanks for the reply Dan.

Dan what makes you decide when to put your chute up and down on your mower. Like why do you have it down in this video. But up in other videos?
@normanbanks89028 жыл бұрын
Chute up in tall thick grass to disperse the clippings better. Chute down in short thin grass doesn't matter on the clippings.
@DansVlog8 жыл бұрын
When the clippings start to blow over the tall grass and onto the cut grass I usually put the chute down so I don't have to chase the clippings. Also, depends on the video and what I want to show.

@bfill326 жыл бұрын
Dusty Chase it mows really fast great mower. on inclines that are pretty steep it likes to slide a little but I have put it on some pretty steep stuff the small tires do make it pretty rough hitting pot holes or ruts it will jar you pretty good lol

hegravely zthd is the exzact same as the ariens apex I just got mine 3/2/18. 52inch 23hp kholer really built hd. dealer will be alittlemore expendsive as they have a dealer prep charge around 300 dollars. buying fromhome depot or lowes cheaper but after u get it check it out before you use it. make sure all the belts are adjusted to specs heard some bad reviews on these mowers from 2017. also check the fluids oil in motor hydraulic oil in both resivors are to the first mark on the hydraulic jars check them when the mower is cold supposed to be first mark mine needed hydraulic fluid so I added some. that's for the trans axles left and right.15w 50 hydraulic oil owners manual said motor oil that's wrong called ariens today sothey know they made a mistake, its on page 39 in the manual,product code for the oil is 00057100 15w 50 synthectic oi it supposed to keep the trans axles cooler. good luck in what ever brand mower you buy happy mowing l
