That 2nd one, just wow. I think those were my favorite microscope shots you've done so far. Everything was great, as usual. That orbicular (I like the word "oolitic") was super cool. Do you think those were pre existing columns like stalactites and then the water line agate formed around them?
@MontanaRockMom2 жыл бұрын
I think you are right! I was just reading on how agate can form around existing stalactites and take their formation!
@alexm99372 жыл бұрын
My first thought about the circles was tube agate formations... it looked there might've been tiny holes in the centers? That's where a tube would be, basically a rod inclusion that agate forms around, then sometimes dissolves to leave a hollow tube. Eyes are perfect little spheres or hemispheres that agate forms around.. the stalactite explanation sounds possible too.. not an expert here! ☺

For your readers. Usually when selling slabs on the internet the going size is 5X5 inches and 1/4 inch thickness. The way something is priced is by color or color combinations. Primary colors are the most desirable. But begining with 3 different colors and they are the primary ones that make a desirable pattern. You could begin at $10 for a 5X5 slab. Just to give you baseline on pricing. Thanks MRM for your tips on orientation of cutting and the use of a Marker to plan your cuts and get the best out of your stone.😍😎😁

Stunning colorations! Hard to fathom the processes that make these patterns. Just wondering, would you consider doing a video for people like me that really don't know what most of the terms are, like dendrites, waterlines, what is an 'agate' and how is it formed, stuff like that?

Hi Montana Rock Mom. I still love your videos!! I’m looking for help if you can… no worries, if not! I am looking to buy my first rock saw and table grinder and possibly a flat lap too and I want to sell some of my TN Paint Rock Agate (raw material) to do so. I have many different sizes and varieties. Could you give me a way to contact you if you are interested? Or you could contact me. Thanks so much! I have been collecting for years but have just now started a lapidary class and I want my own equipment!
